Genma posted a tweet on his main account to let everyone know that he was streaming. His starting soon screen was visible for everyone as he played some (DMCA free) background music, humming the melody. Mainly, he was stalling – he didn’t even think he’d be streaming today, so he just waited for everyone to get the notification.
"Hi, everyone!” said Genma as he turned on his camera. He was wearing an oversized hoodie he grabbed from his closet – he was too lazy to do laundry, and this was one of the few clean items he could find – and his pyjama pants were hidden from the view of the camera, so it wasn’t like anyone would know he was a mess. His brown hair was tied in a ponytail – when Genma did it during his stream the other day, everyone went crazy. So, since Genma was a little shit, he did it again.
The chat started saying hi to Genma and asking what was on the agenda today. "Right! Today’s plan is pretty simple, honestly,” said Genma, his eyes darting towards the chat on his second monitor. "Are you gonna talk about Ebisu?” he read one of the messages and barked out a laugh. "Listen, guys, I am making a whole video about Ebisu streaming on Kick, trust me. It’s, uh, it’s getting edited. By Raidou,” he admitted, scratching the back of his neck.
Really, poor Raidou, the footage he sent was over an hour long, and Raidou had already screamed at him for it. Even though, the angry voice memos were hilarious.
"But no, we’re not going to talk about this today. We have a little gaming session planned. It’s gonna be me, Asuma, Kurenai, and a very special guest,” said Genma, turning down the volume of a song. He couldn’t help, but chuckle at all the guesses. "Nope, you’re all wrong. We haven’t played with this person before.”
Genma was a bit nervous. Kurenai invited the one and only Hatake Kakashi to play with them – Genma absolutely loved his videos and streams. Kakashi would mainly talk about his life experiences as someone who battled depression from a very young age. His self-deprecating jokes were hilarious, and his voice was addicting. On top of that, Kakashi was hot . And even that was an understatement. He barely showed his face on the internet, considering the whole mask thing he had going on, but holy fuck, it was enough for Genma to have the biggest parasocial crush that had ever existed.
"Oh, they’re already in the vc? Alright, let’s go,” mumbled Genma as he read the chat as he clicked on the voice chat, waiting to get connected. “Hey, guys.”
"Genma, hi,” said Kurenai.
"Hey, man,” greeted Asuma.
"Is our special guest here?” asked Genma. "The chat is getting impatient.”
"He’s running late,” sighed Kurenai. "But he should be here any minute.”
The familiar sound of someone joining the discord, sounded throughout the voice chat. "Uh, hello.”
He sounds so hot .
"Kakashi! Finally!” exclaimed Kurenai.
"What took you so long?” asked Asuma, laughing.
"Sorry, Obito was being annoying. He was having a breakdown about how I’m going to replace him and Rin,” said Kakashi with a sigh.
Genma couldn’t even find the right words to say something. He was blankly staring at the screen as his brain desperately tried to catch up with everything that was happening, while his chat was asking if he was okay. It was safe to say that Genma was far from being okay.
"Genma, why are you so quiet?” asked Asuma.
"Is everything okay?” asked Kakashi. "Any technical difficulties?”
"Nope, you just sound very hot,” blurted out Genma. Ah, that’s getting clipped.
"Oh!” mumbled Kakashi. "Thank you. I appreciate the compliment. Really.”
"No problem, man,” mumbled Genma and muted himself. "Chat, I am going to jump out of the window, live on twitch dot tv.”
Genma looked at his phone, frowning at the screen as he saw that Asuma texted him – he was full on clowning on him. Asuma was fully aware of Genma’s internet crush, and he just had to use any opportunity to make fun of him.
The gaming session went great, it was a normal game of Valorant. Genma would bite his tongue anytime Kakashi cursed under his breath, or grunt in frustration. God, Genma wanted to say so many things, but obviously none of them would get him to heaven, so he stayed strong and kept his mouth shut. And he was being very brave about it, too.
"It’s alright, you've got this, Kakashi,” said Genma when Kakashi died.
"Thank you,” replied Kakashi with a soft laugh. Genma loved that sound. "I haven’t played Valorant in ages, Obito usually drags me into it.”
"I heard you two live together,” mused Genma.
"Yeah, Obito and Rin are my roommates. They’ve been dating for a long time, and I’m their third-wheel,” explained Kakashi. “It’s a lot of fun, really.”
"Oh, I see, I see,” mumbled Genma as he nodded. Was it stupid to be jealous of two random streamers he had never met before? Maybe (it absolutely was stupid, but that was besides the point). Did Genma care? Absolutely not.
Chat, on the other hand, was making fun of him: jealous much? you should rename yourself to kakashi_enjoyer. GENMA HAS A CRUSH.
"Are you two done flirting?” asked Asuma with a sigh. Genma almost forgot they weren’t the only ones in the lobby. "Come on, come on! Let’s get to platinum!”
They, in fact, didn’t get to platinum. It might’ve been mainly because Asuma was getting distracted by Kurenai, or maybe it was because that anytime Kakashi said something, Genma’s brain froze. His voice was hypnotizing, and it made Genma’s head spin.
Both of them were rather pathetic, but, hey, it wasn’t something they had to admit right away. They could put it in a metaphorical box, place it under a metaphorical bed, and deal with it later (in Genma’s case, probably never).
"Okay, guys,” said Kurenai with a laugh. "I feel like that was enough Valorant for today. We’re all getting distracted for very different reasons, so let’s call it a day, alright?”
"Oh, absolutely,” agreed Asuma.
"Of course, you agree, you fucking simp,” mumbled Genma, rolling his eyes.
"Do you really wanna talk about who is the real simp here?” asked Asuma.
"Fuck off.”
"Thank you for letting me join you today,” Kakashi chimed in, as if to defuse the slight tension. "I really enjoyed playing with you, guys.”
"Feel free to join us anytime you want!” exclaimed Genma. "You can text me,” he cleared his throat, "or anyone, anytime you want. Only if you want, of course.”
Great fucking job, Genma.
"Thank you, Genma,” said Kakashi. "Well, I will be off for tonight. See you guys, maybe, soon?”
"Oh, absolutely, man,” agreed Asuma.
"Say hi to Rin and Obito for me,” said Kurenai, before Kakashi left the voice chat. "Do you wanna play something else?”
"I’ll let you lovebirds have an e-date. I’m tired as fuck, so I’m going to end the stream, anyway,” said Genma as he stretched. They all said their goodbyes and Genma left the voice chat.
Genma looked at the chat and started quickly thanking all the donos and subs he missed throughout the game. "Thank you genma’s simp for 17 months, I really appreciate you,” he said, laughing at the name. "Okay, guys, this will be it for tonight. I hope you enjoyed the stream. Don’t forget to follow and check out all the social media. The video about the whole Ebisu and Kick situation will be posted probably tomorrow. In Raidou we trust, so keep an eye out. Alright, love you, bye!” Genma turned off the stream, going offline.
Before Genma turned off his computer, he went through some of the messages on discord that he had missed while streaming. Then, he noticed a message from Kakashi, and he hesitantly opened it:
i think you sound pretty hot, too .
Genma couldn’t be happier that he wasn’t streaming anymore.
