Nora blinks trying to clear the blurriness from her eyes, the mountain of papers staring back at her. Never in her life did she think she would be sitting here at a desk job. Though she also never thought she would be a vessel for a demon so…..
But Ava was trusting her now and this was the only way she could get out in the field faster to find Ray. Well “Ner-Ray” as the legends were now calling him.
“Hey-O!” a bright voice interrupts from the doorway.
It was Mona, a bright smile on her face and what seemed to be a potted plant resting in her hands.
Nora's face contorting into a smile with an almost magical ease at the entrance of the woman. She's always able to do that.
“I CAN NOT believe you're working here now! Don't tell Ava but I was always rooting for you to break out and-”
“Mona.” Nora interrupts. She doesn't mind the distraction or the other woman's rants sometimes but she clearly came in here for a specific reason.
“Oh right! I brought you this welcoming gift. You can name it whatever you want, though I do have a list of cute plant names if you need them. B.t.w”
When it's placed in front of her Nora notices it's a cactus.
“They don't need much but they're still beautiful when you give just the right amount of care and love.” Mona says
It's a really beautiful statement. Nora steels herself, trying not to let her heart melt, a useless battle at this point.
“Thank you.” the smile on her face widening
If Mona hears the waterish tone in her voice she at least spares Nora's little bit of pride and pretends she doesn't. But instead gives her a joyful goodbye
“See you around co-worker!!”
Nora turns back to the papers with a new found excitement. Pulling the potted plant slightly closer to her
