Chapter Text
If there was one thing Fein was expecting when he woke up this morning, it definitely wasn't the fact that his parents were arranging his marriage with the enemy's prince. He almost spat his water out as how insane that sounded. "Pardon my behaviour but what do you mean?" Fein said, trying to keep his voice levelled. "Honey, it's to stop the war. It's been going on for too long now." His mother said, as if that would change his mind on this.
He looked over at his father who couldn't even look at him. "So this isn't even about how I feel? yeah maybe I'd agree if you had given me a choice." Fein said, he wasn't angry, well he was he was so angry but he just couldn't bring himself to take it out on his parents. "The kingdom of the sky already agreed." His mother said and Fein didn't even know what to say to that. "But-" "That's enough Fein. The wedding is tomorrow and that's final." His father cut him off.
Fein just stated in disbelief as he looked at both of his parents, apologetic looks on their face. He was tired, tired of having his feelings ignored. "Excuse me." Fein said as he stood up from the table, his breakfast hardly even touched. He couldn't stomach eating around them any longer. Despite their protests Fein made his way to his room. Fein didn't know how to feel, he was getting married to a complete stranger, his kingdom's long term enemy tomorrow. Fein just sat in his room. He didn't know what else to do after all.

"What!?" Couri shrieked, his wings puffing up as Rek just looked at him with an apologetic smile. "That's what your parents said." He explained as he looked at the prince. " I'm not getting married to a stranger, must less our enemy! " Couri yelled frustratedly as he started pacing. "We all know what these humans have done to us, I've seen the damaged they've done with my own two eyes and you expect me to marry one!?" he cried out as he turned back to Rek .
The look on Rek's face was nothing short of pity. "I don't expect you to do anything." Rek explained as he took a cautious step closer to Couri. "But think about it okay. I don't want to force you to just go with it because that's what everyone wants. I want you to want to do it." Rek said, carefully holding one of Couri's hands. " It'll be okay, alright? Even if it may seem like the end of the world I'll always be here for you. " Rek smiled and that calmed Couri down. "Whatever.. I'll marry him." Couri said letting the tension leave his body. "But if he tries anything I'm divorcing him." Couri added getting a chuckle from Rek.
It would be okay, he supposed as long as he didn't think about the worry consuming him. What if this guy was just like all the other humans? Waiting to use their marriage as an excuse to harm Couri. Couri wasn't weak, he knew that much about himself but it still worried him. it worried him about what that human could do to him behind closed doors. And maybe it was a bad thing to be afraid of your soon to be husband but Couri couldn't help the fear. After all, humans and avians have been fighting for centuries, there's some gruesome stuff you can see in the history books.
But he knew he shouldn't doubt someone he barely knew. Barley as in Couri's seen the Prince on the battlefield one or two times. If he had to be honest the human Prince looked.. Good. But Couri shook that thought out of his head as soon as it got in there. He sighed and brought himself up to get his day started, he'd need a clear mind before getting wed off to some stranger after all.
