Work Text:

The hotel was a hustle and bustle of Valentine's treats and fun. Four and X made brownies for everyone, which they were all enjoying. Tree could hear two objects sharing a Valentine's kiss, but he couldn't tell where or who. It didn't matter anyways, he really wasn't interested. He couldn't really have the brownies due to sugar having weird effects on him. So, instead, he found that just sitting by himself as everyone else had fun was the best option. Well, there was always Fanny, but she had stated in prior years that she hated Valentine's Day. So what else was there to do?

Fanny walked over to Tree with two brownies - one for her, and one for Tree. She wasn't the hugest fan of brownies, but hey, they aren't bad. She eventually found Tree, sitting next to him, and catching his attention.

"Hey Fanny!" He politely greeted.

"Hey Tree," She replied, "I got you a brownie."

"Oh, thank you, but I don't want one."

"Well more for me then!"

Fanny started to eat one of the brownies, then Marker came and stole the other one. Tree and Fanny both got up to catch the little thief, albeit for different reasons.

"I hate thieves!" Fanny called out to Marker.

"Marker, I don't think you should have a bunch of brownies," Tree expressed much more concern.

Marker ran out of the hotel, with Fanny and Tree right behind. Black Hole noticed the three of them, and caught the brownie thief.

"So, what happened?" Black Hole asked, after catching Marker and putting him down.

"He stole my brownie!" Fanny yelled.

"But you ha-d two of the-m!" Marker yelled back.

Tree stepped in between the two, "Marker, how many brownies have you had already?"

"...This would be my fou-rth one."

"Then I think it's best if we give Fanny her brownie back," Tree reasoned, "Plus, you really shouldn't have too much sugar."

Fanny had her brownie returned to her as Black Hole decided to watch Marker. Fanny and Tree headed back to the hotel, as the two had a light-hearted conversation.

"So, if you don't eat brownies, what do you eat for Valentine's Day?" Fanny asked.

"I don't usually eat anything special," Tree explained.

"Oh. Don't you want something special, though?"

"Hmm... Yeah. I just don't usually get anything special."

"Like, not even candy?"

"I can't handle a lot of sugar. Makes my head feel weird..."

"I hate my friends feeling weird!"

"I do as well."

"...I have an idea. Come on!"

Fanny sprinted off to the hotel, with Tree running behind. Once they got inside, Fanny ran into the kitchen, but Tree had lost sight of her. As such, he went and sat where he was originally sitting, awaiting Fanny's return. When she did return, she had two glasses of lemonade on her head, and gestured for Tree to follow. Following Fanny, the two went up on the roof, where Fanny sat down and let Tree sit next to her.

"So, why do you want the two of us up here?" Tree asked, confused.

"Take a drink. I had Four and X make us two ice-cold lemonades!" Fanny seemed awfully happy for once.

"Oh, ok." Tree took one of the drinks and had a sip. "This is really good!"

"I know!"

The two sat in a simple, magical silence, enjoying their drinks. Tree didn't even notice Fanny get up until she was already pecking a kiss onto Tree's cheek. This was really Valentine's Day: Not some holiday about sugary sweets and romance, but a day to enjoy with your special one. Sure, sometimes it is romantic, but as they watched Black Hole desprately chase around a hyper-active Marker, they also realize it can be platonic as well.

I swear I will (eventually) get back to writing Dealing with Tree-auma.
