Summary
A surprise flood has devastated Elmore. The people hide in ruined homes on higher ground as the world outside of town remains eerily quiet. Two weeks have passed and the vast floodwaters have yet to calm, and every day they rise more and more.
Carrie Krueger wishes it would all just drain away. The home her family left her at the top of the hill, once empty, now bustles with survivors who'd escape the storm. While content with waiting everything out, Carrie finds herself an unwilling leader to her seasick guests who demand to leave Elmore behind. Though she is confident any attempt is sure to fail there's no certainty that any change is coming, as the shoreline in her lawn creeps closer to the front door.
Her friend, Gumball, discovered the water appears to be flowing from nothing, right on the edge of the town. Dry land is just on the other side of the border. Though safety appears just out of reach, Carrie still is certain that the only thing that waits for them out on the water is death, and refuses to follow her new family out to try and escape. Till the water itself parts, leading her and her friends into the unseen digital world and the cause of these supernatural phenomena.
