First Kiss

Summary:

"Watching in awe as Zari speaks the lines with ease. He can see now why she was famous, who wouldn't see her and be captivated by her?"

Charlie plays Romeo during the 5x08 scene

For Femslash February day 6: First Kiss

Notes:

They're were rumors of a deleted scene of Zari kiss Amaya in the 3X11 scripts so I decided to write where I think a deleted kissing scene between Charlie and Zari 2.0 could go. Also I've havent read Romeo and Juliet so...

Work Text:

The frilly collar around Charlie's throat itches, He thinks this whole having to be a part of the play was just a punishment from Sara for getting sloshed during the mission. It had to be.

They were forced to wear this itchy costume and perform in (Charlie's opinion) one of Shakespeare's more mediocre plays. And to top it off Nate was their scene partner, who they already had to kiss once. Who had run off in the middle of the scene leaving Charlie hanging.

After a few quips Charlie considers walking off the stage too but they see Sara peeking from behind the curtain encouraging them to stay.

So they wait a little bit longer and when they're ready to try the walking off the stage option again the curtain on the balcony opens again. And out walks Zari…

It's asinine but Charlie can finally understand how Romeo is supposed to feel in this scene. The juvenile feeling of being so encaptured by someone's beauty that the only thing you can think about is how you NEED to see them again.

Maybe that's why it's much easier to get into the role now. Watching in awe as Zari speaks the lines with ease. He can see now why she was famous, who wouldn't see her and be captivated by her?

The kiss is something Charlie can't predict. It's more chaste than they've ever allowed themselves to be a part of, But it's still captivating. When the kiss breaks and the scene ends Charlie finds that Zari is the only thing they can think about while going through the motions of the rest of the play.

Before he manages to go to sleep that night he frames the original script of the scene. Setting it next to the other trinkets he saved from other legends missions he wants to remember most.
