Description:

The Fifth Doctor's experiences as a prisoner of war. The imprisonment itself is set right after "The Awakening," as Tegan and Turlough are enjoying a sojourn on Earth; we assume the Doctor, also visiting with Tegan's grandfather, slips away to return Will to his proper time and then takes the opportunity, being alone, to visit friends in Crovan on the square planet of Gralt. When he returns to Little Hodcombe, after being imprisoned for two years in Thlynkt, Crovan's neighbor and enemy nation,10 days have passed on Earth. The conversations about his imprisonment take place after he and his companions leave Little Hodcombe but before "Frontios."

Notes:

This series' tags (correctly) include implied torture. The fourth entry (unlike the first three and last two, not a drabble) has torture more than just implied. It's not gratuitous but it may be triggering for some. By the way, this series is marked as complete because I think as I type this that I have said what I need to say about the experience at the center of the series, but if I wake up one day and find myself needing to say more, I'll come back and do that! I'm not anticipating that, but as the Doctor said in "The Caves of Androzani," "Life often springs these little surprises."
