Work Text:

It was a dark night on the wayward Island, instead of being at home James was stuck. He would have liked to be asleep in his bed right now, but he had to silently listen to his friends fight over morals.

"I can't fucking believe you! You're just going to abandon her like that! Like she never existed! What is wrong with your mind!" Morgie screamed.

It was a good thing that the ille doesn't allow magic because with the way Morgie was looking at the god for his decision he would have killed Hades on the spot, but maybe if magic was allowed he wouldn't lose his voice by tomorrow.

"Listen I tried to work it out with Maleficent but -" Hades was stopped by even more yelling.

"Not her you dumbass! I'm talking about Mal. You know the little girl that you helped make. What is she going to think when she's older, How do you think she'll feel having to deal with the thoughts of why did my dad leave and was I good enough for him. I don't give a shit about your marital problems! I want you to know that if you fully do what your idiot brain is saying to do that you'll lose every little moment you could have had with her!" Morgie finished red in the face from anger.

James noticed a smirk appearing on Hades face which was odd until he put the pieces together. Hades was going to bring up a sensitive topic for Morgie but he would not dare to go there, right?

"You want to play dad to her? Are you having a little self reflecting pity party? Is the reason why you're so adamant about me being there for Mal is because the King's men took you away from your own daughter? Is that it?" Hades continued in a taunting tone.

Oh no he was going there.

He knew that the firehead didn't mean it at all, The day Morgie showed up on the island and told Hades and him about everything, James swears he saw a tear come out of the human flamethrower's eye, but Hades does not know how to handle a conflict without going for a yell and an emotional punch in the gut.

"You want to live vicariously though me and maleficent? Does pretending that my daughter is the one you lost going to help you sleep at night? You can play house with maleficent for all I care but you know you'll never see your precious little girl again." He continued.

Morgie looked at Hades in the eyes and only said, "Fuck you!" then left.

A couple minutes of silence passed James took it as a que to start a conversation."You know that was messed up."

Hades looked at his friend on the couch.                       "I know I shouldn't have done that. I couldn't help it he pissed me off by saying I'm a deadbeat dad!" Hades explained.

"You kinda are." James answered back plainly.

"What do you know about rising kids?"Hades snapped back forgetting who he was talking to.

"What do I know? Last time I checked I was the one with four kids" Hook jokingly said also not realizing he spilled vital information.

"Wait four last time I checked you had three" Hades confusingly said.

" .... Bridget was pregnant when I was captured and since it was only me and the kids when the guards found us, They asked who was the mom and where she was? Harriet yelled that their mom died, and since C.J was three years old it was easy for Harry to make up the details for them to believe. I just stood there and went along with it."James stated.

"Wow." was all Hades could say.

Not wanting to think about his own heartbreak James put Hades back on track.

"You should apologize to Morgie because it's not that he wants to take over being Mal's father. He lost everything not just magic but the only way Adam was going to allow Jane to stay in Aurdon was if Fay agreed to help seal magic away from people and Morgie removed or alter any memories of himself in Jane's mind, So in his mind his daughter will grow up to hate him and his wife is being forced to go against the things that she believes. Morgie wants to help and hopes that the kids here aren't going to stuck in broken homes. In his eyes it's not fair for kids like Mal and the others to be punished for their parents." James revealed.

He could tell it hit Hades right in the chest.

"Tell Morgie I'm so sorry and please be there for Mal if maleficent needs it, but I cannot stay any longer in this castle and don't try looking for me either, now good bye my old friend."Hades spoke.

Leaving James alone in once was the arena where a screaming match took place but now a small den of complete silence.
