Work Text:
Yuji groans, running a hand down his face as his domain dissipates from around him, the leftover blood from it dissipating.
“Well, shit.”
Yuji sighs, falling backward to lie on his back, looking up at the darkening sky, and closes his eyes, careful not to fall asleep, just relaxing.
After a few minutes of meditative breathing, he groans, sitting up and rolling out his shoulders, staring at the unconscious Gojo, distantly, he’s a little surprised no one has come out to find him here, the fight was pretty intense… Maybe they're scared of him?
Nah.
He shrugs, not wanting to look a gift horse in the mouth, and stands up, wincing as something cracks in his knees, and steps over to Gojo, digging in his pocket and snagging out his phone, clicking it on, luckily its unbroken, and maneuvering Gojo’s head to get past the face id.
With some adjustments, (and covering Gojo’s eyes), The phone unlocks, making Yuji pump a fist in quiet victory.
He finds his way to contacts, and after a moment decides to call up someone who probably wouldn’t think he’ll kill them, and/or try to kill him, and clicks on Shoko Ieiri’s contact, putting the phone up to his ear.
..
…
….
It was sent to voicemail.
He sighs again, running a hand along his face, and calls Shoko again.
Nope.
Did anyone like Gojo? Like seriously.
He closes his eyes and pinches the bridge of his nose, calling for a third time, and after three rings it gets picked up, making Yuji sigh in relief.
“What do you want Satoru? I’m busy.”
Yuji raises an eyebrow as he waits for Shoko to finish her sentence, and clears his throat.
“Shoko-San?” He holds back a chuckle as Shoko’s breathing goes still, “You’re still at the campus right?”
“Who is this? Why are you on Gojo’s phone.”
Yuji rolls his eyes, really sick of all the questions, and asks again, “You’re on campus right, I’ll explain things if you are.”
He hears Shoko adjust the phone, probably checking the time, then he hears a sigh, “If you’re on Gojo’s phone, then either he gave it to you or you took it, so it’s either trust or strength. Or he left it somewhere but why would it be unlocked if he did.” Yuji nods as Shoko concludes, silently urging her to hurry up.
She sighs again, and he can hear the exhaustion in her voice, “Fine, yes I'm on campus, find me.”
Yuji grins, sighing in relief as he’s about to respond, then she hangs up, making Yuji pull the phone back and stare at the call-ended screen with disbelief, then shrugs, dropping it into his own pocket.
He steps back over towards Gojo, having paced around as he was on the phone, and squats down, grabbing Gojo’s sides and hoisting him up like a sack of potatoes, grunting with effort as he steadies himself.
As he walks to Shoko’s office, he does his best to avoid people, assuming it’s around dinnertime and doing his best to adjust his route accordingly, basically just sticking to Tengen’s barrier until he can gun it to her office.
He freezes as he sees his past self and Megumi talking, hopefully, they won't notice him, or if they do just assume he’s someone else and ignore him.
They walk past with no issue, Yuji letting out the breath he was holding.
Deciding he’s close enough, he glances around before taking a deep breath and bolting inside, making his way through and quickly finding Shoko’s office, somehow Gojo staying asleep, so either Yuji hit him so hard he got put into a coma (Kinda likely) or he really, really needed to sleep (Highly likely).
He knocks on the door with the hand not making sure Gojo doesn't fall, humming quietly as he rocks back and forth on his feet as he waits for Shoko to open the door, or tell him to come in.
And after a moment, Shoko does just that, calling out that it's unlocked, giving Yuji permission to enter, turning as he does so Gojo doesn't hit the door frame.
“Shoko-San! Thanks for letting me in.” He grins down at Shoko’s tired face, whose eyes are flittering between him and Gojo’s body.
“What happened.” Yuji winces slightly at her unimpressed tone, stepping further in and flopping Gojo onto an empty cot, turning around and shrugging sheepishly.
“He ah.. Fought me when I just wanted to talk, so I kinda sorta had to knock him out.” The last part of his sentence comes out in a rush.
Shoko’s unimpressed voice rings out, “You… knocked him out, as in, beat him in a fight?” Yuji cringes, but nods, looking anywhere but at her.
She sighs deeply, he gets it, and stands up, stepping over to him and Gojo, Yuji steps out of the way to let her get access to him.
She hums to herself as she looks him over, checking his pulse, using her cursed energy to scan his body over, all the basic medical examinations, besides shining a light in his eyes, probably because of the six eyes.
She sighs and steps back, running a hand through her hair and turning to face Yuji, “He’s fine, his Reverse Cursed Technique already healed any damage you might've done to him, he’s just exhausted.”
Yuji nods, leaning against a cot behind him, “Yeah I figured, so I didn't like, vegetate him?” Shoko huffs a laugh, shaking her head as she steps back over to her desk, snagging a lighter and a pack of cigarettes from the surface and putting them in her pockets.
“No, you didn’t vegetate him, he’s built of sturdy stuff.” Yuji lets out a breath of relief, running a hand through his hair, “Good, that's good, would be pretty fucked up if I did that on accident.”
He hears Shoko hum in agreement as she fidgets with her lighter, leveling him with a blank stare, “So who are you?”
Yuji freezes at the question, eyes flittering around as he tries to flub up an answer, mouth opening and closing, “A-ah, U-uhm.. J-Jin Itadori?” He winces at the questioning tone, and the voice crack midway through, but powers through, “Y-Yep! That’s me! Jin Itadori!”
Shoko raises an eyebrow, clearly not believing him, but not caring enough to question it, having seen he’s not a threat to her or anyone else, just Gojo apparently, “Okay Mr. ‘Jin Itadori’ what’re you doing here.”
Yuji gulps, chewing on the inside of his cheek as he tries to think of a story, “Ah well uh, whenever I heard that Gran-” He cuts himself off by clearing his throat “When I heard that Dad died, I rushed to finish all my stuff in uh... Canada? And came over here to take care of Yuji.”
Shoko hums unbelievingly, staring him down blankly, voice flat, “Sure.”
Yuji sighs, deflating slightly, then shrugs, raising an eyebrow, “Does it really matter? It’s pretty obvious I look exactly like the kid.”
Shoko nods, conceding the point, walking around her desk and sitting heavily in her chair, tossing the pack of cigarettes onto the desk and crossing her arms, staring at him with a tired stare.
Yuji raises an eyebrow, crossing his arms as well.
After a minute, Shoko sighs, running a hand through her hair and nodding, “Okay sure, whatever.” Yuji grins, pumping a fist.
“Sweet! Okay so uh… I rushed really hard, and have nowhere to stay… so… Where does Gojo keep his cash?” Yuji winces, cringing slightly at his brazen wanting to use Gojo’s money to rent an apartment.
Shoko snorts, shaking her head and digging in a drawer in her desk, before grabbing a simple-looking key, “I’m imagining you’ve got no luggage right?” At his confused nod, she continues onwards, tossing the key onto the desk, “There’s a few apartments on campus, you'll find one.”
Yuji grins and grabs the key off the desk, examining it over and spotting a three-digit number on it. Sliding it into his pocket and giving her a thumbs up, stepping towards the door.
“You’re a lifesaver Shoko-San! I’ll ah, get outta your hair now.” He throws open the door and steps out, waving at her as he leaves.
Shoko listens to his footsteps echo down the hallway, turning her tired gaze to the sleeping Gojo, looking more at peace than he has in a while, and with a sigh she stands up, reaching into a cabinet and grabbing out a blanket, draping it over Gojo and leaving the office, snagging her lighter and cigarettes as she does, and flicks off the lights, letting Gojo sleep peacefully, even if it was against his will.
