Wilbur is always silent, Tommy has never heard him make a sound.
Tommy once asked Wilbur if he could talk, and Wilbur just nodded.
Tommy asked Wilbur why he didn't talk, but Wilbur just shook his head. Almost looking dissapointed in Tommy.
Tommy just, from that point on, never asked Wilbur why he didn't make a sound, because Tommy knows that Wilbur will never answer him.
Tommy doesn't remember the last time Wilbur talked, in Tommy's head; Wilbur never talked.
He once asked Wilbur if he ever did talk. Wilbur nodded, that only made Tommy more confused. Why would his big brother not talk to him?
Tommy and Wilbur are inseparable. They are brother, brothers from the same mother. They're from the same blood. Or.. Tommy thinks they are.
Tommy doesn't remember his parents, they left him when he wasn't even a week year old.
Tommy hates his parents. Deep inside Tommy, he knows that Wilbur doesn't talk because he was left alone to take care of a baby.
Wilbur once told him, over paper, that he couldn't handel taking care of Tommy on his own, Wilbur was only 7 when they were left alone.
They now live in the system. Tommy doesn't like the system, it's all so much. One moment he is in a house and the other moment he is in the car with Madam Nihachu, driving to the next home.
Now is one of those moments. Tommy and Wilbur were placed into a house. Tommy didn't like the man from the beginning.
The man was nice, yes, but Wilbur doesn't like him and that makes Tommy not liking him.
The man didn't talk much to Tommy, he only talked to Wilbur. And that talking to Wilbur was more bullying then talking.
The man kept trying tk make Wilbur talk, Tommy knew that onky made his big brother quieter.
The man repeatedly tried prying Wilbur mouth open, repeating the one sentence that will for always burn into the brothers brains: "You do have a tongue, do you? I don't think you do, why otherwise would you stay quiet all this time."
The man, before all of this, before Madam Nihachu left, introduced himself to the two boys. His name is Dream, Tommy hoped he could say, 'his name was Dream'.
Dream, because of all these reasons, isn't a good fosterparent. He bullies Wilbur and Tommy wants Dream to leave for that.
But even thought all of these things against Dream, Tommy knows they were lucky to be placed there. They weren't beaten, normally that begins when Madam Nihachu left. They would be set to work, set to do everything a fosterparent wanted them to do.
The first time Madam Nihachu came back, she was very concerned about Wilbur and Tommy.
Wilbur didn't even look up when she was talking to him, didn't even make eye contact. She asked about if Dream did something and Wilbur just shrugged.
Madam Nihachu immediatly understood; this is not what she wants for Tommy and Wilbur.
Tommy doesn't know for certain what she wants for them, every time she takes them from a house she tells them: "this isn't good for both of you." Tommy knows she means that this isn't good for Wilbur. She once told him that Wilbur needs a good role model if Tommy ever wants Wilbur to speak. And Tommy understands that, Tommy wants Wilbur to talk as much as Madan Nihachu wants that, maybe even more. But Tommy doesn't know if that dream will ever happen.
Now they are in the car, driving to the next foster home. Madam Nihachu told them that this is a very nice man, he is an old family friend of Madam Nihachu's.
His name is Philza Minecraft. Minecraft like in the game Minecraft. Tommy immediately likes him, or, he likes the name.
"Trust me, boys, this man is nice. He already has a son, his name is Techno. He is around you age, Wilbur, maybe a bit older than."
Tommy looks at Wilbur, Willbur smiles at that, he has always been the older brother in the house. He always needed to take care of Tommy, and, if the new family is nice and Madam Nihachu thinks this is a good house for them, then Wilbur doesn't need worry about constantly being the oldest.
When they reach the house, Wilbur grabs Tommy's hand. Tommy knows what he wants to say; 'this will be a hell of a ride,' but also 'this will he alright' and Tommy believes him.
Niki rings the bell. It's quiet for a moment before the door open.
"Phil, I don't think this is an amazon package!" A boy yells. He has pink hair, he is quite tall, but not taller that Wilbur. What makes Tommy stare at him is that he has red eyes- crimson red eyes.
"Hello, Techno. Could you get your dad?"
"Hello, Niki. Who are that?"
"Your new brothers," Niki tells, her voice warm. "Techno, they're called Wilbur and Tommy."
"Hello, nice to meet you," Techno greats, giving a little wave.
"Nice to meet you too," an unfamiliar voice says. It's a child speaking, his voice is low but raspy, like he hasn't talked in the past few days.
Although Tommy doesn't recognise this voice, he knows who it belongs to.
Tommy can onky stare at his brother.
"Wilbur... was that you?"
Wilbur doesn't look up, keeping his eyes trained on the ground.
"What happened?" Techno asks, Tommy doesn't get how Techno doesn’t understand, his brother just spoke for the first time. He talked!
"Come inside, boys. We need to speak and sort everything out with your father," Madam Nihachu tells them, her excitement almost overpowering the seriousness in her voice.
As Wilbur and Tommy walk inside, Madam Nihachu and Techno stay behind.
"What happened?" Tommy hears Techno ask.
"Wilbur is mute."
"But he spoke?"
"Yes, only now he spoke for the first time since he came into the system. After 9 years."
"Ohh."
After they all came inside in the dining room, Phil directed them at the table.
"Hi, I am Phil," he introduces, "can we do this quickly? The boys need to sleep, it's already late."
After they ended the talk and Phil and Madam Nihachu talked privately, they are all send to bed.
Wilbur and Tommy were placed together in one room, Tommy likes it like that.
Only now he is laying in his new bed, he feels how tired he is, how much he wants to sleep. He closes his eyes, hoping that Phil won't turn out horrible the next day.
He is woken up by a low but soft voice whispering in his ear, he doesn't dare move.
"I will alway love you, Tommy. You are my everything and I will protect you even if that costs me my life." It's his brother, it's Wilbur.. did his brother talk to him everyday?
Tommy like to believe that it wasn't a dream. That every night Wiobur had whispered these words to him.
Telling that Wilbur will always be there for him, alway keep him save.
