Summary
“When he was a child, Sam loved the summer. These days, all it does is suffocate. Today he sits on his break on this stoop of the new Piggly Wiggly and wishes he had a cigarette. He’s never seen the appeal of smoking. Frederick took it up a few years ago and Sam thinks it smells bad and it tastes gross and it makes his mouth too dry. Right now though, he thinks he might get it. It would complete his look for one thing. And it makes him think of Frederick. He takes a swig of his coca-cola instead."
