Work Text:
Taurtis looked around the classroom. Teacher Jane had walked out to the hallway to smoke a cigarette and, as is usual when you leave a bunch of kindergarteners alone, all Hell had broken loose. Kids were running around, playing, yelling, hitting each other… Dom was on top of the teacher’s desk, throwing bits of torn paper around the room while screaming about how he was the ‘king of the school’, and Grian was sitting at his desk trying to read a book and huffing because the noise was too distracting. As Taurtis pondered which group of screaming children he should join, Sam walked up to him, a marker in hand.
“Come with me.” Was all he said, a playful grin on his face.
Taurtis didn’t have to be told twice. He was a bit curious, though, as to where exactly he was following Sam to.
“Where to?” He asked, Sam’s grin infecting his own mouth as his lips twitched upwards.
Sam didn’t say anything, but he pointed at the door near the back of the classroom, leading to the hallway. Taurtis’ eyes widened.
“What? But we’re not allowed to leave the classroom before school ends!” Taurtis said. “Unless we’re going to the bathroom.” He added.
“Just follow me.” Sam said, a bit annoyed, but still grinning.
The two exited the classroom as stealthily as they could. Once in the hallway, they could see Jane smoking near the other door of the classroom, but she seemed more preoccupied with whatever was on her phone than anything else at that moment, so she didn’t notice them.
After making sure Jane wasn’t looking at them, Taurtis looked back towards Sam to see him take off the cap of the marker. He used the hand not grabbing the marker to softly grab onto Taurtis’ arm.
“Here, let me draw something on you.” He said, his grin widening.
Taurtis, of course, let him, because if he couldn’t trust his best friend, who could he trust? Plus, what was the worst thing he could draw? Taurtis was expecting Sam to draw a dick, like the graffiti on the back of the school made by older kids, but instead, Sam brought Taurtis’ hand up to his eyeline and brought the marker to one of his fingers.
Taurtis tilted his head as Sam drew a line that went around the base of his ring finger. Once the line connected back into itself, Sam released Taurtis’ hand, who brought it closer to his face to inspect the circumference. As he was trying to figure out what it meant, he realised Sam was doing the same to his own ring finger. Once he was done, he met Taurtis’ gaze, grinning ear to ear.
“Now we’re married!” He said. Those words made a smile appear on Taurtis’ face.
He looked over to Jane, who was still distracted with her phone, and then to the door of the classroom, open just barely, not enough for anyone to see them. After making sure no one could witness the act, he leaned closer to Sam and kissed his cheek. The bunny giggled, leaning in to leave a soft kiss on Taurtis’ forehead. The two interlocked their hands, looking into each other’s eyes in a comfortable silence. Until they heard the door of the classroom creak open. They frantically moved away from each other, only to relax once they saw it was Grian.
“What are you two doing?” He asked.
Taurtis, instead of answering his question, ran forward and shoved his hand in front of Grian’s face.
“Look! We’re married!” He said, beaming.
Grian gasped.
“Can I be the best man?”
“Of course you’re the best man, dummy. Who else would it be?” Taurtis playfully rolled his eyes.
“Oh yeah, forgot you guys don’t have any other friends.” Despite Grian’s jab, Taurtis just ran into the classroom happily.
He dethroned Dom from the teacher’s desk to announce to everyone that he and Sam were now married, and they shall now be referred to as Mr and Mr Gladiator. And Sam? He couldn’t be happier.
