Chapter 1: Prologue: Story of A Time of Defenders and the Fall
Chapter Text
Agartha
Antarctic Circle
2108
Godzilla Jr walked through the enormous halls of the Agartha sanctuary, carrying a small infant Kaiju in his hand that resembled a baby Turtle. He held him close in both hands, one of which was a silver mechanical one provided by the advanced technology of the sanctuary built long ago.Jr soon placed his hand onto a door and opened it, stepping into a new room where a group of juvenile Kaiju awaited him. They couldn’t have been past 1-2 years old at the current moment.
The first he saw was Xira, a young Gojira and his own adoptive daughter who he found after an old plot by a group of humans planning to make Gojira clones failed. She had been made with DNA from Godzilla himself, essentially making them somewhat related. But despite that, Jr served as a father figure to her.
The next two were slightly older than Xira, resembling Komodo Dragons and Polar Bears due to their white coloration and overall build. They had very short crystals on their backs and the back of their heads. They were known as Sayuki and Boreas, the Daughter and Son of two Shimolochs known as Shimo and Hyoga.
On a nearby nest of rock and leaves, a baby Ankylosaur Kaiju was being rubbed on the head by a young Kaiju that appeared humanoid with avian influences. The baby was known as Rokmutul, the son of Anguirus, while the humanoid kaiju was Phosphera, a young apprentice to Mothra. Next to her was a small serpentine aquatic kaiju that resembled a baby Tiamat, known as Lahamu.
Nearby on a tree, two small apes swung onto the ground, one having green fur while the other had yellow. The two were known as Gaira and Sanda, twin sons of Suko, who at one point, was Jr’s best friend. Near the two was a small child who seemed to be a mix of a Gojira and a Zilla, known as Hyllus, the son of Jr's older adoptive brother known as Minilla or Hercules. Nearby was Inferno, an adoptive child of Godzilla's after becoming close with a member of a species that a kaiju known as Raijin was part of. Raijin was a Kaiju that resembled the gojiras, albeit much less reptilian and utilized a Hammer made by Atlanteans to increase his power.
It was during a conflict between Titanosaurus and Atlantis that Godzilla obtained the hammer for himself after Raijin left the Atlanteans. With the help from two of the oldest Titans known as Destoroyah and Obsidius, Atlantis fell and Earth was saved from invasion from the ocean.
All of them were ready to head to sleep, with Sayuki soon speaking up to Jr. "Can we hear the story again?" She asked, with the others soon growing excited. "Please?" Boreas asked as he sat next to Gaira and Sanda.
"Yes! tell us the story again!" Xira asked her adoptive father, her orange atomic glow pulsing slightly as she looked to her fellow friends.
Jr chuckled softly as he placed Toto down near Phosphera, quickly scratching his chin. He had grown a group of spikes under it as if he had grown a sort of beard, showing his age even now. "Alright, but after this its off to bed." He responded, looking down to the children of his father's allies. Rokmutul looked to everyone as Jr began to tell them a tale of the planet's mightiest Kaiju that protected their world... their parents.
"Then there came a day unlike any other, when Earth’s mightiest Titans United against a common threat. The King, The Divine, The Ape, The Guardian, The Smasher, the Serpent, the Prince, the Winter Goddess, and the Magenta Queen. On that day, the Earth’s Defenders were born, to fight enemies not a lone monster could defeat. Dragons from Space, Cyborgs with Sickles, and masters of the elements, the Defenders vanquished them all." Jr said as the children began to listen to his story.
The days of a year ago were much simpler, with there only being simple Kaiju Threats. The return of King Ghidorah was quickly put down by the defenders in 2021, 64 years before he was born. Yet, Jr had also helped against other threats such as an invasion from underground by Skar King in 2095 when he was still a child. It was there that he met Suko, a young ape he would end up becoming very good friends with. That was... before the dark times came...
"And finally, when the world was at peace, the heroes built lives of their own. The King and Magenta Queen fell in love, whilst the Winter Goddess and Smasher found their own, The Divine found an apprentice, and the Guardian returned to his family. One by one, the Children of Earth’s defenders came to be. Children who would become the next generation of heroes." Jr continued, his tone soon changing to one of sadness as he began to speak once again. "There came a day when the King sacrificed himself to defeat his own brother, vanishing in a burst of Orange light and entrusting his four children to protect the world."
Jr had four siblings, including a sister. Hercules was the oldest, having been born 300,000 years prior and getting a mate known as Jirara, a Zilla who was the leader of her all female pack. The next was Rex, a Gojira born without the ability to use atomic abilities, but could use brute strength to overpower his opponents. He was extremely muscular, more so than Hercules and Godzilla. Next was his little sister, Gira. Gira was born in 2100, the last child of Godzilla and Gojirin before she was killed in an attack by a mechanical monster with three heads.
"But in time, evil returned. An evil called… Kiryu." Jr continued,
Apex Cybernetics Facility
New York City
New York
2107
The city of New York was set ablaze as a red light shined from a facility belonging to Apex, a Proton Scream cutting through buildings and bridges alike as a mechanical claw tore through the facility hanger and a massive roar echoed through the city.
Emerging from the smoldering facility was a newly built MechaGodzilla that had gone rogue for unknown reasons. His once yellow eyes now burned with a hateful red, along with his body language appearing extremely aggressive as he spotted what seemed to be four Gojiras emerging from the sea, along with an Ankylosaurus-like kaiju, a younger member of Raijin's species known as Inferno, and a serpent. Remember... them. The mechanical creature thought to itself, still getting a feel for the new body. I feel the presence of-
Finally, his eyes locked onto Godzilla Jr, the new King of the Monsters, a wave of memories beginning to wash over his mind as rage began to boil once again.
The day of conflict, using an Ancient Warbeast from long ago to conquer the world after being exiled from his own colony for trying to avoid war with Atlantis. The beast Bagan, under his control, slaughtered many who was in his way while under his control through a Bullhook, using trauma to control him. Yet he fought the Prince of the Monsters, losing in a battle in the volcanic section of the Hollow Earth and losing his limbs before being left to burn on the lava river bank...
A roar echoed from his jaws once again, with the Earth Defenders responding with their own roars before beginning to rush to combat the Metal Monster.
The Gojiras rushed to try and tackle Kiryu, only for a strange red shield of sorts to form around him and push them all back. Tiamat and Anguirus ran forward, with the sea serpent beginning to coil around him as Kiryu struggled to break free of her grasp. Anguirus rolled forward to smash into the mecha's torso, only for a sudden blast from the Mecha's tail to strike him and knock him back.
Kiryu charged up his proton scream once again, a red glow burning in his throat before the beam shot through the coils Tiamat was trying to restrict him with. A short yell of agony followed the beam, cut off short as Kiryu gripped Tiamat's head and threw in onto the ground. He then raised his mechanical foot and allowed it to drop on it, reducing the skull to a pile of blood and brain tissue.
Soon, the other Kaiju rose up, roaring their challenge once again to defend their planet from threats like these. Whoever Kiryu was, they would ensure the metal menace wouldn't live to see tomorrow.
With a roar of rage, Jr led his siblings and Anguirus in a charge, while a sort of roar was given out to call for assistance from Kong, Mothra, and Gamera, who were currently not that far from their location.
It was Godzilla's dying wish to keep on fighting for their world, all of them would uphold it. Or die trying...
"In a metallic body, he sought total dominion over the world. But Earth’s Defenders stood in his way. Sadly, their defeat was inevitable."
12 hours later
New York City
New York
2107
The once great city of New York was now nothing but a wreckage of fire and metal, some Titan carcasses littering the floor. Anguirus had been the second to fall, a fist punching through his chest and destroying his heart.
Mothra had arrived 2 hours ago, having done all she could before being incinerated by Kiryu's proton scream. Kong had arrived with his axe soon after, engaging in a long duel with the metal monster as he managed to make several large gashes in the armor.
Kong swung with incredible force as he continued striking the metal gojira, with Kiryu managing to avoid multiple strikes and stab Kong in his torso with his arm mounted blades to try and take him down. The great ape slammed the end of his axe handle into Kiryu's torso, managing to dent and break through some of the metal to damage any sort of internal components. The Mecha screamed in a sort of agonizing way, a strange dark red fluid dripping from the torso damage.
Kong barely had any time to react as he was suddenly stabbed through the chest by Kiryu's blade, who began charging up his railgun to finish him off once and for all. The Metallic King laughed mechanically, ready to end him for good. But as he fired, Kong slashed his axe at the mecha's face
The railgun blew a massive hole in Kong's chest, the ape sliding off of the blade as the life left him. But as for Kiryu, he stumbled back as he felt part of his 'head' fall off, raising a claw to cover the exposed area.
Godzilla Jr rushed to Kong, quickly grabbing his axe as he looked to the mecha. The machine pulled its hand away, revealing a sight that made the Gojira's blood run cold...
Kiryu's head wasn't his head... it was a helmet. Among the sparks and frayed metal, there was an eye and part of a face. A face Jr was all too familiar with, one of an old friend from long ago, one who threw away everything in the pursuit of conquest. A single Green eye peered through the broken side of the mask as Jr simply asked one thing, completely horrified at the truth. "Suko?..." The last time Jr had seen him, he was left limbless and burning on a lava river bank, screaming in agony as flames consumed him. He thought he had died that day... but it seemed not.
Through the mask, raspy breaths and strained coughing came as a voice spoke up. "Suko is gone..." The cyborg spoke, his voice sounding partly robotic from having his vocal cords repaired with robotic enhancements. "I am what remains..." He continued wheezing.
Jr, completely horrified at what his old friend had become, felt a few tears fall from his face. "I'm sorry..." He said, his breathing shaking. "I'm sorry Suko... for all of it..." Jr added. He had failed his friend, the one he saw as a brother when they were kids. When Suko fell to becoming a warlord like his father, Jr had placed his duty of being a protector of balance before being a brother to Suko. Now it seemed everyone would have to pay for his mistakes.
Suko, wheezing through his broken helmet, spoke as his face was partially visible. "I am not your failure, Jr..." The mecha's eyes turned yellow, illuminating part of his face. "You didn't kill Suko..." It seemed as if Suko was apologizing for what he did... that it was his own fault for doing what he did, until he spoke up once again.
"I did..."
The Mecha's eyes returned to its red color, leaving his face engulfed in red light. "The same way... I will destroy you..." Kiryu said, before drawing his blades and beginning to approach.
Then my friend is truly dead. Jr thought to himself, before suddenly seeing three Gojiras rush to attack Kiryu in a sort of ambush. Hercules, Rex, and Gira began attacking as Gamera soon arrived on the scene.
"GO!" Hercules shouted to his little brother. "GRAB OUR CHILDREN AND HEAD SOMEWHERE SAFE!"
Jr's eyes widened, hearing his brother speak of what he had to do. "Herc- Minilla... I CAN'T LEAVE YOU FOUR TO DIE." He protested, beginning to approach with Kong's axe to help battle, only for Rex to quickly turn around and punch his adoptive brother, knocking him back a great distance.
"As long as they live, there is hope that this machine will fall one day... We'll buy you time..." Rex said before returning to battle.
Jr, defeated, began to rush to Infant Island in the Atlantic, where the children were during the whole conflict. There was a safe place in the Antarctic Circle, a massive dome almost as big as the continent called Agartha, a sanctuary for Kaiju if they ever required it.
With one final look to the battle and seeing Rex fall from a proton blast to the head, Jr ran to collect the Children and head to Agartha.
"But before they fell, they sent their children to a far away place where they would grow up safe from Kiryu’s grasp. Because as long as the Defenders knew that their Children were alive, there was hope. Hope for the future."
Jr looked to the children, who remained peacefully asleep as he left their den, heading off for his own den for the night.
He'd have to train them to become the next defenders, the kaiju Earth needed to protect it... no matter what. He could only hope that other Kaiju were defending against Kiryu and whatever allies he may have against them.

13 Years after the fall…
Agartha
Antarctic Circle
2120
In the grasslands of Agartha, the sun hung overhead as three kaiju lumbered to where another was. Toto, Hyllus, and Rokmutul all had done their duty of taking care of Inferno for the few days they had him, the child still remaining an infant. It was likely due to being part of Raijin's species, know for slower aging and thus longer lifespans. He was being carried by Toto, who was careful not to accidentally drop the small kaiju.
Finally, in front of them, Phosphera remained at work on attempting to learn a spell Mothra had told her of before she went to New York and met her demise... for now anyway. Small purple and cyan lights circled the ground in front of her, spinning in a circular motion as she continued to focus. Just a little more-
"Phos!" Toto shouted to her. Phosphera lost her concentration as the spell only produced a black smoke in front of her, covering her face before she shook it to remove the covering of smoke. She turned, a little agitated at her spell being interrupted by her friends... maybe friends was a bit of a stretch.
She still removed the dust from her yellow skin, a slight annoyance in her voice was audible as she began to speak. "Next time, wait until I'm done with my training... These mystic spells Mothra knew are important for me to learn."
Hyllus simply chuckled to himself as he heard 'spells'. "You really still believe in magic?" He asked. "Its like that Zo-Zla-Halawa story that Sanda and Gaira are afraid of: a myth."
The story of Zo-Zla-Halawa started in the Kaiju War 300,000 years ago, said to be a Gojira that consumed a star and became wicked. He could shoot rays of the star he ate, blasting apart anything in his path. The creature flew with crystal wings sprouted from his back, ensuring that not even the skies would be safe from his wrath. But it was like what his father told him when he was a child before he... passed... the stories were nothing more than a myth.
Phosphera sighed, looking to the son of Hercules. "You seem to forget that same magic kept Godzilla from dying when he killed Ghidorah in his burning state." She said. When Godzilla entered the burning state, he could have melted down and died in a thermonuclear explosion from the overload. It was only through Mothra's ashes and scales that he was able to vent the excess energy safely, allowing him to survive. It was with his Red Spiral Heat Ray that he stripped the flesh from Ghidorah's body and reduced him to bone, having happened nearly 100 years ago in 2021.
Toto handed Phosphera Inferno, the child squeaking happily as he felt the student of Mothra hold him. Out of everyone, he prefered her the most. Xira and Hyllus were a little scary looking to him, despite being cousins, Rokmutul and Toto were too busy training, Lahamu spent most of her time in the water, and Sayuki and Boreas were too cold for him.
Rokmutul turned from the group, rolling up into his ball form and rolling away to begin his training for the day. Toto followed soon after, his legs entering his shell and arms flattening as he flew off to join his friend.
Hyllus was left there with Phosphera and Inferno. "So... I still don't believe in the whole magic thing..."
"Hyllus, get out of my den."
Towards the colder winter section of the Sanctuary, Sayuki and Boreas fired beams from their mouth, building a sort of ice cave for themselves to sleep in, also serving as a way to better control their abilities of ice.
As they finished, they stopped firing their beams and soon walked into the den and began to lay down. Boreas was younger than his sister, and it showed as he appeared noticeably shorter than her. Soon, he began to speak up. "Sister, do you think one day we'll become masters of Fimbulwinter like Mother and Father?"
Sayuki turned to her brother as she sat down on the stone floor. Their parents, Shimo and Hyoga, were regarded as the masters of Fimbulwinter, a storm said to bring about an eternal winter across the Earth itself. They also possibly caused the Ice Age. The Shimoloch pressed her forward arm out and pulled her little brother closer, a smile across her face.
"I'm sure they're looking down upon us proudly." She responded. "We are the descendants of two Titans that control Winter Storms itself, we can master that ability some day... I have faith that we will." Boreas rumbled, curling up as he began to try and take a nap. Sayuki soon followed, trying to drift off to sleep...
Only for a pink fluid to spray onto the wall of their cave outside, causing the sound of boiling water and steam rising into the air.
Boreas and Sayuki both groaned in annoyance, looking as the hole got bigger to reveal the one who burned a hole into their new cave. In their 13 years of living in Agartha, they had to also learn to get along with others, which was easier said than done, mostly due to the fact that they also had the daughter of Tiamat in their domain: Lahamu.
She resembled her mother greatly, almost as if she were a clone. "Hey you two." Lahamu said.
"Don't you have anyone else to go and mess with, serpent?" Boreas questioned. Why did she always have to come for them, they did nothing to her, so perhaps she got some sort of enjoyment out of it.
"Xira's dad wants us to gather at her place near the end of the Sanctuary while he goes to check out something." Lahamu answered, having met Jr earlier in the day. He sent her to go collect Sayuki and Boreas.
Sayuki stepped forward out of her cave, motioning for Boreas to follow. "Alright then, we'll go head to Xira's den... I assume the twins will join us?" She questioned. The twin sons of Suko were quite a pair, both of which appearing different colors opposite of each other. They could be annoying at times, but they were good at heart.
Lahamu sighed. "Unfortunately, yeah, Sanda and Gaira are already there." She obviously sounded like the two were a problem for her.
"Well, we better get going." Sayuki stated as she, Boreas, and Lahamu left for Xira's den.
Inside Xira's den, everyone was staying together in their own groups as they waited for whatever Godzilla Jr was doing to finish.
Xira herself resembled Jr as if she were a perfect copy, only she was female and glowed a bright orange color instead of the traditional atomic blue the Gojira species was known for. She was someone who saw all of the people she lived with since she was a child as family, being some of the only people that she has aside from Jr.
"So, what do you think your father's doing, Xira?" Sanda asked, before his brother Gaira soon added onto his question. "Yeah, you know anything about it?"
Xira simply shrugged. "Dunno, he seemed a little panicked when he saw the Sanctuary's proximity alarm go off." The proximity Radar only went off in case any unknown threats approached Agartha.
Rokmutul spoke up soon after. "Perhaps it is one of those weird Kaiju he told stories of… what if it’s Destoroyah?" The stories of Destoroyah told by Jr were of his time in Atlantis to help defeat Titanosaurus’ invasion forces with help from the oldest Titan of all and Destoroyah’s rival: Obsidius.
"Come on, Rokmutul… We all know Destoroyah is probably dealing with more important things than giving a little visit." Toto spoke up as he held the young Inferno in his hands, watching small arcs of lightning jump across his body. The child soon began letting out small roars as a sudden groan of Metal came from outside the den.
Quickly, everyone began rushing out to see what was coming incase it was a threat. Boreas and Sayuki prepared their frostbite blasts, Gaira and Sanda both held their own axes with one of them belonging to the deceased Kong himself, Phosphera prepared a beam attack in her mouth, Rokmutul slammed his tail club into the ground, Toto prepared a fireball as his throat glowed blue and orange, Hyllus prepared his atomic breath with an emerald glow from his Dorsals, and Lahamu prepared to fire a collection of acidic ink at the new arrival.
Leading them was Xira, her Dorsals glowing a bright orange as she prepared to fire her Atomic Breath. At the source of the Metal: the entrance of the Sanctuary as the shadow of a Gojira became visible. Everyone soon relaxed as their attacks lost their intensity but still remained ready, looking to the new arrival.
From the gust of cold wind blowing in what little snow was left in the Arctic from years of global warming, it was soon revealed that it was not Godzilla Jr…
This Gojira seemed older, with large amounts of scars and some new wounds across his body. His Dorsals were broken and shattered, with a cloud of blue smoke coming from his back as he stepped in. In his hands, a hammer resembling those from mythology was present with small arcs of lightning. His eyes soon locked onto Hyllus, who seemed to recognize him.
"Son…?" He asked, before he fell onto the ground and dropping the hammer.
Unsure of what to do, everyone was silent, only until footsteps echoed through the area as they turned to see Godzilla Jr. He seemed utterly shocked and horrified at the sight, his eyes widening.
"HERCULES!" He shouted as he rushed over to his adoptive older brother, the entrance to Agartha closing up as he helped him up. Through wheezing coughs, Hercules spoke to his little brother.
"…Little brother?" He asked, before the older Gojira finally got his mind right. "Sorry, I just… been through a hell of a fight."
"You look like it too…" Jr responded, pausing briefly before snapping out of his own shock. "Sorry… I’m just… I can’t you’re alive." He helped him walk away from the area as the others watched, seeing Jr hold the hammer that Hercules held with him.
"Dad?" Xira questioned her adoptive father, only for Jr to respond quickly to her.
"Stay here…" He said as he continued to walk away before saying a few last things. "Look, I know you all have a lot amount of questions and I promise I’ll answer them. But right now I need to help my brother…" Jr and Hercules began to make their way to a rather mechanical location in the Agartha Sanctuary.
Now, the children were left with questions, but they couldn’t just wait… they needed answers, and they needed them now. Especially Hyllus, left in shock as he found that his father, thought dead for almost 13 years, was still alive…
Chapter 3: Revelations
Summary:
The children come across the depths, accidentally unleashing something that will draw a great evil to their once safe place.

Agartha
Antarctica
A nearby stone monument was in the middle of the extremely dense forest, a massive clearing allowing the artificial sun to hang directly above the area. Jr helped support his brother as they walked towards the monument, Kanji of the names of those who died during the fall of Earth’s Defenders placed across. Mothra, Kong, Rex, Gira, Gamera…
The Gojira placed a hand on the symbol of a Dorsal plate, a blue glow coming from it as the monument’s floor opened up. A metallic groaning came as blast doors opened below and industrial lights turned on. The depth was at least 20 kilometers to the main floor, leaving the two to walk down and head to the medical facility below.
The hidden entrance soon closed behind them, leaving it completely hidden as to where they went to the average kaiju or human... but from the forest, keeping their distance, the children looked on as they remained silent. Soon, Xira spoke up to break the silence. "We're going to follow them, right?"
Many of them nodded, with Toto stepping in front of them. "No no." He said. "Godzilla told us to wait for him. We should respect his wishes and let him explain when he's ready." The turtle Kaiju built up fire in his throat, trying to make them back away so that they could respect Jr's wishes. However, Sayuki stepped forward and placed a hand where a shoulder would be, before slowly pushing Toto the side with her incredible strength.
The others continued to the monument, with Toto sighing. We're gonna get in so much trouble. He thought to himself.
Xira placed her hand where the dorsal plate marking was as she began to redirect her Atomic energy into her hand and into the symbol. One of the abilities she had was energy redirection much like her adoptive father, allowing her to put the power of her Atomic Breath into powerful punches. But for now, she placed the energy into the symbol and allowed it to activate the hidden door beneath them.
The circular area began to open, revealing the massive steps downwards as the blast doors opened, showing the way inside.
"Well, how long has this been hidden in plain sight?" Sanda asked, only for the others to continue downward into the depths. Lahamu lightly hit him in the face with her tail as she did so, who continued with them.
The depths were metallic and dark, a single pathway leading into the massive facilities below. Gaira walked ahead of everyone, despite being unable to see what was ahead of him. It would likely be a matter of time before he likely walked right into something, probably knock himself out from it.
"I think I've been here before..." Xira said as they continued, the sight was almost familiar to her from nearly 13 years ago. The others turned around, a little confused as to what she likely meant. "I remember walking down this hall... I was scared of... something." Gaira chuckled a bit at that.
"Really? You, the daughter of Godzilla Jr, the son of Godzilla himself, scared of something? Pft, that's gotta be a load of Bullsh-" Gaira bumped into something, cutting him off on his sentence as he and the others looked to what he hit just as industrial sized lights began to flicker on.
He had bumped into what appeared to be a MechaGodzilla unit.
From stories her father told her, there was a MechaGodzilla unit that was built using the bones of a Gojira known as Hephaestus, one of Godzilla's nine older siblings. He had absolutely despised the humans, wishing to keep all nature safe unlike his little brother Hades, who was the living embodiment of extinction. Jr had met MechaGodzilla when he was still a child, with the mecha being sent in disguise as a gojira known as Tyr.
Even after realizing he was a machine, Jr always thought of MechaGodzilla as Tyr, his friend and uncle. The mecha had sacrificed itself in the battle against Hades long ago, allowing Godzilla enough time to enter his burning form. From what little she could remember, she remembed her father being distraught at the loss of his Uncle and Father.
Gaira jumped back at the sight of MechaGodzilla, the depowered mecha standing lifeless and still. Soon, other lights began activating to reveal more and more mechas. A mechanical moth, around the size of Phosphera herself was nearby, deactivated. Another was an Ankylosarus mecha, one that resembled Rokmutul's father. Next to him was a Mechanical Ape, one built in the image of the Great Apes of the Hollow Earth. On another side was a giant mechanical turtle that resembled the Guardian of the Universe.
Finally, behind them all was a massive mecha that stood at 170 meters tall on its back legs. It resembled the Shimoloch known as Shimo, but like all the others, they were deactivated.
Everyone had looked on in shock, with Toto being the one to break the silence soon after. "What is this?..."
"These are your parents... I think..." Xira responded as she walked to the 400 foot tall MechaGodzilla , looking it in the eyes as she did so. It felt strange... it resembled her grandfather, yet she knew it was a machine, leaving her with many thoughts in her mind.
Gaira soon spoke up after. "Yeah, She's right, it's just like the story her dad used to tell us!" He pointed over towards Mecha-Anguirus, with Rokmutul looking to it as he did so. "That's Rokmutul's dad, the Smasher. That massive robot behind them all is Sayuki and Boreas' mom... or maybe their dad." Sanda soon also pointed over to Mecha-Gamera, where Toto walked close up to it.
"That's Toto's turtle dad, and that Metal Godzilla is Xira and Hyllus' grandfather!" Sanda added, before turning to the Mechani-Kong and Mecha-Mothra nearby. "That's me and Gaira's grandfather, and that moth was Phosphera's mentor!"
Hyllus looked to the machines, astonished at their builds and yet, he had become plagued with questions. "Why would Uncle keep this from us?" He asked out loud, looking at the machines. 13 years of living here away from whatever threats the world had and they didn't know about these machines that looked just like the others parents.
"We shouldn't be in here." Toto stated. "If he wanted us to know about these, he'd tell us. We should keep going if we want to spy on him- FIND him, I mean." He corrected himself, only wanting to find where Godzilla Jr went.
"Yeah, let's move." Hyllus spoke as he and the many others walked off to follow Toto to where Jr may be, all except Lahamu and Xira...
Lahamu noticed Xira was unmoving, unaware of the others leaving. "Xira, come on!" She spoke over to the unresponding Gojira. "Xira..."
Quietly as they could be, the group moved their way into the depths of the hidden base, walking through the massive overhead paths that overlooked the facility below. Some industrial sized pipes shot out harmless smoke, revealing the blue lights from below them in the medical area.
"Just take it easy, brother." Jr's voice echoed through the room. "The human machines need to see how extensive your injuries are..." The humans had built the facility long ago to help with studying Kaiju that had been killed or badly injured, possibly to help get them back to their full strength.
Gaira, Sayuki, Sanda, Boreas, Hyllus, Phosphera, Toto, and Inferno all watched on from their vantage point. "Yikes... he looks like something beat the life outta him." Gaira spoke quietly.
Jr took ahold of one of the robotic arms on the medical platform and guided it to his brother, where injectors containing a blue fluid went into him. "How bad is it out there..." He questioned his brother. All that he had heard so far was that some countries had fallen to Kiryu and his forces of MechaGodzilla sentries.
"North and South America both fell 8 years ago, others have been fighting back against the Machine Army. Western Europe fell not too long ago, only thing stopping them from moving forward is Destoroyah and Obsidius." Hercules responded. Destoroyah and Obsidius, both of which were rivals and two of the oldest kaiju on Earth, were finally working together in a time other than the Battle of Atlantis. "From what I saw before retreating, forces are gathering across the Pacific Rim... the Invasion of Asia could soon begin..."
Jr sighed as he continued to tend to his brother's wounds, relocating his arm back into its socket with a cracking sound echoing. "In 13 years, he's conquered the planet..."
"Also... Gira, Rex, and Bagan are alive..." Hercules mentioned.
Jr stopped, in shock at what he heard. His brother and Sister were alive, along with the ancient war beast from long ago. "WHAT!?"
"Wait, who’s Bagan?" Toto asked Gaira, unaware of that name. Gira and Rex were mentioned by Jr in stories of a time before their fall, but they were instead living well?
"Maybe he was the king." Gaira responded, only to be met with a smack on the head by Hyllus.
"The king was my Grandfather, Idiot." He spoke, before returning to watching with the others.
Xira continued watching the mechanized version of her Grandfather, taking in the detail and appearance of it. Her thoughts continued to plague her, the curiosity growing every second. She hadn’t even noticed Lahamu coming closer from behind. "Xira, We should go."
"What if it has my Grandfather’s voice… or if it’s programmed to act like him, or has his memories?" Xira questioned. The vast amount of the humans and their technological expertise could revive Hephaestus into MechaGodzilla, so the same could have been done for this version with her grandfather. "Do you think he can hear me?"
Lahamu looked down, unsure of how to respond.
Xira stepped closer to the machine, wondering if it was possible that the robot could hear her. "Uh… Grandfather? Can you hear me?" She questioned. No response. "Are you awake?"
"Xira, it’s not your grandfather… it’s a robot." Lahamu said, yet her words couldn’t get through to the Gojira.
Xira stepped forward again, wanting to at least try to see if it had her Grandfather’s memories. "Sir?… Godzilla? Are you… online?"
Suddenly, the Mecha’s blue eyes activated, along with the lighting across his body. Xira jumped back in shock, with Lahamu doing the same as MechaGodzilla powered on.
"MECHA, DESIGNATION: MECHAGODZILLA. NOW ONLINE." The machine spoke in a robotic voice, ignoring the two young Kaiju in front of him who were looking around to see what could have triggered the activation. "ACCESSING MISSION DATABASE… MISSION ACQUIRED." MechaGodzilla began to walk forward, with Xira and Lahamu moving out of the way as to not be knocked down by the Mecha.
"DESTRUCTION OF MACHINE THREAT, DESIGNATION: KIRYU. COMMENCING…"
Lahamu turned to Xira, shaken as she heard the words. "Kiryu!?" The mechanical threat was the one that killed many of their parents, including her mother Tiamat.
MechaGodzilla stopped walking and turned around, unleashing a roar similar to that of an alpha call used by Godzilla during times of Crisis and War. One by one… the mechas began to activate.
Mecha-Anguirus was the first to follow MechaGodzilla, soon followed by Mecha-Mothra and Mechani-Kong. Finally, Mecha-Gamera followed. "Woah, WAIT!" Xira shouted to the machines, only to be cut off by the shaking ground as Mecha-Shimo continued on her way to follow the Mecha Defenders. "NO, STOP!"
Xira rushed after them as fast as she could, rushing to MechaGodzilla as to try and stop him from leading the others. "Uh… Stand down! Stop! Grandfather!" She shouted as she pulled on the Mecha’s arm, only to be pushed back onto the ground while the mechas entered into a different room. Lahamu rushed to help up Xira, with the both of them rushing to the new room.
The room suddenly opened up its ceiling, revealing a dull grey sky as snow fell from above. Xira and Lahamu could only watch as the mechas began to prepare for takeoff…
Gaira hung on the nearby ledges, his grip less tight that it was before as he looked to the main event going on below. Jr had fixed up Hyllus’ dad the best he could-
Gaira slipped and began to fell, a yell escaping him before being caught by Toto before he could even hit the floor.
"Don’t worry, I got you."
Jr stopped as he heard the two speak, looking up to the upper floor and seeing almost all of the children looking down at them. "Kids? What are all of you doing down here?"
They were about to speak to try and explain once again, only for the room to begin shaking and some machine fell over from the violent shaking. Jr looked around, trying to figure it out until a robotic voice called out from the automatic announcement system built by the humans. "MECHA LAUNCH SEQUENCE INITIATED."
Jr’s face changed to one of fear as he spoke to himself. "Oh no…"
Control Room
Machine Fortress
New York
Among the millions of screens showcasing the many places of tech that had been corrupted and integrated into a sort of hive mind, a notification came though as a massive figure looked to it. "Energy Source detection. Location: Antarctic Circle."
He took his metallic claw and pressed the screen, beginning to analyze the source for what it could be. While it did so, he grabbed his helmet, a mechanical Gojira head as he placed it over himself, sealing shut as it began to boot up.
"Energy Analysis matches fugitive designation: …" he searched for the file, until finally finding it before bringing it up on the main screen.
"Godzilla Jr."
His mask’s yellow eyes changed to a bloody red as a sickening grin came across his mechanical face. At long last…
Kiryu had found him.

Chapter 4: Escape
Summary:
With Kiryu now knowing the location of Agartha, Jr must ensure the children and Hercules escape, even at the cost of his life.

Medical Facility
Agartha
Antarctica
Jr rushed over to one of the massive screens near the medical area, quickly tapping it to send reserve power to the long range radar. They didn't have long until Kiryu eventually made his way to Agartha, all they could do was track him and hope there was some time bought by the Mecha Defenders.
Toto jumped down and landed from the upper level, followed by Sanda, Hyllus, and Gaira while Rokmutul, Sayuki, and Boreas walked down the ramp. "Jr, this was not my Idea. It was-" Before he could continue, Toto was cut off by Jr.
"Kids, help Hercules up."
Toto and Gaira turned to the gojira behind them, who spoke a small bit. "Hey Gaira... hey Toto..." Hercules had met the two once before when they were just infants, having been a little surprised at how much they've grown.
"Boys, now!" Jr shouted as he tried to get the radar readings on the holoscreen.
Sanda and Gaira ran over to the somewhat healed Hercules, beginning to help haul him off the platform and onto his feet. However, he fell onto a knee and coughed, the pain from the broken bones and wounds still present. In total, he had at least 50 broken bones, including a fractured arm that was being held together by a mechanical brace. "You got some strength, you two..." Hercules spoke, weakly getting back onto his feet whilst Toto and Hyllus came to support him.
"Hey father..." Hyllus spoke, with his father looking down to him and exchanging a wordless smile as if he were saying that he was happy to see him again.
The same robotic voice from before spoke. "MULTIPLE RADAR CONTACTS. DESIGNATION: MECHA DEFENDERS."
Jr looked to the screen, focused on the six red dots on the radar. On the side, profiles were showing the real counterparts of Godzilla, Kong, Mothra, Anguirus, Gamera, and Shimo somewhere over the freezing southern Atlantic Ocean.
Rokmutul walked up nearby with Inferno safely upon his head before Phosphera came and took the infant. "What's going on?"
Jr remained unresponsive to Rokmutul, looking to the radar.
"NEW CONTACT. SUBORBITAL TRAJECTORY" The robotic voice spoke once more, the new arrival signified by the new red dot approaching the other six. The Radar soon obtained the new signature among the Mecha Defenders.
- MECHAGODZILLA - ONLINE
- MECHA-MOTHRA - ONLINE
- MECHA-ANGUIRUS - ONLINE
- MECHA-SHIMO - ONLINE
- MECHA-GAMERA - ONLINE
- MECHANI-KONG - ONLINE
- ???
Soon, Jr saw a blurred profile image of the new arrival beginning to be unblurred. He didn't need it to know who was already coming...
"DESIGNATION..."
"FATHER!" Xira's voice shouted from the entrance, with Jr snapping out of his sort of trance to look to his adoptive daughter. "I-I'm sorry. There were these robots and they looked just like the others' parents. And then-" She stopped as Jr remained looking at her, unresponsive, before turning back to the Radar screen.
Lahamu came up behind and spoke to Xira. "I... think he knows..."
The radar continued beeping as Jr watched the Mecha Defenders reach where the new arrival was...
Southern Ocean
500 Miles off the coast of Antarctica
Above the freezing ocean in the dead of night, the Mecha Defenders flew through the sky as they headed for their target. They had only been programmed for one thing: the elimination of the robotic threat known as Kiryu. Leading the charge was MechaGodzilla, his blue eyes flashing as he began to detect something off in the distance.
A red flash flew into the sky, pinging on the Mecha Defenders radar as five of them stopped to allow Mecha-Shimo to begin to close the distance.
As the massive mechanical Shimoloch flew closer, another red flash of light came from near the half moon that hung in the sky at the time. Suddenly, Mecha-Shimo was smashed aside by that very same red flash, almost as if it were a comet moving at blinding speeds.
Finally, Jr spoke up after watching the radar for nearly 2 minutes without speaking. "We're leaving..."
Toto was confused. "What do you mean?" He asked. They had never left Agartha in their lives, but now they had to?
"Leaving? as in leaving here? But we've never left the Sanctuary!" Boreas stated. They didn't know what could be out there...
Jr sighed as he continued to try and think to himself for what they could do.
Mecha-Mothra was suddenly stabbed in the back by the enemy's claws, the sound of tearing metal coming from the smaller moth as her programing began to change and morph. Red circuitry patterns began to spread across her mechanical body, almost like that of an infection.
Suddenly, her once blue eyes flickered to a bloody red like that of her new master's eyes.
"Get to the fields!" Jr shouted, beginning to walk over to where Mjolnir was placed down and picked it up as slight sparks of lightning jumped across his arm. "We don't have much time. Hercules will explain."
Xira watched as her father walked over to another screen and began pressing the holo projection to deactivate unnecessary systems. "Hercules? What about you?"
"ALERT - MECHA-MOTHRA: OFFLINE."
Jr gritted his teeth at the message, knowing full well that Kiryu may have developed a new ability. "YOU HAVE TO GET TO THE FIELDS! NOW!" He shouted to the children, who began to rush out of the depths and to the surface where the doors began to seal closed behind them.
Xira, Rokmutul, Boreas, Sayuki, Phosphera, Toto, Lahamu, Sanda, Gaira, and Inferno all ran out of the monument area as they heard the same robotic voice from before announce another defender falling, all while they hauled Hercules to evacuate.
"ALERT - MECHANI-KONG: OFFLINE"
Sayuki stopped as she turned back. "We shouldn't have left him..." She spoke, as she began to walk back only to be stopped by Rokmutul jumping in front of her before she could get any further.
"He told us to!" Rokmutul shouted, before taking his claw and pointing towards where the fields were on the far side of the Sanctuary. "We need to get to the Fields. That's what he said." The rest began to rush to the fields, with the robotic voice once again announcing another fall.
"ALERT - MECHA-ANGUIRUS: OFFLINE."
Xira ran up next to Hercules, who was being hauled by Toto and Boreas. "Those robots, the Mecha Defenders, Why are they going offline?" She asked as they ran. Hercules, still in large amounts of pain from his fractured bones, turned to answer her. Just then, the robotic voice announced again.
"ALERT - MECHA-SHIMO: OFFLINE."
"The enemy has developed the ability to infect machinery, corrupting it and overwriting their programming with his own." He responded. It was during the 13 years out helping against Kiryu's army that he saw many machines fall under the enemy's control, using tech such as Anti-Kaiju turrets and some mechas.
"ALERT - MECHA-GAMERA: OFFLINE."
"I'm guessing there is a high chance that the Mecha Defenders are compromised..." Hercules responded, until a final message echoed once again.
"ALERT - MECHAGODZILLA: OFFLINE."
Hercules soon spoke up once again. "He was the last one... Kiryu will come for us now..."
Sanda and Gaira stopped and whipped around. "Wait... KIRYU?!" Sanda spoke. He had only thought the stories were just that: Stories...
"He's coming here?" Toto asked, just as the ground began to shake and a bright flash from the top of the dome became visible. A massive explosion rocked as the dome was broken open by a massive red beam. Debris began to rain down, including a 300 meter long piece falling towards the group.
Everyone quickly jumped to the side, the force of the debris collapse sending them flying into the ground as they looked to the destroyed dome. They got onto their feet as the sight of a red glow began to lower itself into Agartha, just as alarms began blaring from the alert systems to warn anyone about intruders.
The dome's artificial lights switched off, leaving the once safe place illuminated by fire.
Xira, Boreas, Rokmutul, Sayuki, Toto, Sanda, Gaira, Phosphera, Lahamu, Inferno, and Hercules could only watch as the glowing figure descended upon the area. It stood over the children, at the height of Hercules it made them look short compared to it. The Machine looked almost like a metal version of Godzilla Jr or Hercules, possibly even Godzilla from a long time ago...
Taking three steps forward, Kiryu's glowing red eyes locked onto the group. "Children. Another Fugitive. Unexpected..." The mecha coldly stated, scanning the group. "Assessment: Potential Threats."
The threats were present in the form of their abilities being far more powerful than their parents, along with the enhanced clone of Godzilla Jr leading them. Hercules, while injured, had a state he called Hollow Earth Purple, where he absorbed Hollow Earth crystal energy to power up and fire a large ball of purple energy. But those two apes... they seemed familiar... and the scans confirmed it.
"Commencing termination." Kiryu stated, his arm cannon activating and spinning up. Anyone caught in the way of his blasts would likely be torn apart, much like how Kong had been blown open by it. Was this it? they couldn't just fall here to this evil mechanical menace.
However, Kiryu was suddenly struck by the legendary Mjolnir who was held by someone adorned in orichalcum armor. The mecha was knocked aside, away from the children and Hercules to ensure their safety. The children looked on in amazement, a warrior in the legendary armor belonging to one of Godzilla's 9 siblings known as Poseidon. The warrior opened his jaws as a Red Spiral Heat Ray fired forward from his jaws, striking Kiryu and sending him back a further distance from the group.
However, unlike previous targets who were obliterated or severely injured from the blast, Kiryu seemed unaffected and only annoyed by it.
The beam stopped firing, leaving the children to look at their metal savior. "Is that..." Hyllus was about to say who he thought it was, only for his thoughts to be confirmed as the helmet retracted to reveal Jr.
"Get out of here and to the mainland, I'll hold it off." He said as looked to the children and Hercules, his determined look having a small look of sadness in it. This would be his last stand, a chance to ensure the next generation could continue on to one day beat Kiryu.
Xira stepped forward. "Dad... what about you?"
From the crater where Kiryu was, he bursted free with an enraged roar. "GODZILLA!" His enraged voice shouted, having called Jr by his father's name.
Jr reactivated his helmet, adjusting his grip on Mjolnir. "I'll be right behind you! GO!" He responded to his daughter, before rushing off to battle against Kiryu.
"This is wrong, we have to help him!" Phosphera spoke as Inferno remained upon her back, above to go and fly to Jr's aid. However, Hercules shouted to the group.
"Children, Do as Jr says." Hercules stated, looking to Xira after speaking to Phosphera. "You must protect us, Xira. Your safety is of great importance. My brother will join us afterwards." Everyone looked to each other, unsure of what to do. Jr had been their guardian for so long, and they had to just leave him? But they had no other choice. Quickly, the group began to run for the exit to the Sanctuary, with Boreas and Sayuki serving as a rear guard incase Kiryu came at them from behind.
Across the rocky mountain region of Agartha, Kiryu and Jr were locked in a fierce battle as lightning and energy clashed with each other. He swung Mjolnir with great force, the hammer locking with Kiryu's own blade who chuckled.
"Your strength has returned..." He spoke, taking his arm cannon and blasting Jr directly in his chest. The blast tore off multiple pieces of the orichalcum armor, sending it onto the ground and badly burning Jr who roared out in pain. "BUT THE WEAKNESS STILL REMAINS!"
Jr shedded the remaining armor of his uncle off of himself, holding the hammer in his mechanical arm as he raised the hammer into the air and began to summon a large amount of electricity. Lightning crackled along it and his body, before firing it towards the 'mecha' and knocking it back once again just as it fired missiles towards him.
Each explosion stung, yet he continued forward, switching his grip as he began slamming the pommel of the legendary hammer into Kiryu's chest as it began to badly damage vital systems. Sparks and flames shot from it as wheezing coughs came from Kiryu, who's eyes flashed a brighter red and took his arm blade and slammed it directly into Jr's chest. The Gojira stopped as pain flashed through him, dropping Mjolnir before a blast from Kiryu's wrist cannon blew him back and into the monument dedicated to all defenders who had fallen to the metallic god.
Jr coughed up blood, looking to Kiryu who stomped his foot down on his chest, which had a massive hole left in it. He didn't have much time, but he bought the children and Hercules much needed time.
"Struggling until the end. Illogical." Kiryu spoke, retracting his mechanical head to reveal the face of Suko. Older, angrier, and badly scarred and burnt from the day he was left to burn on the lava river by his old friend. "You must realize the end is here."
Jr, ever defiant, managed to speak one last time. "No. Still... hope..."
Suko, amused, stared coldly at his old friend. "False. Hope is a foolish delusion." He responded, looking to the massive hole in the dome as Mecha-Shimo descended, followed by the rest of the Mecha Defenders.
MechaGodzilla, Mecha-Anguirus, Mecha-Mothra, Mecha-Gamera, Mechani-Kong, and Mecha-Shimo all stood, their once blue lights now glowing a bloody red as they stood by Suko's side. "Your Mecha Defenders now belong to me, Godzilla Jr... and now... I will kill the children with them..."
Jr's vision began to fade as his final breaths were taken. As long as the children were still alive, there was hope... hope that the world could be safe from Kiryu and his armies. He closed his eyes, a voice calling out to him... one he had not heard in a long time...
It's ok, son...
Father's voice...
Let go... they will be ok.
Xira would be alright even if she sensed the death of her father. Hercules knew of a safe place to hide from Kiryu until things died down... and it would be where Jr's remaining siblings were. They would need the guidance of them without Jr...
With his final breath taken... Jr died...
Chapter 5: Recovery
Summary:
Having escaped Agartha, the Defenders must regain themselves and learn from the two additional surviving siblings of Jr.
Chapter Text
Qpeberha (Formerly known as Port Elizabeth)
Eastern Cape
South Africa
The city of Qpeberha remained deathly silent, having been long evacuated following the possible threat of an invasion from Kiryu’s forces since 13 years ago. However, among the abandoned buildings, a massive sort of den was established for a large group of Kaiju.
Hercules sat around a massive fire, with the children looking to him as he spoke… all except Xira, who was looking to the moon above.
Long ago, Gamera had fought the Kaiju known as Viras during the battle of Atlantis and took their fight to the moon. The two engaged in a battle that gave a new crater to the massive rock orbiting the world. That tale was the one that taught her that the moon was a harsh mistress… but father…
Xira felt his energy signature die off, leaving her with the knowledge that her father was gone, murdered by that Machine.
"Kiryu was a machine built long ago by humans, yet was made to bring about peace alongside us." Hercules spoke. Sanda and Gaira both ate a piece of meat as they listened, with the others looking on and listening carefully. "But something had happened from the looks of things… Kiryu became aggressive and turned on the humans. Our group was overwhelmed and I told Jr to get you all to safety…"
Rokmutul soon spoke up. "Wait, but where were you and the others during the past 13 years?" He asked. Hercules had said that two others were alive back in Agartha, two of Jr’s siblings.
"Fighting." Hercules simply responded. "We managed to slow him down to only conquering half of the Earth in 13 Years… but we cannot hold him alone…" He held the young Inferno in his hands before passing him onto Hyllus.
"My brother raised you all, hopefully the way your parents would have wanted… even if we are all that’s left…" Hercules spoke, before feeling a claw touch his shoulder.
"We’re not the only ones who survived…"
Hercules turned and saw his little sister… Gira. She had been adorned in scars and burns from 13 years ago, where they barely escaped thanks to Gamera's sacrifice.
"Aunt Gira!" Hyllus spoke, rushing to his aunt as he pushed his snout into her hers. Behind Gira was Rex, an incredibly muscular Gojira born without the ability to use Atomic Abilities. Thus, he trained to become a powerful brawler. He had been fitted with a mechanical brace across his arms, having them been broken a long while ago.
The brawler soon spoke. "Bagan is alive…"
The children soon turned to Rex, confused at what they heard. "Hey uh… who’s Bagan?" Sanda asked, with him soon obtaining an answer from Hercules.
"Bagan is a monsters, a beast of pure anger and muscle that could destroy all who stood in his way." Hercules responded, having had a rivalry back with Bagan when things weren’t so grim…
Xira turned to Hercules. "Could Bagan destroy Kiryu?" She asked. However, Gira responded to her niece or clone of her brother.
"He won't help you. He's been trying to move past the trauma that the Skar King had inflicted upon him years ago, so he has been in hiding for a long time..."
Phosphera soon crawled onto a building and spoke to Gira, her voice sounding almost very calming to all who heard her... when she needed to be calm. "Well, where could he be hiding then?" She asked. Surely he had to be somewhere Isolated and away from Kiryu's forces.
"Where he always goes... the Sahara desert." Gira responded. The Desert had seen much change since the events of Hades' attempt at the Extinction of all life on Earth, with tectonic plate shifts causing the desert to become filled with large plateaus of rock that reached into the clouds, along with shifts in gravity from the Hollow Earth to slip in every once and a while. But it was isolated and somewhat peaceful...
That would be where they would go.
Lahamu walked towards Xira, who seemed a little distant as she placed one of her short arms on her shoulder. "I'm... sorry about your father, Xira..." She wasn't the best with helping comfort others. Xira turned to Lahamu.
"In my species, death is not the end. It's more of a... stepping-off point." Xira said as she remembered back to what her father had said when Godzilla died long ago. "You reach out with both hands... you would be met with Kronos and Kyoshin, they lead you into Valhalla... where you can live in eternal peace." Kyoshin was the father of Godzilla and his 9 siblings, having been struck down by the three headed monster known as Ghidorah. Kronos was Kyoshin's brother, with there not being much on him aside from that. His whereabouts are currently unknown or if he's even alive.
"Sounds peaceful..." Lahamu commented.
"My father thought so..."
Sahara Desert
North Africa
The isolated den was home to an ancient beast of war, a few lone waterfalls inside and large plants growing along the walls. Among it all was Bagan, who prepared to sit down in front of the waterfall to calm himself.
The years of war and conflict had been taxing on him mentally, suffering abuse as an adolescent by his master known as King Garaang, an Orangutan Kong who led his people in a great war against the Gojira and their allies. But as the war came to an end and Garaang was killed by a reptilian Kaiju known as Salunga, the very same green Kaiju sealed him away for thousands of years in a deep sleep. That was... until the early 2100's...
As if his eyes had deceived him, an ape resembling King Garaang known as the New Skar King or Suko had freed him and used him as a tool of war against the Kongs and was forced to kill Shimo's mate known as Hyoga by using the Bullhook Garaang had beaten him with. Controlled by trauma, he followed his every command until he became free after Godzilla used Mjolnir to shatter the weapon and freed Bagan from Suko's shackles. However, he had escaped into the volcanic sector of the Hollow Earth, leaving the nephew of an old ape known as Proximus, called Kai and Godzilla Jr, to pursue him.
It was after a massive battle on the Lava River that Kai and Jr achieved the High Ground and seemingly left him limbless and to burn on the lava river...
"Bagan!"
A singular voice called out, startling him as he turned to the source of it and his eyes widened. No... no no no no no no, why were they all there?
A group of younger Kaiju with and infant, along with three adult Gojira. One of them was Hercules, a rival of his back during Suko's reign as Skar King.
During the Battle of Atlantis, Hercules was thrown off the city by Titanosaurus and into a fissure below, sending him into the Hollow Earth. The fall caused him massive injuries, however he survived and was taken in by the apes of the Hollow Earth who had long thought their leader had died during the fight. During the year of his stay in the Colony, Hercules became something of a babysitter for some of the younger apes, taking care of them as he healed up. But during the time of Bagan's attack, he stepped up to try and stop him, only to be overpowered and unable to stop him from killing Proximus, a brother to the tyrannical ape that razed San Francisco with Orga in 2095.
"No... NO NO NO NO, WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?!" Bagan questioned, his voice high in fear. He had been trying to stay out of conflict after all of this time, yet here comes a group associated with the people he fought under Suko's control.
"Nuts, anyone?" Boreas questioned. This was the Ancient War Beast? A triceratops who seemed scared at their appearance at his isolation location?
Hercules stepped forward towards Bagan. "Bagan, It's me, Its--"
"GET OUT OF HERE, HERCULES!" The triceratops Kaiju shouted. He had only wanted to be left alone and away from war to be his own person, not what Garaang or Suko made him to be.
"Bagan." Gira spoke, stepping forward. "It's alright... we don't want you to get angry..."
Bagan's breathing calmed, knowing if he got enraged, he'd lose control until he burned it all out...
"Well he is scary... I guess..." Sanda spoke to himself, only for Gaira to respond to him.
"Shut up, Sanda."
2 Hours later...
Bagan sat around a large fire with Rex, Gira, Xira, Rokmutul, Hercules, Phosphera, Toto, and Hyllus. "It's too dangerous to be here... I'm too dangerous..." He spoke to the group. All he had ever done was destroy and kill, making his image to other Kaiju and even humans appear as a Destroyer Kaiju like that of Ghidorah and Gigan.
"It's alright, Bagan. We just needed to get out of Kiryu's reach... We'll be on our way soon enough." Rex spoke, about to continue only for his niece Xira to interrupt.
"Can you defeat Kiryu?" She questioned. The stories she had heard of Bagan depicted him tearing apart swarms of enemies with absolute ease, perhaps he could defeat Kiryu the same way.
Bagan turned, an angered expression in his black and red eyes. "I don't care about Kiryu, Girl." He stated sharply. "I just want to be left alone. You're all in danger, I stayed here to avoid conflict so I don't lose control... I'm sorry, but I can't help you."
Toto stepped outside of the cave where Bagan and the adults were in, looking out to the group outside. Rokmutul was tossing a stone in his paws, whilst looking out to the horizon. Phosphera was watching the infant Inferno, who was currently asleep and sparking with electricity a bit. Sayuki, Boreas, Lahamu, Sanda, and Gaira were all sitting down, thinking to themselves as to try and figure out what to do next. Hyllus was staring out to the sun over the horizon, deep in thought.
"So what do we do now?" The turtle asked his friends. "Hercules wants us to hide but-"
Phosphera soon spoke up. "He's right, we have to run." She turned to her fellow Kaiju, still holding Inferno. "We have to hide, we can't beat Kiryu..."
"Yes, we can... And we have to..." Xira spoke, stepping out from the cave to see the people she grew up with. "We can't hide anymore, Phosphera, If we don't stand up to Kiryu, who will?" She turned to the others, who slowly began to stand up and listen to her.
"If we don't protect people like Hercules did, who will? We have to make a stand. The longer we wait the more powerful Kiryu becomes. He'll never stop hunting us. We have to stop him." Xira took a moment, remembering her father and her friends' parents. They were all that was left of their legacy.
"We owe it to our parents. We're all that's left of their legacy"
Xira turned to the cave. "Bagan is the strongest here, right?" She soon turned back to the others. "Well, if he won't go to Kiryu, we bring Kiryu here..."
"That has to be the most words you've said in a row." Gaira responded. He had never heard her speak that much in the time he knew her.
Toto sighed. "You're insane... but alright, lets do it..."
The turtle and the Gojira got into position, Toto charging up his fireballs before firing directly into Xira's dorsals, empowering her to new heights before unleashing an orange atomic blast into the sky, generating a massive energy spike across all sensors across the world.
There was no doubt that Kiryu would come running to them now. "Now then... who wants to go tell Bagan?"
Xira found herself gripped by the neck, pinned to the wall by Bagan's powerful arm. The beast was incredibly angered, looking directly into her eyes. "YOU DID WHAT!?"
Hercules, Gira, and Rex struggled to get Bagan to release his grip from Xira, whilst the rest looked on at the situation. "Should we help her?" Toto questioned.
"Dude, It was her plan" Gaira spoke.

Sahara Desert
Africa
The storm above released the last bit of rain down upon the area, the cave of which Bagan remained hidden serving as a staging ground for the Kaiju who prepared to make their stand against Kiryu and his possessed Mecha Defenders.
Lahamu pulsed pink as she prepared her phosphorus ink to be used against the Mecha Defenders, capable of either eroding their metal or melting through them entirely. Inferno was kept with Rex, the scarred older individual holding his Adoptive baby brother. Sayuki and Boreas prepared their frostbite blasts as Hercules walked by them.
"From what Little I know about humanity's machines, the Mecha Defenders are powerful, but they're not invincible." He stated. "Go for exposed joints, try to slip up their programming."
Sanda held his axe, tossing over a dorsal spear to Gaira, who was quite proficient with the weapon. Toto charged himself up, ready to either generate a shield, shoot his fireballs, or use his Banishing Fist attack with his arm. Rokmutul slammed his tail into the ground, getting it warmed up for when the attack would occur. Finally, Xira charged herself up as orange atomic power coursed through her.
"Don't make the same mistake I did and get locked down to one opponent, you have each other to rely on." Hercules continued, looking to Phosphera who had just prepared herself for battle. However, Gaira soon spoke up. "What about Kiryu?"
Hercules turned to the green ape. "Kiryu is another story..."
"This plan seemed a lot better with Bagan involved..." Sayuki spoke. Bagan could have torn apart the Mechas easily, maybe even Kiryu. But now, all he was doing was trying to avoid conflict.
"Whether you know it or not, you've prepared for this all your lives." Hercules spoke, about to continue on more only for what would seem to be an earthquake to rock across the area as the children ran out towards the exit, spotting what seemed to be a mechanical version of Sayuki and Boreas' mother: Shimo.
The hulking Mecha unleashed a blast from her maw, an oscillatory wave that broke away the stone they stood on and began to fall down 5 kilometers down from the sky. The Kaiju fell, those who could fly grabbing who they could carry quickly. Toto quickly grabbed Rokmutul, Sanda, Gaira, and Lahamu, whilst Phosphera grabbed onto Xira and despite all odds, managed to carry her despite her smaller size.
Landing on the ground, Xira saw Sayuki and Boreas using their claws on the mountainside to control their descent to the ground, landing with a few thuds as they all turned to see the sight of multiple mechas approaching their location... It was time.
MechaGodzilla landed first, leading the group of defenders much like how Godzilla led the real ones first and Jr leading them after his death. Mecha-Anguirus soon followed up, his spikes shining as the sun began to peek through the storm clouds. Mecha-Mothra hovered above, her thrusters keeping her aloft in the sky. Mecha-Gamera soon landed, slamming his fists together as he prepared for battle. Finally, Mechani-Kong stood and pounded his chest, unleashing a roar of challenge
Xira stood with the others as she faced MechaGodzilla, the mecha's red eyes pulsing brightly. "Everyone choose your targets..." She spoke as Hyllus and Lahamu stood by her side to fight against the metallic version of her grandfather.
Boreas and Sayuki began charging at Mecha-Shimo with haste, prepared for battle against the metal copy of their own mother. Phosphera was already charging towards Mecha-Mothra while Rokmutul was heading towards Mecha-Anguirus and Toto went for Mecha-Gamera. Sanda and Gaira were already running towards Mechani-Kong to try and put him down quickly to help out in the fight with the others.
Let the Battle Commence...
Sayuki and Boreas charged towards Mecha-Shimo, the siblings tackling the machine down as their paws began clawing at the metallic frame. Sparks were produced upon it, but even the Shimolochs couldn't break through the Tungsten and Titanium composite metal that was used in the construction of the Mecha Defenders. Mecha-Shimo's claws gripped Boreas by the neck and flung him to the side, leaving Sayuki to battle the Mecha alone. Her frostbite blast charged up in her maw before unleashing it upon the machine after backing up a safe distance from it.
The large amount of ice and snow was growing upon the Mecha's body, before it became fully encased ice like Ghidorah had all those millions of years ago...
"YES!" Boreas shouted to his older sister as he got back up to see that she had encased their mother's mechanical imposter in ice. However, the red lights on the Mecha turned orange before-
CRACK
Mecha-Shimo broke free of the ice and roared loudly to the two siblings, the front limbs transforming into concussive cannons as they looked on in disbelief...
Sayuki just sighed. "Oh come on..."
The machine began firing upon them, the siblings quickly creating a wall of ice to protect them as they began to formulate a plan to deal with Mecha-Shimo. Their attacker had multiple capabilities it seemed, including concussive cannons and standard weaponry...
"You go left and I go right?" Boreas spoke to his sister. The could try and overwhelm it quickly before it had the chance to fight back. Sayuki simply nodded, not having any better ideas for fighting back against the mechanical menace.
With that, they rushed to each side, ready to engage in a battle against it...
In the skies above the battlefield, Phosphera was locked in battle with Mecha-Mothra as they performed maneuvers to avoid each other's attacks. The young Kaiju latched onto the mecha's body and began striking it with her might to try and deactivate it quickly, using a small amount of magic to add extra force into her strikes. However, she failed to notice the gem on the machine's forehead began to glow, which suddenly unleashed a powerful Cross Heat Laser upon her.
The beam stuck Phosphera, knocking her out of the sky before she quickly regained herself just before she hit the ground. She looked around to the fights going on around her.
Rokmutul was already tearing the metal copy of his father to pieces with ease, smashing into him with his ball mode. Toto was struggling against his own father's copy that had all his moves programmed into him.
Phosphera shook her head, beginning to fly back up to face Mecha-Mothra with an increased will to stop the false version of her mentor.
Toto struck Mecha-Gamera in the head with his fist, grabbing it by the neck before lifting the machine over his head despite the immense weight it held.
The turtle slammed Mecha-Gamera into the ground and jumped back, looking down at the metal imitation as he cracked his knuckles. "Sorry robot, I'm just too strong for you."
Mecha-Gamera growled as its hull began to shift and transform into a more offensive version of itself. Blades emerged from its elbows and arms, limbs become more sleek and agile before his face shifted to one like a snapping turtle.
"Ok… that’s a neat trick…" Toto stepped back and began to charge a fireball in his throat, blue sparks of energy and the orange glow of fire traveled up his mouth as he fired it towards the metal copy of his father.
Mecha-Gamera jumped forward and out of the way of the attack, the fireball screeching away from its target as blades aimed to cut into Toto with deadly accuracy.
A deep gash had been made along Toto's torso, the would spilling out a small amount of greenish blue blood before beginning to seal up due to Gamera's species' healing factor. The kaiju raced forward and raked his claws against Mecha-Gamera's face, leaving a deep tear of metal along it and damaging the left optic.
Toto raised his arm and caught a strike from the mecha, with the blade's edge suddenly beginning to spin like it were a chainsaw. Another strike was aimed for Toto's neck, only to be caught by the kaiju's hand. Because of the young turtle's strength, Mecha-Gamera began to increase the strength of his limbs.
Toto struggled against the strength, watching as each blade slowly inched towards him. "YOU'RE NOT THE GUARDIAN OF THE UNIVERSE, PRETENDER." He shouted as his fists began to slowly glow orange with the energy of his fireballs.
Almost in an instant, Mecha-Gamera's arms were suddenly torn off and left molten stumps of metal where the limbs once were. Toto slammed a Scorching Fist straight through Mecha-Gamera's torso and destroyed the power source.
Toto tossed the deactivated machine aside, a burning energy still across his arms. "I am The Guardian of the Universe, like my father before me…"
Sanda and Gairahid behind a large stone pile as Mechani-Kong unleashed a volley of missiles from his wrist mounted cannons. The two brother weighed their options.
"You wanna try and trip up his programming?" Gaira asked his brother while readying his spear, the tip of which was the crystal of a sort of rock in the Hollow Earth.
Sanda smirked, pulling up his axe. "Attack simultaneously, he'll have no way of having time to react." He took his fist up for a bump between him and his brother. "Go time?"
"Go time." Gaira responded just as the missile storm stopped, the two brother jumping out of their hiding spots as they charged towards Mechani-Kong. The mechanical ape reached into its back and pulled out a long whip that began to spark with energy. The machine swung the whip towards the two apes who quickly ducked under the attack and swung their weapons at the electrified weapon, cutting the long rope in half as Sanda delivered a punch into Mechani-Kong and jumped onto the machine's shoulders before striking with his spear into the back and shoulders of the metal copy.
Gaira struck with his axe into Mechani-Kong's hull in hopes of causing major damage to the internal systems needed to run it. However, it only produced sparks and warped paint from the attack, before he was suddenly backhanded by a metallic hand and soon saw his brother get flung off and towards the husk of Mecha-Gamera.
Sanda landed with a thud as his spear broke apart on impact, leaving him without a weapon. He rolled back to his feet and spotted Mechani-Kong rushing towards his brother who had already gotten back up.
Looking around, Sanda found the shell of Mecha-Gamera that remained undamaged due to it being a tungsten metal covered in a diamond coating. Quickly, the young ape grabbed some large metal cables and tied it to the shell to make a shield.
Back with Gaira, he swung his axe forward as it clashed with Mechani-King's own blade, struggling to push back against the Machine's superior strength. That was when a flat object flew towards the mecha's head and knocked out an optic.
Sanda caught the shield as it rebounded back to him, ramming Mechani-Kong aside and to a far distance. He held out a hand to his brother, pulling him up as the two turned to face the machine.
Inside the hidden den, Gira and Rex watched as the fights unfolded, explosions of munitions beginning to set the area ablaze and quakes to break off pieces of stone from the ceiling.
Gira whipped around and soon shouted to Bagan, who remained silent and trying to remain calm. "ARE YOU JUST GOING TO LET THEM DIE, BAGAN!?"
"I swore to never fight after what I had gone through, what can’t you understand?"
However, at the entrance to the cave, a large machine approached and began to charge up a strange weapon. Gira and Rex ran into a different part of the cave and remained silent, hearing as a beam struck into Bagan and knocked him to the ground.
The former God of War groaned out as he spotted Mecha-Shimo standing above him, soulless eyes staring blankly before beam cannons on its hands and in the mouth began firing upon him once more.
Xira, Hyllus, and Lahamu were locked in battle against MechaGodzilla, who fired off multiple missiles out towards the Gojira from its pods located on the shoulders and torso.
The missiles struck Xira, stunning her before Lahamu suddenly jumped from the smoke cloud and wrapped herself around the machine's neck. She began to constrict it tightly, the steel groaning and red energies beginning to leak from the mouth as the proton scream was rendered useless. While this happened, Hyllus struck the machine with quick and decisive blows to the torso, head, and arms.
A shockwave shot across MechaGodzilla's hull and sent Lahamu and Hyllus flying away, fist charged with power before a punch cracked across Xira's face and knocked her into a wall of the massive mountains that reached past the clouds. The Mecha kneed her in the torso, knocking the wind out of her. Xira charged up her Atomic Breath in retaliation.
However MechaGodzilla delivered an uppercut, causing her beam to blast into the sky above them, before beginning to stab its tail towards Xira. The young Gojira caught the scorpion-like tail, watching the end's blades spin up like a drill that grew ever closer towards her face.
No. Xira thought to herself. No this can't be how it ends.
The blades spun closer and closer among the cackling of the machine. That was when…
RRRRRAAAAAAAAGGGGGGKKKK
The battles sharply came to a halt as a roar of primal rage and fury echoed across the desert. The source came from Bagan's den, where Mecha-Shimo was suddenly blown out of down to the ground below. The mecha's torso was torn to pieces, as if a beam had blown into it.
Something jumped from the top of the mountains just as a massive foot crushed the machine's head. Standing above the twisted hull of the machine was Bagan. His eyes glowed with the ferocity of a true God of War, smoke pouring out of his mouth as he slammed his fists together to show his willingness to fight.
"Incredible…" Xira watched as MechaGodzilla stepped away from her and charged towards the newly arrived Bagan with the objective to kill the beast, or at least try.
Rokmutul watched on as Mechani-Kong and MechaGodzilla went to fight the newcomer. "We're doing it!" He shouted. "We're gonna win!"
Up above the battle Phosphera performed an upward wing cut as the edge of her wing turned into a blade made of diamond, using the mystical arts her mentor told her once again. The blade cleaved Mecha-Mothra in half, sending the two halves falling to the ground where Bagan continued to tear apart the machines below.
Mechani-Kong jumped into the air with his Electro Axe, lightning arching across it as he struck Bagan in he head. The blade shattered upon impact, before the triceratops Kaiju unleashed a yellow beam upon the machine, reducing it to a pile of molten slag. Next came MechaGodzilla who struck Bagan in the chest with a charged punch.
Bagan snarled in annoyance and slammed his massive fists into the machine's torso and completely shattered the metal holding it together. The mecha's damaged head rolled to the feet of Xira, with all the children watching on as Bagan unleaded a powerful roar into the air.
As he looked to the sky, a red flash appeared before-
BZZZZZTHHOOOOM
A large blast struck Bagan from above, the force being enough to even knock him down into a crater as the sight of a familiar foe froze everyone in their tracks. The one who murdered Xira's father and destroyed their home.
Kiryu stomped onto Bagan's back and pulled his head up, his talons digging into the almost unbreakable armor. "Did you think I forgot about you, monster?" He questioned before slamming his face directly into the ground, knocking the seemingly unbeatable Kaiju unconscious.
Sayuki spoke up as they watched the scene unfold. "Guys… it's him…" Everyone remained silent until Xira stepped forward.
"Eyes up." She clenched her claws into fists, atomic energy flowing through her body. "Stay sharp!"
On that order, everyone charged forward. Sayuki and Boreas were the first to strike quickly, tackling the Mecha who still remained standing upright. The siblings unleashed their Frostbite Blasts from their mouths, freezing his body in place.
Kiryu snarled as he fired a Maser Beam into Boreas and broke out of the ice with raw strength. His claws gripped Sayuki by the neck and flung her towards her little brother, knocking them both out on Impact. Soon came Toto, firing his fireballs towards Kiryu. The mecha fired short bursts of his Maser Cannon to destroy the balls before they struck him.
Toto slashed Kiryu's face, cracking the red lens that made up his eye and grabbed the machine by the neck, slowly increasing the pressure and sending his energy into his Banishing Fists. His eyes glowed a bright green as Kiryu growled, both his arms transforming into powerful cannons and blasting his attacker back, leaving a scorching mark across his torso and leaving him knocked out of the battle.
Anong the blasts from the remaining Kaiju, Phosphera and Rokmutul ran towards the mecha who remained in an enrage state. The son of Anguirus rolled into his ball form and allowed Phosphera to fire her own Cross Heat Laser that only scorched the metal slightly. Kiryu simply caught Rokmutul and flung him towards Phosphera, knocking then both out of the fight with the others who failed.
The came along a sort of shield flung into his helmet, causing moderate damage as Sanda and Gaira attacked side by side. The twins struck constantly with the shield and axe, only managing to put a few cracks until they were both slammed aside by Kiryu's powerful tail.
Hyllus ducked under a strike from Kiryu, blasting him with his emerald Atomic Breath. His speed made it difficult to be struck, but it wasn't impossible… because Kiryu was almost about to land a strike on Hyllus only for him to catch it.
The young hybrid of Gojira and Zilla held back the metallic claw in a fist, roaring out in defiance as he pushed back. "Struggling until the end?" Kiryu questioned before taking his other arm and striking Hyllus directly in the face, knocking him out.
"Now Ends the Defenders' Legacy." He spoke onto the unconscious Kaiju, only for something to catch his eye from his left.
Xira, enraged and charged with Atomic Power, leapt towards Kiryu as energy directed itself into her claw. Before the mecha could react, she struck his face with all her might, producing an explosion as both were sent back.
As the metal plating came off of the mecha, Kiryu staggered backwards clutching his face. Xira slowly got to her feet, taking a moment to catch her breath before turning her attention back to the machine.
The mech slowly lowered his hand, his shiny metal talons glimmering in the light of the fire. The yellow glass that had once made up his synthetic eye was shattered, half of his metallic mask having been torn away by Xira's powerful claws.
She felt her stomach twist, tying itself into knots. Her eyes widened at the sight of it... the twisted glowing wires... the burnt and scarred flesh beneath the glimmering metal. Nothing but a bloodied red eye staring back at her.
Before her father's death, she heard stories of Sanda and Gaira's father she swore to never tell them. He became the Skar King like his ancestor before him, and because of it, the world suffered… Was this what became of him?
But before Kiryu could pursue to engage in the battle once again, Xira felt the ground open up beneath her as a portal swallowed her whole in an instant... leaving nothing but the pale soulless husk of Suko's burnt and scarred face burned into her memory as everything faded to black.
The portal below her and everyone else had been exposed and destabilized due to the fighting above and Bagan's landing.
Kiryu took a moment to catch his breath, wheezing coughs coming from his broken helmet only to silence as a large claw grabbed his lower half in one hand and upped in the other.
Bagan roared out in rage at his enemy. He began pulling the halves in opposite directions, letting the metal creak and groan as in one swift movement.
Bagan ripped Kiryu in half…
The machine's halves fell to the ground, eyes flickering before deactivating to a cold dark grey. Bagan stepped back, slamming his fists into the ground and roaring in victory as he began to leave the den he once called home. Now that he had been affected by this conflict, it was time to stand and fight against his enemies…
Rex, Gira and Hercules watched on as the children fell through the portal. However they did not worry, for they had each other and would overcome whatever may come in their way…
Hours later…
Across the Sahara, lone MechaGodzilla units began to pick up the pieces of their commander who remained alive but unconscious. Their master had sent them orders to begin the retrieval and bring him back.
Their master was not at all pleased to hear of the defeat of Kiryu, their strongest commander that had helped in the goal of total Kaiju Annihilation…
As for the children, they were of no concern. Once the surface was taken, they would go for the Hollow Earth and kill them anyways…
