Chapter Text
"You'll love it here, Ms Faery, trust me." the wizard smiling down at the fae had spoke.
Trust him, he said, and yet the girl had just met her new principal hours ago. But all Maleficent did was nod and give a small fake smile, which was what she had been doing since she got to the school. If she was asked, Merlin Academy..seemed like something, it was a unique looking, dorms, classes, the basic, but she had never experienced anything like it, being she lived in the moors and never went to school. But her thoughts were interrupted by Merlin, making it known that they had arrived at the front of her dorm room. Maleficent took a moment, and one thing she noticed was the gold numbers that said "508" at the top of her door, another dumb thing she had to memorize.
“Well, I’ll let you settle in, and when your done, you can head to the assembly in the auditorium.” Merlin informed, giving her a nod before walking off.
Maleficent had opened the door and walked into the new space, gazing around the place she would now be staying in. She was already staring to miss her home. Even though the area had looked exactly how she liked it, personalized and all, she still longed have some comfort being she was going to be here for a while. She still minded the look on her mother’s face, like she didn’t even care her daughter was heading to a new setting, practically moving away just for education.
She decided to stop thinking too hard, looking on the bright side, her father used to say, and began to settle in. It was about time she headed down to the hall, following the directions from the paper Merlin had given to her earlier.
Crossing through a few mythical looking corridors and hallways, she finally reached down a few stairs, leading to the doors of the arena, and when she pushed them open, she perceived the loud, blaring conversations of other people in the room.
Maleficent had let in another sigh in annoyance, stepping down the stairs, observing the students beginning filling up the seats, she herself was trying to find seating.
It took her a while, but she had finally found a seat and rested somewhere in the third row. Maleficent hadn’t really payed attention to who she was sitting next to, fidgeting with the sheet still in her hand, but was alert. When was this assembly starting?
She was rereading the paper for about the 3rd time, until someone tapped her shoulder and spoke.
“I like your necklace.”
Maleficent had looked up from the paper and and turned to her left to look at the speaker. It was a sandy-brown haired boy, with distinctive freckles, who was smiling friendly at Maleficent.
”I—oh, thank you,” Maleficent said, glancing down at the black gemstone necklet she was wearing.
“I’m Morgie—Le Fay, you?” The boy introduced, waiting for a reply. He seemed nice, and this was the first person who engaged a conversation without informing her about things she didn’t care about, despite the fact she’d been nodding along and listening to Merlin briefing her. So, she decided to give chatting a shot.
“Maleficent, Faery.” Ugh, why did she just reveal her last name randomly? Well, he had done it first.
“Nice name, so you’re a fae aren’t you?” Morgie asked curiously. Surely he could tell by her last name? But Maleficent simply nodded, Morgie giving a nod back.
The two had talked for a bit, sharing some little information, they got to know one another; up until the lights in the theater had dimmed a little, this gathering maybe starting soon.
“Gods, when is this going to begin?” Maleficent mumbled expectantly, she’d been sitting here for what felt like hours.
”Mhm,” Morgie said in agreement. “Speaking of gods, did you know there’s one going here?”
Maleficent turned to blink at Morgie. Was he being serious? A god, at school? It didn’t make sense to her, aswell as why she seemed to care, but interest got to her, so she asked Morgie in a pretty much skeptical manner.
“A god, seriously? Have you seen them?”
“Mhm, his name’s Hades.. Aidoneus, he’s god of the Underworld.” Morgie enlightened.
Maleficent had paused. She’d heard of the Underworld god before, yet never learned his actual name. As a child, her mother had mentioned after her fathers passing that his soul was with him, somewhere in the land for the dead, and yes, she used to be scared of the place especially when she would also say the god would take her soul next, if she were to ever die.
“Oh, that’s him now.” Morgie pointed to the entrance atop, Maleficent turning to look in sync.
He was walking down the steps, hands in his pockets, the look on his face showed he didn’t want to even be at the school. He looked..rather interesting, blue flames for hair, black leather clothing, maybe he really did look like ‘God of The Underworld’.
Maleficent was studying Hades long enough for him to meet eyes with her, giving her the same surprised look she first had, leading to the fae quickly bringing her attention back down onto the paper, as she heard Hades taking a seat right behind her, while he and Morgie had gaven eachother acknowledgment, she could almost feel Hades staring at her from behind; and when she was about to speak, Merlin’s voice was heard, and the convention finally began. Maleficent was to say the least, relieved.
