Summary
At Shiz, Galinda asks Elphaba to cast a bonding spell with her so they'll never be apart. They misunderstand the ancient spell and realize too late that it doesn't enhance emotional ties, but allows them to feel every intense or intentional physical sensation the other experiences. (There's no doubt it's a spell for lovers and not best friends.) To make matters worse, the spell is irreversible. Though they spend decades separated, thanks to the spell, they're never apart.
