Small AU. Fairies and dragons, Valentino is the huge lonely Dragon and Angel and the rest are fearful fairies.

Work Text:

The little fairy lazily opens his eyes, his whole body hurts, especially his back, he stretches his four arms, he feels too comfortable, he smiles and rubs his sleepy eyes, now everything is clearer.

A pair of huge scarlet eyes stare at him. His tiny heart beats at full speed, he can feel it hitting his chest, suddenly, the white and comfortable area ends and the fairy falls, he hits the rocky ground violently, he wants to fly but he can't, he runs as fast as his long but small legs allow him.

"Oh, my little Angelito," the thick voice says with surprise and concern upon seeing the tiny fairy, on the verge of a heart attack.

The Fairy leans against the walls of the gigantic, damp and gloomy cave. "If you don't stop behaving like a foolish fumigated fly, you'll never recover," the great dragon says and catches the fairy between his enormous golden claws.

—PLEASE DON'T HURT ME! — The fairy cries desperately and curls up inside the soft, capturing claws.

—Why would I hurt you, Angelito? — the dragon asks, then exhales pink smoke in the little fairy's face.

Now his whole body feels so lethargic, the fairy begins to relax little by little, he begins to fall asleep, but the huge golden claw taps his head to keep him awake.

—Hey, don't fall asleep! — the dragon demands.

—I'm tired, I want to go home — the fairy answers, with his eyes half open.

—How is it that an Angel has fallen from heaven to hell? — the dragon asks, but he doesn't receive an answer, the fairy looks at him with fear.

—I'm Valentino — the dragon introduces himself and smiles tenderly.

The fairy thinks a little, he doesn't know if it's safe to give his information to the wild Dragon.

—Angel! — the dragon interrupts, — your name will be Angel — Valentino says seriously, his deep voice echoes in the cave. The fairy doesn't say anything, he doesn't want to cause the dragon's anger, according to what his father has told him, dragons are very dangerous and violent.

—My cute little Angel — a huge smile appears on the face of the dragon Valentino. —I will take care of you and soon you will be able to fly, but not too far from me, okay? — Valentino's bright red eyes stare at "Angel". The fairy nods silently.

...

—Are you hungry? — Valentino offers a piece of meat to the fairy, Angel shows a forced smile and looks at the meat, he doesn't eat meat, he's a fairy. But he's starving. Finally Angel rejects the food and lies down.

Valentino doesn't like it when his little pet says No, he feels frustrated. The dragon devours the meat and flies out of his shelter. The fairy walks to the cave exit, the dragon lives on the top of a mountain. He looks into the void, certain death

His family and friends must be very worried, he should never have crossed the boundaries of the fairy kingdom, his brother is right, he only knows how to cause trouble. He will have to wait until his wing is completely healed and strong.

...

It is night, when Valentino returns to the cave, the great dragon throws a corpse in some corner of the cave, to immediately look for his little pet.

—Angel~ — the dragon calls. —My little fussy boy, I have a gift for you— Valentino takes the fairy in his hands, looks at him tenderly and offers him a few berries and seeds, it was to be expected, everything outside the fairy world, is gigantic, so this is the smallest thing the dragon could get, he even brought some strawberries and a mango.

After eating, the fairy walks around the cave, he is bored; suddenly, he finds the corpse that the dragon brought. From the shock, the fairy falls on her butt.

—I need to eat too, darling— says Valentino with a huge smile and buries one of his golden claws in the abdomen of that body, to tear off a large piece of meat and devour it.

...

Life with to the dragon is quite pleasant, who would have imagined? Valentino usually takes Angel for a walk, on his head or in his front claws.

Angel's wing has healed a long time ago, but leaving Valentino has become so difficult; he doesn't know how the dragon will react, Valentino is so overprotective. Especially Violent, he has seen him kill other dragons. No wonder Valentino is difficult to deal with, only Angel has learned to understand him.

Angel misses his family and friends, but he knows that when he returns again, sooner or later, they will judge and criticize him, scold him and repress him. With Valentino he is so free, he can do whatever he wants, of course, as long as Val can be nearby watching over him, taking care of him.

A gigantic dragon and a tiny fairy.

...

—I've never told you my name, Val— The little fairy snuggles up to the side of the dragon's paw.

The dragon looks at him confused and raises an eyebrow. "You're Angel, you're my Angelito" Valentino says as if it were the most obvious thing. The fairy sighs resignedly and nods his head.

—Yes Val— Angel rolls his eyes and laughs, maybe it's better this way.

Lying on the outskirts of the cave, on the top of the mountain, both creatures contemplate the starry sky.

...

On one of his many walks, Angel decides to cool off under the stream of a waterfall, while next to the river, the dragon dozes, a light sleep to keep an eye on Angel.

A small mischievous pet and his apprehensive and neurotic owner.

—Anthony?, Tony!, oh Tony— a small cyclops fairy runs up to Angel.

—Cherri!— Angel shouts happily and both hug each other under the water.

—Where the hell have you been?!, we've been looking for you non-stop.

—Angel— calls the thick and somber voice of the dragon, who immediately tries to catch his pet's fairy friend, but she is faster and throws some powder into Valentino's eyes, leaving him partially blind.

—We're going to save you Tony!— Cherri shouts and escapes from the furious dragon.

 ...

There were no more walks, Angel did everything possible to calm the dragon, he promised not to escape, he did not insist on leaving the cave, he did everything, but still, Valentino has become more grumpy and insecure.

How dare they try to steal his precious Angel?! Valentino does not go out unless it is very necessary.

Unfortunately, fairy tales are just that, fairy tales.

While both slept in the depths of the cave, a whole squadron of intruding fairies invaded the cave, boy was it exhausting to fly to the top of that mountain, but they would not give up until they "saved" Anthony, who knows what horrible things have happened next to that nefarious dragon.

Dozens of small arrows begin to stick into the Dragon's scaly body. This doesn't cause any harm, but it is annoying. At that moment Valentino spreads his imposing red wings, Angel looks at them with admiration, they are so beautiful, red and soft, Valentino is a mixture of sweetness and malice, perfectly balanced, a beautiful vessel to contain immense power and rage.

Angel is afraid, he doesn't want Val to kill his friends, but he knows that none of them will give up.

The dragon exhales his pink smoke, the one that numbs, he wants to burn them all but he is holding back. Why? "Don't kill them, please" Angel whispers in his ear, the fairy is hidden in the fur on his neck. "I won't leave, I promise." Angel says, Valentino lowers his guard.

—I'm fine! Please, stop! — Angel shouts, but it is in vain, no one hears him, everyone is focused on finishing off the dragon.

One of the arrows accidentally hits Angel's arm and he falls from Valentino's head to the ground, the furious dragon finally releases a large puff of fire, managing to burn several fairies.

—Nooooo! — Angel screams and lets himself fall in pain, the worried Valentino stays very still and the warriors take advantage to annihilate him. While the less injured go to help Angel, the Fairy commander "Vaggie", prepares one of her special arrows and aims directly at the dragon's heart.

While Angel is urgently taken to his kingdom, to give him first aid. Valentino accepts his fate before Vaggie and with closed eyes, he inevitably sheds tears, not from fear, but from pain; in the end he could not protect his beloved Angelito.

...

—Anthony!— The fairy princess is calling, Charlie. Receiving no response from Tony, the princess runs to Tony and hugs him. —We miss you so much. Don’t leave again.

—I'm fine, thank you, I just, I just want to rest— Angel  had a great speech to fight and reproach her, But in the end, he said nothing.

From the coldness of his cave, a solitary dragon contemplates the starry sky, which reminds him of his little smiling Angelito. With bitterness the beast roars to the sky, that roar is heard beyond his domain.

The group of fearful fairies fly back home, hearing that wild lament, however, one of them stops and looks at the sky and smiles, the stars are as bright as the eyes of his beloved Valentino, that kind dragon who took care of him until the last moment.

And although it is painful, "Angel" knows that he must not return to the mountain, for the safety of that kind Dragon.
