Work Text:
Buck wakes up to a small hand on his cheek and a light whisper “Buck”. He grunts slightly, not fully awake yet. “Bucky!” comes the whisper again. Only one person in the world has the privilege of calling him that so he wakes up.
“Yeah bud” he croaks gently his eyes still closed as if he’d be able to go back to sleep if he tried.
“I’m bored” Chris said so genuinely it causes a tingly sensation in his heart. Buck winks one eye open to see his alarm read 7:00am. He groans internally and wants to whine for 5 more minutes to Chris. But, overall, he’s thrilled to have such a heart-warming wake up call.
“Well, that sounds like an emergency to me. Can’t have my little man bored can we” he says bring his hand out to ruffle Chris’s hair. Chris giggles. “How do we feel for some French toast today bud?”
Chris nods enthusiastically.
“Okay you go set up, I’ll just freshen up and meet you there Superman.”
“Okay Buck” he smiles and makes his way out. Buck drags himself up and twists his torso to see Eddie still fast asleep. He leans over slightly awkwardly and places a gentle kiss on his forehead. Breathing in his scent as he does.
Buck made his way to the kitchen to see Chris laying out the ingredients for him. He remembers first cooking in the Diaz kitchen when Chris could barely reach half the stuff he’s already laid out. There was the tingly sensation again. “Ready sous chef?”
“Yep, all ready chef” he says seriously and with they begin cooking.
Not long after they start breakfast Eddie walks in his hair tousled and sticking up all different directions. Buck looked up and instantly let out a fond chuckle “morning handsome”.
Eddie just groaned in response and dragged his way over to Buck. He pressed his body up against him and hugged him at the waist. “Why are my boys up so early. On a Sunday. On Gods day. Where everyone is meant to sleep in”
Chris giggled “we’re making French toast dad”.
“I can see that mijo. Having fun?” Chris nods as he goes back to mixing the batter.
“Sorry we woke you”.
Eddie waves it off “I wouldn’t want to miss this anyways. Love watching you guys make breakfast” he said reaching up and kissing Buck gently.
“Ew daddddd” Chris whined.
“Sorry, bud. Get used to it” Eddie shrugged unapologetically “Alright Buckley put me to work”.
After breakfast Chris was set up at the TV to watch some cartoons and began cleaning up. Eddie slid behind him and wrapped his arms around him from the back. Resting his chin Bucks shoulder. He placed a small kiss on Bucks ear “leave it, you cooked, I’ve got this”.
Buck swivels his body around still within Eddie’s arms and wraps his own around Eddie’s neck. “It’d be quicker if we both did it you know” he smirks.
Eddie kisses his lips gently again like he’s trying to memorise the feeling “I love you” he whispered against his lips.
“I love you too Ed’s. More than you know” Buck replied. They stood there for a moment wrapped in each other’s embrace and in the pit of Buck’s stomach he felt afraid to let go of Eddie, like he’d lose him if he did.
“What’s the plan for today?” Eddie asked after a moment.
“Not sure yet, maybe we can go to the zoo, or I know the aquarium has an exhibition open for a while about whales, we can go see that- but…” Buck cuts himself off sighing.
“But?” Eddie asks tilting his head up to see bucks face.
“But I kind of want to curl up with you and Chris all day and do nothing. I know it sounds silly because we’ve spent the week together but I just… I miss you guys”.
“hmmm” Eddie hums knowingly and places his head back on Buck’s chest “not silly. I’d love to spend another day just at home with you.”
“Yeah?”
“Of course, mi amor. I'm happy as long as you and Chris are with me” he confirms. There’s that tingly sensation again.
So that’s what they do the whole Sunday. Buck and Chris make a cosy pillow fort in the living room, and they spent the day playing board games and watching movies. Eddie ordered pizza for dinner and before Buck knew it Chris was snuggled into him on the coach sleeping through the movie, he insisted he would be awake enough to watch. “I’ll take him to his room” Eddie said after the movie finished.
“Can I?” Buck offered.
Eddie smiled lovingly “of course, hermoso” buck scooped Chris into his arms and took him to his bed. He carefully took his glasses off and placed them on the bedside table before tucking him in. He placed a gentle kiss on his forehead and Chris blinked awake “I love you, Buck.”
“I love you too superman” he said biting back a sob as he closed the door shut.
“I’m so not ready for him to grow up” Buck said as he sat back on the couch with Eddie.
Eddie huffed out a laugh “tell me about it. The teenage years are coming soon, and I don’t think we’re prepared yet” he said shaking his head.
“Eh you should be used it. I’m the cool parent. Once he’s a teenager though, not so much” Buck said grinning.
“Hey now, I can be cool. You’re just not immune to the puppy dog eyes yet”.
“I mean I don’t understand how you are?! They’re so powerful” Eddie chuckles shaking his head.
There’s a moment of silence before Eddie intertwines their hands and looks at Buck “We should have another one.”
“Beer?”
Eddie laughs “No! A baby. Let’s… let’s have another one.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah! We can get a bigger place now that we have two incomes. And Hen can help with the adoption process. I know Chris would be a great older brother. “
Buck smiles widely “okay let’s do it! We’ll have a girl. And we can set up their rooms perfectly at the new house. Oh, and I definitely want one of t those creepy rocking chairs in her nursery” Buck said excitedly.
Eddie laughs “we can start looking into it properly tomorrow” he says with a nod.
“You’re being serious right?” Buck asks hesitantly.
“Yes of course. Cariño, I want everything with you. I want a picket white fence house. And the dog you and Chris will bully me into getting. I want to grow old and grey with you. I definitely want to see how sexy you look when the white comes into your hair.” He runs his fingers through Bucks hair “I can’t wait to wake up next to you every day for the rest of my life.”
Buck feels his eyes tear up “I love you so much Eddie. I never thought I’d-“ a sharp pain to the chest stops him. His hand flies to cover his chest and his breath hitches.
“Buck” Eddie shouts “what’s wrong?”
“I- I can’t” he feels jolts running through his body.
"You have to wake up!"
"I am awake" he says through gritted teeth.
"Buck, baby, what’s wrong you're scaring me" that’s Eddie’s voice. He has to hold onto it.
"Please don’t let me go. I don’t want to go" he pleads.
“I’m right here cariño stay with me.”
"Wake up Evan. please baby brother”.
"Maddie?" he gasps.
Then he looks up and the images in front of him become distorted. the loft is merging in with Eddies house then the fire station. Eddie is no longer in front of him, and he can hear Bobby and even Athena at some point. He clenches his eyes shut as the world around him spins faster until he’s finally able to take a breath.
“Buck" he hears but the voice is muffled.
"Eddie?" he asks hopeful. He hopes he’s right back on the couch with Eddie until he blinks his eyes open to see the familiar white walls of the hospital. The beeping of the monitors make themselves known and he looks to the side to see Maddie standing over him tears in her eyes whispering for him to breathe and relax. And that’s when he realises it. It wasn’t real. None of it was. He doesn’t realise he’s crying until Maddie starts wiping the tears from his face. At this point he is straight up sobbing and begging Maddie to let him go back.
“Please Mr Buckley just try to relax, you are going to rip your stitches” the stern voice of a nurse comes from his other side, but he can’t focus on that he needs to get back to Eddie please.
“What happened?” Chim asked when he sees Maddie walk out to the waiting room tears in her eyes. Eddie, Bobby, and Hen all stood up instantly thinking the worst.
“He’s fine.” Maddie assured quickly “But he… he woke up and I think he was just overwhelmed and didn’t understand what was happening. He started crying and asking me to let him go. The nurse sedated him, so he didn’t aggravate any wounds. She said he’d wake up in a couple hours hopefully less disoriented.
Chim wrapped his arms around her “I’m sure he’ll be fine Maddie.” Maddie nodded unconvinced and lent her head on his shoulder.
The next time Buck woke up it was from a dreamless sleep. He looked around and saw Maddie and Bobby asleep on either side of him in what looked and most definitely was uncomfortable positions. Only took a small grunt when he tried to move for Bobby’s eyes to open and look around widely “Buck you’re awake” he said breathless.
Buck smiled although it may have come off more as a grimace. He tried to open his mouth to speak but nothing came out “just a sec” Bobby said noticing his struggle. He brought a small glass with a straw and helped Buck drink some water. It was soothing for his throat but painful to swallow. Why was it painful to swallow?
“They had to intubate you when your oxygen levels went down. So, you’ll have a sore throat for a little while” Buck nodded slightly “you remember what happened?”
Buck closed his eyes for a second and flashes of him talking to Eddie and Chim as he geared up to climb the ladder and then there was a spark of some kind. Electricity? “Electrocuted?” He asked.
“Kind of, I guess. It was lightening Buck. It hit you while you were on the ladder. Sent you in cardiac arrest. You’re okay now though. The doctor will come see you and go over everything properly.”
Buck nodded. After a moment of silence Bobby cleared his throat “you scared the life out of me kid. I thought I lost you” he whispered like if he wasn’t ready to face the truth out loud yet.
“Sorry” Buck offered not sure what else to say, but he felt guilty for the broken look on Bobby’s face. He didn’t deserve any more hurt.
Bobby smiled lovingly and carded his hand through Bucks hair “that’s okay son” Buck lent into the feeling and left his eyes drift close again.
“So, what gives?” Maddie asked as she fluffed Buck's pillows.
“What do you mean.”
“I mean what gives? It’s been 4 days since you’ve woken up and you’ve been zoning out like a lot. And at first, I thought it was like a side effect of… you know… the lightening. But the doctor says it’s normal to be overwhelmed because of the trauma but that neurologically you’re cleared.”
“Okay” Buck responded unsure of what was going on.
“Then I realised that the last two times Eddie came to visit you pretended to fall asleep and you only stayed awake the third time because Chris was here.”
“Where is this going Mads?” he asked still confused and slightly irritated.
She sighed. Her eyes softening “I just wanted you to tell me what’s wrong. I know a lot happened and if you don’t want to talk to me but a professional that’s okay. I just want you to be okay. I don’t want to lose you. Not again” the words hang in the air for a while. At least 5 minutes before Buck all but whispers
I had a dream,
I got everything I wanted.
Not what you’d think.
And if I’m being honest, it might have been a nightmare
Maddie nodded “why was it a nightmare if it was everything you wanted”.
“Because it wasn’t real. And I woke up knowing it never can be. Mads, it was just everything I’ve ever dreamt of having. It felt so real and I just… I didn’t want to let it go. It hurts.”
“Can I ask what it was?”
Buck explained his dream to her, tears streaming down his face at the memories that didn’t exist. “It’s what I’ve always wanted. And I didn’t even realise I wanted it with Eddie. But now that I know, and I know how it feels to be in it with him. it hurts so much more to not have it. I feel like I lost something I never had how dumb it that” he scoffs self-deprecatingly.
“Hey, no it’s not dumb. It may not have happened out here, but it felt real to you okay. And those feelings are valid. You are allowed to feel however you want towards them.”
“I want to go back.” He whispered.
“Buck”
“No, I know how it sounds. But I miss them. I miss feeling loved like that. I miss feeling less alone and having hope of happiness” he covers his face with his hands as a sob breaks through.
Maddie goes towards him and wraps in a tight hug “I know it doesn’t feel like it now. But you can have that, Buck. Maybe not exactly as your dream was. But something that brings you hope of happiness like it did.”
“Eddie’s straight” is all he can think to say.
“It doesn’t have to be Eddie” she counters “it can be anyone. You just have to open to it.”
“But I love Eddie.”
Maddie hesitated for a second “I think… I think you loved the Eddie your mind created in your dream.” She said carefully “And that’s okay. But maybe keep your options open. And if it really is Eddie you want, I would say talk to him. You never know. But don’t shut down the possibility that you might find what you’re looking for out here okay.”
Buck nods. She wasn’t wrong, he just needed to get back to reality “thanks Mads” he whispered hugging her again.
“Buck wake up! Buck!” Eddie said gently shaking his shoulder.
Buck gasped as he got pulled out of his dream. He instantly broke out into a coughing fit. Felt Eddie’s strong hand on his back rubbing circles. Small soothing circles that reminded him of his coma dream and the love he felt when he and Eddie just held each other. His eyes welled up with tears and he finally began catching his breath.
“You okay bud” Buck nodded taking another sip of water.
“Yeah sorry. Still got messed up lungs” he rasped.
Eddie nodded and sat back down in his chair but kept Bucks hand in his. He looks gorgeous Buck thought. His hair had grown out a bit and his lips looked extra appealing. And besides looking like the love of his life. He looked exhausted “you okay?” He asked.
Eddie let out a laugh “you get struck by lightning and you’re asking me that?”
Buck just stared at him eyebrows up waiting. Eddie shook his head and smiled fondly “I’m fine Buck. Just missed you” Buck heart fluttered at the words.
“Missed you too Eds.”
“What were you dreaming about right now. Seemed intense”
“Yeah. I actually haven’t had this nightmare in a while. Seems the lightening brought it back just to cover its bases.”
“What was it about?” Eddie asked then flustered “I mean if you want to talk about it. If not, then we can just leave it” he said quickly letting go of Buck’s hand.
Buck instantly missed the warmth but cleared his throat and nodded “It was this like recurring nightmare I used to have back during the… during the lawsuit” he mumbled the end not wanting to dredge up the past.
Eddie just nodded for him to carry on “it was probably the lowest I’ve ever felt. I’ve always been alone, been used to it. But having a taste of having a family and a passion and then losing it, I kind of lost it you know. Did the stupidest thing ever and listened to Mackey. I had never felt more alone or broken so I used to have this nightmare where I …
Thought I could fly
So I stepped off the Golden
Nobody cried,
nobody even noticed
I saw them standing there
Kinda thought they might care
“I’m so sorry Buck. You have to know that no matter what was going, we – I never didn’t care for you. Never.” Eddie said heartbroken at Bucks confession.
Buck shrugged before he shook his head “I’d never do it anyways. No matter how bad it got, I didn’t give up. I couldn’t. I promised Chris” and well if that isn’t the most heart wrenching thing Eddie’s ever heard.
Eddies tears fell freely for a second before his sniffled and wipes them away along with any trace of his emotions. He moved closer and wrapped his hand around bucks again “I don’t care what’s going on between us, lawsuits, tsunami, street fighting, you ever feel like that again, you come talk to me okay. You deserve more life filled with love and laughter than you think okay”.
Buck nods shakily his heart rate doubling with the urge to pull Eddie in for a kiss. A kiss to show that he wants the life of love and laughter with him and no one else.
“Do you know what brought the dream back? you said it’s been a while.”
Buck cleared his throat “I think the coma dream I had really messed with my head. Just been feeling a bit alone. I know I’m not though, Maddie drilled into to me before she left” he said with a small smile.
“Well, she’s right. You’re never alone. I’ve got your back”.
Buck nodded again just soaking in the love. His eyes felt heavy, but he didn’t want to leave Eddie. Eddie, of course, notices and rubs his hands over Bucks soothingly “you can sleep, I’ll be here when you wake up”.
Buck wished he could wake back up in his coma dream but instead he said “promise?”.
Eddie smiled “promise”.
It had been two weeks before Buck was finally discharged from the hospital. All the tests they could possibly do had been done. He was ordered another 3 weeks of rest before more tests would confirm his clearance for duty. Eddie and Maddie were there to take him back to the loft, because of course they were.
Buck never expected his parents to stick around too long anyways. They didn’t the last time. 2 therapy sessions without taking any responsibility for how the treated Buck and they threw in the towel. Buck let it go. Like he always did. The nagging feeling that he will always be blamed for Daniel’s death sticks with him, but he’s learnt to put that into a box and bury it in the far corner of his brain. His parents came to the hospital once after he woke up, they had the small talk they usually do. His mum made her usual comments about his reckless choices before they both said they had to get back to Hershey for an event they just couldn’t miss. Buck understood. Why would they want to stay for a kid they don’t love. He’s accepted it now. Not being able to save their son was something they would never forgive him for. Which is why he came to the realisation that he cannot be in love with Eddie. It’s not that his feelings were gone, they were very much still there. But he couldn’t risk losing Eddie, and chasing people away was Buck’s superpower. So, he decided to bury his feelings for Eddie in another box far away in his head.
Maddie restocked his fridge and put lunch in the oven for him and Eddie. She kissed him on the forehead, apologised that she had a shift she couldn’t get out of. He just nodded and she hesitated for a second before letting go of Buck and turning to leave. He knew Maddie and Eddie were having their own conversations about watching him, whether it was out loud or through their side way glances he didn’t really care.
After the door shut, Eddie draped another blanket over Buck. “Okay all set, you need anything?”
Buck just shook his head. Eddie hated how quiet Buck has been the last couple weeks. He doesn’t want to push but he can’t stand how hurt he looks. Eddie knows it’s because of his parents. God how he hated the Buckley’s’. They always had a way of making Buck feel insecure and less than. He remembers Buck saying he deserved their treatment after he found out he ‘killed’ Daniel. It took both Eddie and Bobby to explain to Buck that it wasn’t his fault and then another two weeks of therapy with Copeland before he was able to deal with what his parents did. Then they ditched him with therapy. Now here Buck was recovering from being struck by literal lightening and his parents didn’t even stick around to care for him.
Eddie sits next to Buck, puts his hand on Buck’s arm softly and caresses until Buck looks at him. Buck smiles dopily at Eddie. Buck wishes with all his heart he could have the life he dreamt with Eddie. “I love you” the words hung heavy as the world froze around them.
Buck’s hearing became muffled and all he could make out was his increasing heart rate. His vision blurred and he felt his hands shaking. Where was Eddie. He was just here.
“-uck” the voice broke through he tried to find it, but he couldn’t breathe. He was drowning. He was back in the tsunami. Where is Chris.
He felt a hard grip around his hand he felt it moved to what felt like material “cariño” Eddie? Eddie. That was definitely Eddie. Where was he. “Breathe - me Ev-. You can do -. Feel my heart - follow - breathing okay” Buck closed his eyes tightly focusing only on Eddie’s voice.
“That’s it baby. That’s it, just breathe”.
His senses slowly came back to him and he could hear his own heavy breathing. He could feel Eddie’s hand rubbing up and down on the back of his neck. He can feel Eddie’s heartbeat under his palm. Eddie continues whispering encouragements to him, pleading him to just keep breathing.
“You with me?”
Buck nodded but kept his eyes shut and his focus on breathing.
After about a minute that felt like years Buck cleared his throat and opened his eyes. He saw Eddie’s face etched with deep worry. “Sorry” he rasped.
Eddie shook his head slightly to wave him off “don’t apologise. Just focus on your breathing okay”
Another minute passed by in silence and Buck could feel the awkward tension set in. Eddie let Bucks hand go and placed it down between them. Buck wanted to wrap himself around Eddie again. He wanted to feel as close as he did in his dream. But he can’t do it. Not to Eddie. He won’t lose him.
“I didn’t mean to… erm…” Eddie said.
Buck nodded. Of course, he didn’t mean it.
Eddie shook his head like he saw Buck’s thoughts. “No … I mean” he breathed out slowly gathering his thoughts. He sat up straight preparing himself and Buck watched him terrified of the words he’s preparing to say “I erm I had a whole speech ready” he says with a small chuckle to himself. “It was great, and my bathroom mirror agreed. But I wanted to wait until it was the right time. Obviously, this wasn’t it. I wanted you to be in a better place physically and mentally and tell you how unbelievably in love with you I am. How those 3 minutes and 17 seconds were the worst minutes of my entire life. I felt like I lost a piece of me thinking you were gone and I didn’t even feel that for Shannon. And I realised seeing Chris talk to you while you were in the coma how much I love you. I was baffled I didn’t realise it sooner. I mean I don’t like being around anyone besides you and no one is as good with Chris as you are.”
They keep their eye contact as Buck processes his words “I didn’t want to just blurt it out because… well because you deserve better than that. But the last couple weeks you’ve not been yourself and I just wanted to tell you I love you. You don’t have to say it back or feel the same. We’ll still be friends if that’s what you want. But I love you and you should know.”
Eddie exhales like the weight on his shoulders have lightened with the confession but eyes are still filled with anxiety. “I didn’t mean to trigger a panic attack sorry” he laughs a self-deprecating laugh “should have waited until you had napped at least”
Buck smiles “sorry I just I didn’t expect it.” Eddie nodded but didn’t say anything. “I erm you know I said I had a dream while I was in my coma.” Eddie nodded again “You and Chris were there.”
“Yeah?”
Buck nodded and cleared his throat. “We were together. Like a family the three of us. I didn’t want to wake up. I didn’t want to leave it because well it was everything, I ever dreamed of having. And I never realised how much I loved you until I woke up and didn’t have you as mine anymore. But I thought… well I thought it wouldn’t be reciprocated.”
“At first, I was heartbroken because I felt like I lost you and him. Lost you in a way I could never have in real life. Then I realised it’s good that we’re not together. Because anyone I ever love leaves me. I mean even my parents can’t stick around. So, I figured it would be the best thing to do, no matter how much it killed me. To bury my feelings for you because I can’t risk losing you” he stood up making space between him and Eddie “which is why you can’t love me. You can’t Eddie you just can’t” he began pacing.
Eddie sat there dumbfounded “Buck-“
“No” Buck interrupted “you don’t understand everyone. Everyone I love leaves me. Maddie, Abby, Ali, Taylor, God even Taylor. Tommy. All of them. It’s me, I’m the issue. And I love you and I can’t, I can’t risk losing you Ed’s. It would break me” he sobs as he paces.
“Buck” Eddie says again standing up. He stops Bucks pacing placing one hand on his cheek.
“I can’t lose you Ed’s” he whispers again.
“You won’t cariño. You won’t”
Buck stares at him “I love you so much Eddie, the thought of not having you with me forever physically hurts me.”
Eddie smiles widely “come on” he says slowly guiding Buck to the couch “listen to me Evan, I love you. I know people have left you and you’ve been hurt before by those words before, but you didn’t deserve it. And it won’t be the same with us. We’re stronger than that. Even if for some unknown reason we don’t work out, you will always, always have me and Chris. Always okay cariño”
“I like when you call me that”.
Eddie chuckles fondly “yeah?“
“hmm” Buck says as he nuzzled himself into Eddie’s neck.
I had a dream
I got everything I wanted
But when I wake up, I see
You with me
And you say
As long as I’m here, no one can hurt you
Don’t wanna lie here, but you can learn to
If I could change the way that you see yourself
You wouldn’t wonder why you hear, they don’t deserve you.
Three months later*
"Bucky! Bucky wake up please" Chris whispered urgently.
Buck rubbed the tired out his eyes instantly looking to the side to where the tiny whisper came from.
"Hey bud, you okay?" he asked his voice heavy with sleep.
"I dropped a glass by accident, and dad always says not to try clean broken glass myself." he whispered.
Buck sat up and threw his legs over the side of the bed "that's right Chris, you did good waking me up. Why don't you go put on some TV and I’ll be right out to clean the glass and make us some breakfast okay?"
Chris nodded enthusiastically for 7am on a Sunday. Buck ruffled his hair giving him a kiss on the forehead before Chris made his way back out of the living room.
Buck laid back down leaning his head on his Eddie’s comfy ass "if I'm up babe so are you”.
"I was up from when he dropped the glass, just knew he'd go to you about it" Eddie mumbled his face still smushed in the pillow.
"Well Diaz, no waffles for you then"
"Oh yeah?" Eddie asked moving away and letting Buck's head fall on to the bed.
"Hey!" Buck whined.
Eddie stared down at Buck soaking in the gorgeous man lying in front of him. Buck frowned “what?" he asked at Eddies stare.
Eddie just leaned down and gave him a passionate kiss, letting his tongue part Bucks lips and devour him. Buck moaned into his mouth "Eds" he breathed breaking them apart.
"Good morning" Eddie whispered laying another kiss on Bucks nose then forehead.
Buck chuckled softly “I love you” he whispered staring at Eddie's gorgeous kiss swollen lips
Eddie crashed their lips back together mapping out the inside of his mouth and pulling another moan out of Buck. When this kiss broke apart Buck was breathing heavily and this time he stared at Eddies seeing nothing but lust. “Uh uh, don’t look at me like that.” he said trying to gain composure.
“Like what” Eddie whispered as he kissed Buck’s sweet spot under his ear.
Buck squirmed out from under him “come on, don't tempt me. Chris could walk in any second" Buck said as he bounced off the bed getting away from Eddie as quickly as possible.
"you owe me Buckley" Eddie said loudly as Buck disappeared behind the bathroom door.
Buck freshened up first and made his way to the kitchen. He cleaned up the glass and disposed of it before calling Chris to come be his sous chef. "Make sure to wear some shoes, just in case i missed any pieces bud" he said as he laid out the ingredients for waffles.
Eddie walked into the kitchen not longer after to hear Chris explain in detail about the creatures he saw in his dream. Buck, unsurprisingly, was completely engrossed and had his own facts about mythical creatures to add into it.
Buck noticed Eddie standing at the door just smiling at them. He gave Eddie a soft smile "mind making the coffee Eds? I know how much you enjoy using the Hildy machine"
Chris barked out a laugh as he mixed the batter with purpose.
"Ha ha, so funny" Eddie huffed fondly as he made his way to the coffee machine.
Buck stared at them in front of them watching Chris make the waffles and Eddie make the coffee and he couldn't help but overwhelmed with happiness. The happiness he dreamt of.
"Hey you okay?" Eddie asked wrapping his arms around the back of Buck.
Buck hummed in response. “I got everything I wanted”.
