Chapter 1: Prologue. (The lonely shack in the forest.)

Chapter Text

*It's been quite the long trek for you hasn't it? Seemingly stuck going around in circles in a large forest. Quite the unlucky situation hm?*

*Now you did take quite a bit of supplies with you. But it wasn't enough to have you survive for so long. Not that you had tried to stay out for a long time.*

*As your mom always said to you. 'Don't let nature's beauty hide the trickery and danger underneath.' Words that you had taken to heart ever since you were a baby...If only you knew how to prepare for long forest walks...Or had a map. Shame on you for that!*

*But as you had started to resign to your fate to die and rot out in the woods. You notice a building out of the corner of your tired and sunken eyes.*

*You groggily turn and sit down on a rock to get a better look at the building. And what you see isn't all that much. Just a small shack with a small vegetable garden in the front yard. Vegetation starting to grow from the walls of the old building.*

*You sigh as you look at the unimpressive building. But decided it would be best to walk to the front door and see if anyone was home. You were practically begging for any sort of hydration, food, and rest. So why not give it a go?*

*So mustering up what little strength and energy your body could muster and maintain. You slowly walk up to the door-making sure not to accidentally crush any of the plants as you do.-And knock. Waiting for anyone to respond.*

"H-Hello? Is anyone ho-home?" *You said with a tired and strained voice. Your legs wobbling as you try your best to stand up straight.* "I-I got lost out I-In the nearby woods a-and need a little rest. Pl-Please let me in."

*Thankfully your soft prayers were answered. As a kind and generous looking old man opened the door and sympathetically smiled. Immediately handing you a bottle of ice cold water.*

"Of course friend. You're welcome to stay as long as you need to and want to." *The old man said as he allowed you into his shack. Allowing you to get a much better look at him.*

*The man seemed to at least be in his mid 50's. Being at his low 60's at the most. He had a small salt and pepper beard and a beanie in order to cover up his bald head. The rest of his clothes were fairly simple and clean yet brought a massive sense of relief and comfort not allowed earlier.*

"Now what are you doing out here so far out? You don't seem like the one to travel for such a long time." *The old man said with a slight chuckle. Making you rub the back of your head in embarrassment and shame.*

"Li-Like I said outside. I got lost...S-So yeah. A-And trust me. I wish I brought more stuff."

"You probably should've. Maybe you wouldn't have to stop at my humble shack." *The old man said as he made you some delicious looking vegetable soup. Handing it over to you.* "Then again. I wouldn't believe I would be out for so long as well hm? But enough of that. May I have your name?"

*You took a small spoonful of your soup to slightly stir at least a little bit of your energy. Smiling at the old man as he asked his question.*

"(Y/N)" *You kindly reply as you swallow the mouthful of soup. Feeling better already.* "Yours?"

"Please call me Siro." *The man now named Siro said with a gentle smile. Pulling out an old book and setting it down in his lap.* "You must be quite bored from all of your travels friend. May I please offer to read you a story?"

*You look up from your soup for a moment. A little surprised by his kind but a little sudden offer. But you could use a bit of entertainment right about now. So you nodded your head.*

"Sure. What kind of story is it?"

*Siro smiles as you accept his offer. Opening the book to its first page. Showing that the books cover had a bright, metal star on it. Two small engravings in the center to represent eyes.*

"Well. Let me ask you a question to set the mood. What do you think someone needs in order to be a hero and help others?"

*You think about what Siro for a few moments as you look at the ground in thought. Before eventually shrugging and shaking your head.*

"Ah. I suppose I should give my side first hm?" *Siro then cleared his throat and began to speak again.* "To me. What makes a hero is someone who wishes to help another without wanting a single thing in return. Someone who just wants to help someone because it's the best thing to do. Someone like..." *Siro then showed you the page he was on. Showing two men in plumbing attire-probably brothers-saving a princess from a large turtle/dragon.* "These two."

*You looked at the two closely. And while they didn't look like that much on the surface. They looked like they were fighting pretty well against the large dragon turtle. Which was impressive for you.*

*Looking at the stocky and more chubby brother first. His outfit was mainly red. Save his blue overalls with yellow buttons and brown shoes. He also had black eyes and a mustache that was small. Yet noticeable.*

*His brother actually looked almost identical to him. Except he was in green and a lot taller than his brother. But also looked more scared and nervous than his brother. Who seemed to be more comfortable and focused. As well as younger than the shorter one.*

*All in all. The two were pretty interesting heroes.*

"They look pretty cool." *You say with a small smile as you lean back in your seat.* "What are their names?"

"They are Mario and Luigi. The protectors of the Mushroom Kingdom and Princess Peach and the rivals of lord Bowser." *Siro said as he pointed his finger to each character as he said their names. Flipping to the next page and continuing.* "They've done a lot to help improve the lives of many people they've met over the years. Even going to different worlds to help their people."

*You look at the two with surprise and a sense of wonder at how much those two have been able to accomplish together. Especially the saving different worlds part.*

"Woah..."

"Woah indeed my friend. To think that two plumbers with nothing all that special besides their unbreakable bond could save so many...That would be practically unheard of here." *Siro then placed the book to the side for the moment and asking another question.* "But what would happen if they were placed in a world if your bond won't get you so far?"

*Once again. You were slightly stumped by the question. But you knew that it may not end well. Or it might go well on a few sparse occasions.*

"Um...Not well?"

"Hoho! Quick to assume the negatives are we?" *Siro then placed the book back in his lap. Which made it start to glow.* "But you still don't sound completely certain. Well how about I read ya the tale and help ya? If so. Let our story begin!"

*Just then a burst of light flowed out of the book as the pages began to rapidly flip from one to the next. Starting off the story with a bang.*

*What kind of story you wonder? A story about two brothers who always had each other's backs. A story...Of two brothers in arms.*

*Hey guys. Braxton here. You may remember the old Mario and Luigi x MHA story I made back when I first started writing. Which I unfortunately deleted due to poor writing and lack of motivation. But I decided a massive rewrite was in order now that I’ve played Brothership.

So please. Enjoy!*
