Chapter Text
He was going to die. He held his brother’s head in his arms and felt his vision fading. He looked at Erina, her eyes full of sorrow, her cheeks stained with tears, her warm arms he longed for were wiping her tears away. He felt his blood at his feet. He’s almost bled out. Then he saw white.
Did he die? Jonathan didn’t believe in heaven, but he sure thought he was in it. He felt the weight of Dio’s head fading from his arms. It felt like he was falling. Something’s wrong, where is he? Is Erina okay? His mind was thinking of more questions than he thought was possible for a dead person.
And then he landed. The blinding white light was gone, but it was now replaced by total darkness. He felt some sort of rocky surface under him. Someone shouted something in a language Jonathan didn’t understand. Suddenly, all the pain in his body slowly faded away. The weakness in his joints disintegrated, and he felt himself breathing calmly again.
He opened his eyes. A boy who appeared to be Asian hovered over him, a worried look on his face. He wore a dark blue uniform with a yellow undershirt. His hair was styled in a hairstyle that the gentleman didn’t recognize. He had a few scars on him, a scar on his lip was the one that Jonathan noticed first.
“Hello…?” Jonathan mumbled, hoping the boy understood him.
“You talk in English?” the boy said with a thick Asian accent.
“Y-Yes… Where am I?”
“Japan. Morioh.” the boy smiled, “You come from sky?”
“Pardon?”
“You, girl, and boy come from sky.” the boy pointed over. Jonathan felt relief in his body. Erina was there safe and with him. Shock rang through his body when he noticed Speedwagon was there too.
“Erina! Robert!” Jonathan said joyfully, then he realized something. He looked around, but luckily there was not a blonde vampire head.
“You know girl and boy?”
“That’s my wife. We just got married, and we were going on our honeymoon when we got attacked. The man is my friend.”
The teenager clearly didn’t understand half those words.
“Jonathan!” Erina shouted with relief, and rushed towards her husband, wrapping her arm around his neck. She looked at him, “How did your wounds get healed?”
“I…” Jonathan thought, how did they get healed? He still felt the pain in his body after he landed. Had the teenager healed him? He looked at the boy, “You can heal?”
“Heal?”
“Fix body?”
“Yes, Crazy Diamond fix your wounds.” the boy smiled, “You feel good?”
“Hello young sir…” Erina approached the Japanese boy, “Can you tell us anywhere for us to stay?” The Europeans understood what Erina was doing: She was trying to figure out how they got here.
“What is your name?” Jonathan added.
“My name is Josuke Higashikata.” the boy answered. His voice was a bit monotone, like he was unsure if he was saying something correctly. English clearly isn’t a language he’s confident in.
Erina smiled, “Can you show us around this place?”
Josuke nodded, and they all followed him as he showed them around the town. It was a strange place, there were obviously technical developments that far exceeded the 1880s here, so much so to the point they had to do double takes at some of the things to see if they really were what they thought.
“This is the café, my friends come here with me.” Josuke explained as he showed them a place with many tables and chairs. It was a quaint place, with a few people littered at the tables. At one of the tables, a short boy with silver hair waved to Josuke and said something in the language they didn’t understand. The two started talking to each other as Josuke led the Europeans to the table.
“This is my friend, Koichi.” Josuke said to them, and he said something to Koichi in the language.
“Hello!” Koichi waved to them, “Jonathan, Robert, and Erina, correct?” His voice was also a bit uncertain in regards to speaking English, but it sounded much better than Josuke’s.
“Yep!” Speedwagon nodded as he held his hand out to shake Koichi’s hand, who surprisingly shook it back.
“I need to help Josuke with his English.” Koichi chuckled, “I should get my girlfriend to tutor him like she did me.” Josuke shuddered at the thought, “Anyways, if you don’t mind me asking, why are you three dressed weirdly?”
The three looked at each other, and Speedwagon looked back at the teenager, “We’re British.”
“I can tell, your accents are throwing me off.” Koichi chuckled, “But, you’re dressed like old people. What brings you to Japan?”
“We…” Erina started, “We don’t know…”
“You don’t?” Koichi’s face hardened ever so slightly, “How did you get here?”
“We don’t know.” Jonathan noted, “We were on a boat about to explode one minute, and the next minute we’re here.”
“Wait, it was what?” Speedwagon stared at the couple.
“Dio’s still alive-“
“Dio?” Koichi interrupted Erina, “How do you know that name?”
“Jotaro killed Dio,” Josuke noted, “he is not living.”
“I don’t know who Jotaro is,” Jonathan started, “but-“ then he stopped. He figured it out. They’re not in 1889 anymore. Dio’s been killed by this Jotaro person, the technical developments, the way they’re dressed strangely and old-fashioned by Koichi’s standards, it makes so much sense.
“But what?” Koichi asked, his head cocked to the side.
“What year is it?” Jonathan asked.
“1999.” Josuke stated.
“Oh shit.” Speedwagon grumbled. He stepped forward. “Well, is this… Jotaro… around?”
Koichi nodded. “Hold on, I need to say something to Josuke.”
Koichi turned to his friend, beginning to speak in his native language. “Where the hell did these guys come from?”
“I don’t know!” Josuke grumbled, sounding exasperated, “I was just wandering around the docks when they just came out of the sky with a big flash of light!” He shook his head. “The Jonathan guy was completely beaten up when I found him. I bet that if I hadn’t been there at that moment, he’d be dead.”
“Should we get Jotaro involved? What if they’re stand users?” Koichi sounded concerned. Are these guys stand users?
“Can’t be. They would have seen my Crazy Diamond.” Josuke recalled, “I had my stand out when they all woke up, and none of them acknowledged it.”
Koichi sighed. “Well, they know Dio. We should tell Jotaro about them.”
Josuke looked at the group of British people, “What if they were followers of Dio?”
“They seem to not like Dio.” Koichi groaned. “Let’s just take them to Jotaro. He knows English, right?”
“We get it, I’m failing English class.” Josuke pouted, “No need to rub it in.”
Koichi sighed, looking back at the British group.
“We’ll take you to Jotaro.” Koichi said in English, “Come with us.” And with that, they stood up and led them down the sidewalk. Josuke sat behind them, seemingly suspicious of them and watching for any funny business. Jonathan looked at Josuke. There was a look in his eyes. While he looks at them with suspicion now, before he had a look of kindness in his eyes. What in the world is Crazy Diamond?
Speedwagon leaned into Jonathan, “Listen mate, that Josuke kid gives me bad vibes. I’m liking that Koichi bloke, but I’m not so sure about Josuke.”
“Well, they both had heard of Dio before, and it seems like they’re not fans of him, so I think it’s safe to say they don’t mean harm.” Jonathan responded.
“I’m still suspicious of them both.” Erina added, “I don’t know what this Crazy Diamond thing is, and I’m scared to know.”
“Well, the lad healed your wounds, didn’t he?” Speedwagon recalled.
“I guess we’ll just have to see who this Jotaro man is.” Jonathan shook his head in worry.
“I can hear you.” Koichi stated, “Don’t worry, we don’t bite. Jotaro might, but he won’t since you’re not stand users.”
