Chapter Text
“Kurt, my man! Come look at this!”
“Coming Ram!”
Kurt ran down the school corridor towards Ram.
“It’s Heather Chandler’s diary!”
“Chandler keeps a diary?”
“Yeah, look! All her entries are about Veronica!” Ram’s voice comes out quickly as he opens the diary. There are pages and pages filled with Veronica’s name and things she’s done. Like how she dropped a pen in English. It’s clear Heather is smitten.
Kurt looks at Ram. “Should we tell Heather we saw this?”
“Nah, but let’s put it in her locker, so she knows someone’s seen it.”
And that’s what they did. They knew Heather’s locker combination, so they skipped maths to set it up. They chatted, just enjoying listening to the sound of eachother’s voices. But they had socks on, so it’s not gay.
And then it was the next period.
Kurt and Ram headed to the locker rooms to change for gym. Ram took off his shirt to change, and Kurt found himself stealing small glances at his bare chest.
“No homo,” he thought to himself, and honestly believing it. He could’ve sworn he saw Ram’s eyes trail up and down his chest once or twice, but he put it down to his imagination. Kurt watched as the linebacker pulled his gym shirt on, observing how the shirt stuck to Ram’s muscles. He figured, “people check out their best friends all the time, right?” But he couldn’t help but feel like he wanted to see more than just glances of his friend’s chest. “No,” he thought. “That would be kinda gay, Kurt.”
Gym passed fairly quickly, and soon enough, the next lesson came along. Science.
Science was another one of those fast classes, especially today. They got to do experiments that day, using Bunsen burners and chemicals. Easy, fun, and the teacher was nice. Kurt and Ram partnered with eachother, being best friends of course they would.
And just like the first half of the day, the second half flew by.
And before he knew it, Kurt was sitting in his room. Thinking. Wondering. He could hear his dad shouting at his little sister about how she was “too young to be kissing boys”, and hearing his sister’s argument of “but I love him!”
The bickering was muffled slightly as Kurt closed his bedroom door. He was pretty tired, but he decided to stay up a while. And as hours passed, he stayed in his room, only leaving to bring food to his room, or to go to the bathroom. He opened his window, and just sat on his bed, listening to the radio and drawing random things in his notebook. He was actually really good at drawing, and he was currently studying anatomy. Or at least, that was what he told himself, though in reality it was probably an excuse to draw shirtless men. He didn’t find it attractive though.
Right?
The soft glow of the moon shone through his window, filling the dark room with a silvery glow. The lights were off, despite Kurt drawing. The light from outside was enough. He looked down at one of his drawings, admiring his work. Though, the face and overall build he drew looked pretty familiar. The dark, curly hair, the pale skin, the light shading of the jeans, it looked unmistakably like…
Surely not.
It couldn’t be.
But as he looked closer and closer at the tiniest details, Kurt realised who he had drawn.
Ram.
Somehow, he had accidentally drawn his best friend.
Somehow, he had accidentally drawn his best friend shirtless.
His mind was spinning from one thought to another, until eventually it went quiet. Minutes of sitting in silence turned into hours, until the warm glow of the sun filtered through the windows.
And then it hit him.
