“COLIN CHRISTOPHER BRIDGERTON” it echoes through the entire apartment. Colin winces at first, then pulls his head between his shoulders and makes a pained face.
Shit! What did he forget to do? The dishwasher is empty. He took out the trash. A thousand thoughts flash through his mind, without any of them being tangible.
He must have done something wrong, right? Did she ever call him by his full name in that tone of voice? Has she even said his full name since their wedding? He feels reminded of pretty much every mistake he made in his youth, which culminated in his mother shouting his name through the entire house in a similar tone, and really everyone, including every employee, knew in the farthest corner of the house that he had done something that his mum disapproved of.
The memory of the feeling of shame washes over him again and does not exactly contribute to his well-being.
He slowly walks to the kitchen, cautiously puts his head through the door and looks at Penelope uncertainly. “Yes?”
She laughs. Laughs boisterously and he is completely confused. “Don't you know that prank on TikTok? Your face was hilarious! Thank you for the beautiful bouquet of flowers. Colin “my husband” Bridgerton.”
He lets out a sigh of relief, walks towards her and takes her in his arms. “Minx!” he says with a grin, kissing her passionately.
