July 25th 1995 St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries.
Healer Eustace Burke was in his office and he was looking at the file of his next patient and he was already wishing he never got assigned this patient.
When Healer Burke found out that he was going to be doing an assessment on Ronald Weasley he had asked nearly every Healer if they would take him instead but he got told no and after getting told by his boss that they don't get to pick and choose who they treat Healer Burke agreed to take the case.
The file on Ron Weasley is very thick and as Healer Burke looks through a few things are already making him question the boy's sanity.
Healer Burke is taken out of his thoughts when he hears someone knocking on his office door.
Healer Augustus Pye walks in and Healer Burke doesn't like the look on the man's face.
“I take it Mr Weasley is here” Healer Burke says.
“Yes and he hasn't stopped running his mouth” Healer Pye says.
“OK. Send him in” Healer Burke says.
Healer Pye leaves and a few moments later he is back and he is leading Ron Weasley into the room and behind Ron are 2 Aurors that have clearly had enough of Ron's attitude.
“I'm sorry but you two can't be in here as this session is just between me and Mr Weasley” Healer Burke says.
“I'm sorry but we need to stay with Mr Weasley” Kingsley Shacklebolt says.
“Well since this appointment is between me and Mr Weasley and I'm the one who is assessing his mental state what I say goes. So wait outside” Healer Burke says.
Kingsley Shacklebolt and John Dawlish look at each other and they both nod and they go and wait outside.
Healer Burke takes a seat in front of Ron and he looks at the 15 year old boy and he sees that Ron doesn't want to be here and he has a bored expression on his face.
“Let me make things clear Mr Weasley you are here because of what you have done to Mr Potter and you are facing some serious charges for attacking him so if I were you I would wipe that look of your face” Healer Burke says.
Ron looks at the healer and he just grins and Healer Burke is right about the boy's mental state of mind as the grin is quite uncomfortable.
“Don't know why everyone cares about stupid Harry Potter” Ron says and the venom in his voice shows.
“Mr Weasley you attacked Mr Potter when his back was turned and you have also been physically bullying him. Do you not see anything wrong with that?” Healer Burke asks.
“So. I was just showing him how not to be a stupid freak” Ron says.
Healer Burke looks at Ron and it's clear that he doesn't see anything wrong with what he did.
Healer Burke gets up and goes to the door and opens it and tells both Kingsley Shacklebolt and John Dawlish that they can take Ron back to Azkaban and both men escort Ron out of the office and lead him to the floo that takes them back to Azkaban.
Healer Burke takes a seat and he takes out some parchment and ink and picks up a feather and starts to write his report and even though he hadn't spent that much time with Ron Weasley, Healer Burke is happy with the decision he has made.
20 minutes later Healer Burke finished the report and he has put a lot into the report and has made sure to emphasise what Ron's attitude and state of mind is like.
Healer Burke gets up and walk over to the door and opens it and leaves and he gets to his bosses office and knocks on the door and his boss tells him to enter and healer Burke enters and walks to the man's desk and he hands him his report and tells him he didn't spend much time with Ron but the time he did spend with him only confirmed that the boy is a danger to people and his mental state is very concerning.
Healer Burke's boss looks at the report and he sees what Burke means as he himself looked at Ron's file before he assigned Healer Burke to the case and it's clear the 15 year old thinks he did nothing wrong.
Hippocrates Smethwyck puts the file down and gets up and goes and tells his secretary to get in touch with Amelia Bones immediately and his secretary says she will do that right away.
Hippocrates Smethwyck comes back into his office and takes a seat again.
“Is there any way Mr Weasley will feel remorse given any more sessions?” Healer Smethwyck asks Healer Burke.
Healer Burke takes a few minutes to think and he looks at every scenario possible.
“No, I don't believe he will. I also believe that he feels that he hasn't done anything wrong and he is not capable of feeling remorse” Healer Burke says.
Before Healer Smethwyck can ask any more questions there is a knock at his door and his secretary walks in and informs him that Amelia Bones is waiting outside for him.
Healer Smethwyck tells his secretary to escort Amelia Bones in and thanks her for doing a job well done.
Amelia Bones comes into the office and she is accompanied by John Dawlish.
“Madam Bones thank you for coming so quickly” Healer Smethwyck says.
“You're welcome. I take it you have finished your assessment on Mr Weasley?” Amelia Bones asks.
“I have and I'm confident in my assessment and I stick by the report” Healer Burke says.
Healer Smethwyck hands the report to Amelia and she takes a look and as she is reading she sees why she was called so urgently as it's clear that the trial of Ronald Weasley is going to be a messy one.
“Are you sure that you can't do anything more to help Mr Weasley understand what he has done and why he needs to face up to the consequences of his actions?” Auror Dawlish asks.
“Mr Weasley believes he has done nothing wrong and he also believes he had to teach Mr Potter how not to be a freak as they were his words also when he first entered my office his facial expressions showed he was bored and did not want to he in my office and when I asked you and your colleague to leave the way Mr Weasley looked at me was quite uncomfortable so I don't think any more sessions with him would help as he would only pretend to get better and once he was cleared then I believe he would hurt Mr Potter again” Healer Burke says.
“Thank you for your honesty about your assessment Healer Burke” Amelia Bones says.
“You're welcome. If you'll excuse me I have other patients to see” Healer Burke says and he leaves the office.
Amelia Bones and John Dawlish leave a few minutes later and they head back to the ministry.
Department of Magical Law Enforcement Office.
Amelia Bones steps into her office and she takes a seat and she is already getting a headache and the day is not even over with.
“Do I inform Mr Fudge?” Dawlish asks.
“No, I'll be doing that. I want you and Kingsley Shacklebolt to write up your reports and I want them in the next ten minutes” Amelia says.
“We will get straight on that” Dawlish says and he leaves the office.
Amelia is glad that her team does what she tells them and they don't stand around and wait to be told to do certain things but they also tell her that they may have different ways of approaching a case and Amelia hears their ideas and then makes the decision on how best to proceed.
When Amelia found out what happening to Harry a few months ago she was angry and she couldn't believe that Dumbledore never checked on him and when she found out that Minerva McGonagall told him what the muggles were like and he still chose to place Harry with them that showed her that Dumbledore never listens to anyone so she made sure to get some aurors to look into other cases where an abused child has been dismissed and boy did they find a lot of names.
10 minutes later Dawlish walks back into Amelia's office and he hands her the reports done by himself and Shacklebolt and she takes them and looks at them and tells him to leave.
Amelia goes over to her floo and puts the powder in and calls out Fudge's name and the man's head appears.
“Cornelius, I need you to step through” Amelia says.
Fudge steps through and he takes a seat and Amelia hands him the report done by the healer and she also hands him both Dawlish and Shacklebolt’s reports as well.
Fudge finished reading the reports 20 minutes later and he looked at Amelia.
“Cancel the trial” Fudge says.
“Cornelius, are you insane?” Amelia asks.
“I'm sorry but looking at these reports it's clear that Mr Weasley doesn't feel any remorse” Fudge says.
“And you think cancelling the trial is the right thing to do” Amelia says.
“I don't know what else I can think of,” Fudge says.
“Cornelius I understand how hard this is, believe me I do but if we do not go ahead with the trial not only will we face backlash from the public but you bet the Malfoy's will have us in court” Amelia says.
“So it's a catch 22 basically is what you're saying” Fudge says.
“How about we speak to the Malfoy's and the Wesley’s and see if we can come to some sort of deal” Amelia says.
“That's a good idea but if they Malfoy's reject the deal?” Fudge asks.
“Then we go ahead with the trial,” Amelia says.
Fudge was afraid Amelia would say that but he knows that Harry deserves justice.
Amelia watched as Fudge left her office and she knew that she had to tell the Malfoy's what was happening as they needed to prepare themselves.
Amelia goes towards the floo and she puts the powder in and calls out Malfoy manor.
Lucius' head appears and he looks confused.
“Lucius I'm sorry to disturb you but I have to speak to you urgently” Amelia says.
“Do I need to get Narcissa and do we need to both step through?” Lucius asks.
"I'll step through to you guys and yes you had better get Narcissa and Harry as well” Amelia says.
Lucius moves out of the way and Amelia steps into the fireplace and she disappears in a green flame.
Amelia steps out at the other end and she is in Lucius' office
“Thank you for letting me step through,” Amelia says.
“That's fine. I'll go and get Narcissa and Harry” Lucius says.
Lucius leaves his office and he heads to the living room and he opens the door and goes inside and sees both his sons playing a board game.
Narcissa is reading one of Harry's books that he has gotten her into.
“Draco I need you to go to your room please as I need to speak to your brother and mother” Lucius says.
Draco looks confused and so does Harry.
“Lucius, what's going on?” Narcissa asks.
“Amelia Bones is in my office and she wants to speak to us and Harry,” Lucius says.
“Is this about Ron and his upcoming trial?” Harry asks.
“I have a feeling it is,” Lucius says.
“OK, I'll see her,” Harry says.
“Then I'm coming,” Draco says.
“Draco you are going to go to your room and if Harry wishes to tell you what's happened then he can” Narcissa says.
Draco groans and does as his mother tells him but he is not happy.
Harry,Lucius and Narcissa head towards Lucius’ office and they enter.
Amelia smiles at Harry and she is glad that the boy is happy and he has found a loving family.
“I'm glad you are doing better, Harry,” Amelia says.
“Thank you Madam Bones,” Harry says.
“Your welcome” Amelia says.
“What is it you wish to talk to us about Amelia?” Narcissa says.
“It's regarding the trial of Ronald Weasley,” Amelia says.
“What about it?” Harry asks.
“Harry before I came here I was in a meeting with Cornelius as we just received the report from the healer that treated Mr Weasley and after speaking to him things became clear and Cornelius wanted to cancel the trial” Amelia says.
“He what!. There is no way this trial is getting cancelled as my son will get the justice he is owed” Lucius says.
“I told him that we couldn't as the public and your family would be outraged. So we have decided to come up with a deal instead and we are offering it to the Weasleys but it's down to your family if the deal is put in place” Amelia says.
Narcissa looks at her husband and then they look at Harry and it has taken a few month's to get to the place they are at with Harry but it is ultimately Harry's choice.
“What is the deal?” Harry asks.
“We are going to strip Mr Weasley of his magic and place him in the muggle world but we are also going to erase all evidence that he knows magic as he can't be trusted not to break the law and tell people that he is a wizard” Amelia says.
“Who will Mr Weasley stay with in the muggle world?” Narcissa asks.
“I understand that Molly Weasley has a second cousin who is a muggle or possibly a Squib so we plan on getting in touch with him,” Amelia says.
“So Ron doesn't face any consequences for what he did to me as you are erasing his memory so he won't remember me or what he did to me so what's the point in asking us as you might as well as do it” Harry says.
Narcissa looks at her son and she sees the anger and she also sees that he has been let down again.
“I'm sorry Madam Bones I didn't mean to speak to you in that tone” Harry says.
“No it's fine and you're right Mr Weasley does deserve to remember what he did to you” Amelia says.
“Harry, whatever decision you make we support you and you do not need to feel guilty” Lucius says.
Harry smiles at his dad and he knows that he has a great support system.
“I'm declining the deal” Harry says.
“That's fine. I'll let you know when the court date is set” Amelia says.
“Thank you,” Lucius says.
Harry asks to leave and both his parents allow it and Harry waves goodbye to Amelia and he leaves the room.
Amelia tells both Lucius and Narcissa that she needs to head back to the ministry and she bids them goodbye and leaves.
Narcissa and Lucius know that Harry had every right to decline that deal and it was a terrible deal to begin with and they both would have told Amelia the same so they are glad their son is no longer letting people walk all over him.
Narcissa leaves Lucius to get on with his work and she goes and starts on her plans for her son's 15th birthday that is in 6 days and she is going to make it the best one for him.
