Work Text:
The hissing of the door alerts Zari to the entrance of someone. Trying not to move so the pounding feeling in her head doesn't become worse. Though she already knows who it is since she told Gideon not to let anyone else but them in.
“Charlie?” a congested voice calls out.
“Yeah luv it's me, and I brought you some stuff.”
Forcing herself to sit up slightly, the pressure causing her sinuses ache. Pulling a groan from her lips.
A mug and a pair of hands covered with silver jewelry come into view.
“I got Gids to make you some throat soothing tea, and I put some of your dragon ash stuff for immune health in it.” Charlie says.
Zari smiles, taking the cup as it's handed to her. It's probably just a placebo effect but as she drinks the tea she can already feel the soothing effect.
“I also brought you a bunch of heavy painkillers so you can use your phone without getting a headache.”
Charlie says as she pulls the medication out of her jacket. Zari grabs them immediately and takes them with tea.
“THANK you.”
Sipping on the tea some more before putting it down and waiting for the effects of the tea and medication to kick in. The bed next to her legs dip from the weight of Charlie sitting down.
“God It feels almost embarrassing to have someone see you when you look this terrible.” Zari almost whines out.
“You're supposed to look terrible, you're sick.”
“Thanks.”
“But they also say in sickness and in health and all that, don't they?”
“Those are wedding vows”.
Instead of replying Charlie simply taps the other side of her legs before saying “move over some.”
“For what?”
Zari watches as Charlie takes off their leather jacket, throwing it across the end of the bed. Them kicking off their boots and those hitting the floor with sounding thuds, realizing they're getting into the bed with her.
“You're going to get sick.”
“And then you can take care of me.” Charlie replies, throwing an arm across Zari's stomach, resting her head on her chest and pulling themselves firmly against her side.
“And then I would get sick again.”
“Isn't that kind of romantic though? The never ending cycle of sharing each other's sickness out of love from taking care of each other?”
“No.” Zari replies simply but she still pulls Charlie arm more tightly over her, trying to snuggle closer to them.
They don't say much after that, just getting more comfortable and eventually Zari manages to get more rest than she has in the past few days.
When a few days later Charlie lets out a loud sneeze, a shit eating grin sitting wider on her face than it should be for someone who just got a cold. Zari simply gives an Olympic level eye roll and asks Gideon to brew some tea.
