Work Text:
“That handkerchief was even dearer to me once I got it back than it had been when it was taken.”
“Why?”
“It was given me by Malesherbes, -- I called him Willy – who defended Louis XVI, unsuccessfully of course. Willy met Madame La Guillotine too, later. I knew Louis very slightly, but Willy was a sweet man who wept whenever he spoke of Louis. He told me Louis had decided not to cry at his execution, as all eyes would be upon him.”
“Oh, Doctor!”
“Tegan, if a King could stay dry-eyed facing execution, surely a Time Lord could too.”
