Maddie didn’t think this was how her life was going to end. She thought it would be many, many years from now. In a nice little retirement home. Not under a giant robots foot. A giant robot controlled by a madman. She heard her alien hedgehog. Son. Mumble something, it sounded like no. She just wishes she had 5 more minutes. Tell Sonic how much he means to her, tell him how much he is loved. (Her husband too, of course.) But that’s not going to happen. Maddie looked down at Sonic, the big green rock he had in his hands, had just crumbled to piece’s . He tried to pick up the shards, but they just fell through his gloved hands. He looked up at her and Tom.
“You- You have to get out of here. Leave me!” Sonic must think the sun didn’t rise today because there was no way she was leaving him. She looked at her husband, she could tell his mind was made up, like hers. They were a family.
“We’re with you till the end.” Tom said, grip around her shoulder tightening.
“We’re not going anywhere.” She added for good measure. She could see the tears in Sonic’s large eyes. Her eyes also betraying her. Sonic pushed himself back a little, making more contact. She could feel his fur, usually so soft, but it was rough and tangled. A testament to what he went through. And she couldn’t protect him then, and she couldn’t do anything now.
“I love you guys.” No more words had to be said. There was a slight creaking above them. She didn’t look up. She wanted her last moments to be looking at her husband and son. Her chest swelled with all kinds of emotions, anger, sadness, fear, but the one she felt the most was love. Love she felt for her family. So when the foot came down, she closed her eyes, pulling in her boys as tight as she could, and love was the only thing she felt. Maddie didn’t notice the emeralds by Sonic’s feet glow and rise, forming a circle, they rushed towards her. Hearing her love.
Maddie could have sworn she could hear a pen drop on the moon. As instead of the unfeelingness of death, she could feel everything. Know everything. The universe was within her grasp. But none of that mattered. Right now, in this moment, only 2 things mattered. She looked down, they were okay. A golden light cast upon them. Chasing away the darkness, chasing away the fear. She slowly stood up, the foot moving with her, no match for her power. Maddie could see Tom and Sonic out the corner of her eye. Confused, rightfully so as they should be dead. Till they looked to her, and their eyes widened. Sonic seemed to widen in pure wonder and excitement. Tom… was a different kind of excitement. With a nod from Tom and a ‘Go get him!” from Sonic. She went through the giant metal foot , causing the robot to take a couple of steps back.
She could hear him, Robotnik, even through all the metal. She could hear him say, “Impossible.” She would show him impossible. He messed with her family. Messed with her husband. Messed with her son. Messed with everyone. She just didn’t know how to make him pay yet. She had unimaginable power at her fingertip, but didn’t know how to proceed. Maybe she could just pick it up and throw it to the sun. Her decision would be made for her as one of the gigantic metal fist came flying at her. Really? With a raised brow, she raised her arm and stopped the thousand-ton arm in its track. The metal taking on a golden glow. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw her boys. Still in the danger zone. She would not put them at risk. Not needing a manual, the power buzzed within her.
Laser eyes. Laser eyes are cool. From her eyes, which had taken a golden hue, two beams of golden light shot from them. Striking the arm, it cut through the steel like a knife cuts through butter. Completely severing the arm from the machine’s body. However, the metal appendage never hit the ground. She’s not going to inconvenience her boys by making them move. She’s going to make Robotnik move. She twirled her body, doing a 360. The arm following her, reached a critical speed before it collided with the giant mech. “Hey batter batter.” The impact forced the titan to take multiple steps back. But Maddie wasn’t done. She flew forward, intending to punch it, but instead she just flew straight threw it. Leaving a human sized hole. That works too. She flew through it again, then again, then again. Till it looked like swiss cheese . A giant, metallic, slice of swiss cheese. The other arm came flying at her, a desperate attempt. Wasn’t even worth her attention, as she quite literally slapped it away. The force sent the hand right off the arm.
But it wasn’t just the machine that needed to be dealt with. Hardening her gaze, Maddie waved her hand above her head in a circle motion before throwing out a rope of energy that wrapped around the head of mech. With a pull the head came off and revealed the man behind the mask. The one that threatened her family and almost killed them.
“I like the look. How about we just call it even? I did some things, you… have probably did things in the past that were bad. We both can be good people” He shrugged and joked. Like he almost just didn’t take away those most precious from her. No, he wouldn’t terrorize her family, the world anymore. Feeling energy crackle at her hand, Maddie was ready to end it once and for all. But before she let the energy loose. She noticed the mountain in front of her. An entire section of it was charred, destroyed. The plant life, any wild life, was gone. She did that. The energy in her hand faded away as she looked around. All this destruction, needless destruction, and for what? She looked back, Sonic was watching her, Tom was watching her. She looked back to Robotnik. She was better then him, she won’t kill him. He’s already defeated. How could she look at Sonic when he watched her kill someone out of revenge. What kind of example would she set?
“It’s over. You’re going away for a very long time.”
“like… to Tahiti?” She held out her hand and the machine began to fall apart. There wouldn’t be any more senseless destruction. Soon, Robotnik and his minion were just ants on the ground. Where she made a prison around them, keeping them from escaping. From causing her family any more problems. They are guns problem now. Now? She had a family to get back too.
Maddie floated over to Sonic and Tom. Sonic’s little fox friend and some red animal were close by. She touched down on the ground but before any words were spoken. The red animal spoke up.
“Wait. She possess the power of the emerald. Her mind may not be sane.” She is perfectly sane, but she’ll prove it. Maddie looked over at Sonic and Tom. They were both filthy, Sonic especially. With a snap of her fingers. All the dirt and gunk disappeared. Leaving their bodies clean from all impurities. That must have been evidence enough as Sonic collided against her, his arms wrapped around her waist as he hugs her. And for a second, she could have sworn his fur flickered golden. But that didn’t matter. She returned the hug as best as she could. Before sonic broke off and broke into a excited monologue.
“Oh my God. Oh my God! You should have seen yourself! You were-are like all golden and flew! Just like super man! Oh man. You totally beat Eggman up.” Sonic spun around in a circle. “The way you hit him with his own arm! And eyes lasers! It was the coolest thing I’ve even seen!.” Tom walked up and placed a hand on the hyper active blue hedgehog’s shoulder.
“He’s right you know? You were amazing out there. Gorgeous too.” She raised a brow. “But that’s nothing new.” That was a good answer.
Before she could respond, the energy left her. 7 emeralds raised above her head and shot off. And she was back to normal Maddie which was fine by her. Being a god is cool and all, but being a mother? That’s the best.
