Chapter Text
The night was silent and calm as Danny flew above the streets of Amity Park while everyone slept.. Too quiet. Too calm. In a word? It was boring.
“There's gotta be something to do.” Danny grumbled against the wind. Well. Something under than Lancer’s stupid report on the Scarlet Letter.
As if by some divine providence a flash of light caught Danny’s eye. Slowly he turned his head to find himself right outside the mayor’s office and staring at himself in the tinted windows. The mayor. Messing with Vlad sounded way more fun than shitty schoolwork. No doubt he was scheming something anyway, right? It was Vlad they were talking about!
Danny stopped dead in his tracks and turned invisible. Approaching the windows he pressed his hands against the glass, frosting them ever so slightly before intangibly pushing his way inside.
The office was dark and warm, smelling of printer paper and a dark cologne that Danny could instantly pin as Vlad’s from the scent clinging to the man when they fought. His landing was muffled by thick carpet, and Danny glanced around as the glow of moonlight did it's best to illuminate the office. It was quiet. Peaceful in a way that felt like a blanket.
A rumbling snore made Danny about jumped from his skin, hand clamped over his mouth so as not to shout.
No. . . Was he really?
Floating up off the ground, Danny’s eyes widened as he curled up and over the large chair to find. . . Vlad. Sleeping on the desk with his head cradled on his arms.
Something about the moment caught in Danny’s chest. He'd never seen the old man so. . . Tranquil. Peaceful. The crease between his brow was relaxed, and every feature was softened. Even his ponytail had begun to undo itself to loosen around his face.. The thought of waking him up. . . It made Danny uncomfortable. He should probably just go home and do his project, let the night stay peaceful.
Swirling around, Danny braced a hand on the desk before pressing a fleeting kiss to Vlad’s brow, then flew back out the way he came. He should probably just go home and do his project, let the night stay peaceful
