Work Text:
It was the Sunday before exam week started, only two days after Min Ho offered to fly out Kitty's family so that they could reunite.
Min Ho was out taking his usual walk about campus- not in the gardens, but in the middle of campus- when Kitty spotted him. He'd just texted her that the private jet would be in Portland to pick her family up within the hour.
Feeling eternally grateful and passionately confident, Kitty shouted his name across the campus. She wasn't walking over to him or taking the casual route of approaching. Instead, she was full-on bolting towards him. "Min Ho!"
He glanced up from the ground to see her about to tackle him into a bear hug, so he prepared to be squeezed to death. "Kitty, what are you--"
She was in his arms, hugging him so fiercely that she was practically clinging to him like a koala, before he had the chance to say another word. Min Ho's arms were wrapped around her waist, her face was nestled on his shoulder, close to his neck, and her feet were dangling in the air because he was taller than her. Her voice was hardly even a whisper when she said, "Thank you for getting your dad to fly my family out."
Min Ho didn't let her go. He held tight to her waist, and Kitty stayed comfortably in his arms for what felt like hours. She wasn't just comfortable with Min Ho, but she felt like she was respected in a way she never had felt in any other sort of... situationship?
She wasn't sure. Whatever kind of experience they were... sharing.
As she pulled back and her feet dropped to the ground, their eyes met again. It was electrifying, just like the other night had been. Kitty was sure she'd fooled herself into thinking they'd been about to kiss, but this time, she was sure.
Min Ho was looking at her as if she were a wispy, ethereal, golden angel sent from another planet.
"Anything for you, Covey,"
His breath was warm and soft, like the feeling of a light bird feather tickling her cheeks.
It was Kitty's turn to say something, and she was at a loss for words. She practically had to rip her eyes away from his. What else was there to do? How was she supposed to get past this? It was impossible. She wasn't getting over Min Ho. She was like a boat that was sinking into the bottom of the ocean, except she actually liked the feeling.
"Min Ho..." She whispered.
He sucked in a deep breath as he similarly murmured, "Kitty..."
Her eyes glanced from his eyes to his lips and back again. Min Ho's did the same, mimicking her exact actions.
Kitty knew the feeling better than anyone. After all, she was a match maker. They were about to kiss.
Slowly but surely, their faces inched closer and closer together.
Their lips collided simultaneously with their worlds, and nothing would ever be the same again...
Because Kitty didn't just like Min Ho a little bit, she loved him-- a lot.
And Min Ho didn't just think of Kitty as a friend; he loved her more than a little bit-- a lot.
Neither of them knew what was to come next, but throughout anything and everything, they'd be by each other's side.
