A stolen sword leads to Confrontation it seems

Summary:

Blueberry Milk got hurt.
The Beast didn't like that, it needed its other to be safe.

A weapon couldn't hurt as a gift, could it?

Maybe Blueberry Milk would keep it this time.

Notes:

Chapter Text

It’d been close to a month since the Beast got more comfortable around the Fount of Knowledge. Ever since Blueberry Milk accepted the strange feather and has been scrambling to return all of the stolen artifacts that were in his possession.

Those stolen artifacts never stopped. Continued to increase. Sometimes Blueberry Milk found himself ranting and raving to the Beast who was waiting for him in HIS bed.

(“I need to figure out who’s doing this.” Chirp. “No! I can’t keep them!” Chirp. “What- Nor can I study them without permission. You know these things!”)

The stolen artifacts upgraded as well.

It began after a day where He and the Beast were traveling together. Blueberry Milk was curious about Faerie history. Initially he would’ve gone alone but the Beast was sulking (Sulking!) at the mere thought of not being around Blueberry. The cookie tried to not let the Beast come. He really did.

But the sad wing shuffles that even included Its ear wings made the cookie cave. It acted like a kicked cakehound. It had taken barely 10 minutes for the Beast to get what it had wanted. He couldn't deny It when It decided to be sad and pathetic like that. He's always been weak whenever It decided to move its ear wings.

Thus began their journey to the Faerie forest. The Beast insisting on being right behind Blueberry Milk, even in public when the Fount of Knowledge announced he’d be journeying to the Faerie forest for a short expedition. It was an odd announcement. No one cried for the Fount to stay. Some of them even shakily gave their wishes for the journey ahead. Blueberry Milk never noticed the Beast had spread its body wings high.

Placing a claim on him, Daring any cookie to challenge them both.

He felt good about leaving because of no one arguing. Blueberry Milk didn’t take a carriage this time either, the Beast itself demanded to carry him like he was a noble woman unable to even touch the ground. In the midst of the trip, they were both attacked. Bounty Hunters after the Beast’s head.

Of course, Blueberry Milk had no worries about the beast’s safety. After all, there was a reason no monsters had approached them on their trip. But his lax attitude gave him a singular scratch on the wrist when the bounty hunters fled.

He tried to hide it, but unfortunately forgot that the Beast had a heightened sense of smell. It could tell immediately. It took Blueberry’s scratched wrist in hand and whined.

(“I'm fine! It’s just a small scratch!” Whine. Growl. “What? No. You’re not allowed to eat them just because they hurt me.”)

The Beast had licked the wound sealed at the time. Blueberry Milk refused to acknowledge how his face had warmed at the act. But he would acknowledge the fact that the Beast became more protective. Before, Blueberry could get out of Its arms to check out some plant life to bring back for botanists but this time…

The Beast wouldn’t let him.

They had gotten to the Faerie Forest just fine after that singular moment of fighting. Blueberry washed the illusion of a normal, albeit slightly taller cookie, onto the Beast. The Beast never left his side.

Not even in front of Elder Faerie cookie, who looked vaguely uncomfortable seeing it there. Both of them knew what the so-called normal cookie by Blueberry Milk’s side was. The Avatar of Destiny. The creature born to make sure the world never strayed from what the Witches demanded of it. Or so the legends said. No cookie, not even the five heroes, were alive when it was made. Nor had anyone seen it until Blueberry Milk befriended it through... Interesting means.

He had ignored the way that the Beast seemed to protect him from Elder Faerie cookie. Or the way Elder Faerie cookie paled upon seeing the curious feather in his hair.

But the trip had gone perfectly. He had done all the research he needed and was whisked out of the Faerie Forest before he could've even thought to do anything else there.

The aftermath had not. He woke up to exactly 5 different weapon artifacts leaning on his wall. A bow that could never miss, A spear that would put anyone who touched its blade to sleep. A sword that burned like the sun, A dagger that seemed to command the shadows itself, And a mace. A mace that pulled its power from the stars.

Blueberry Milk was horrified. He was a mage, not a warrior like Charred Spice or Shining Salt!

It was an awkward conversation when he finally got a hold of Shining Salt to come over and retrieve the stolen weapons. He didn’t know how they got into his room, and they didn’t know how they got out of their respective treasuries.

The weapons stopped for a day or two. Normal artifact gifts. It almost made Blueberry Milk happy just to return those.
Then a new one appeared. A singular sword. Once that was returned, a new weapon showed up. No matter how many times he did, a weapon that wasn’t for magecraft kept showing up.

Even defensive artifacts showed up as well. Things to make the user invincible save for a certain part of their body. Immunity to all things physical. Immunity to mental manipulation. Artifacts like that on top of the sealed ones, the daily life ones or the weapons.

Blueberry Milk was going insane. That had to be the explanation. He was just magically making them all show up in his bedroom or on his desk when he slept. Surely. Surely that had to be it.

Surely that had to be the reason why he could never find the unknown thief, never sense the artifacts until he saw them.

It was a cloudy day outside. The academia had just closed its doors for the day, letting Blueberry Milk hide away in his office to continue writing down findings about the Beast. Today’s notes were about the fact the Beast did not know how to preen its wings. Blueberry Milk, thank Vibrant Sugar, knew how to.

It had taken him exactly 12 hours to go through each and every set of wings. The three on the Beast's body, the ones on its ankles and the two on its head. Each feather had some form of magic in it. Ones he recognized as either White Moon magic, Black Moon magic, or even Abyssal.

He was happily writing down his findings on the properties of Its wings before something caught his attention.
The unmistakable scent of Spice.

Blueberry Milk stopped writing. Confusion coming to him quickly on why Charred Spice would even come to his kingdom. Much less the academia without warning.

He barely had time to stand up from his desk before the door was shattered, letting in Charred Spice and his little nutmeg tiger attendant.

“ YOU! ” Blueberry flinched at the anger. Why was his friend angry?

“My friend! What brings you here, what's the matter?” Whilst Blueberry Milk may be happy to see Charred Spice.. Something was wrong and just in case… He prepared a protection spell.

“How dare you steal from the herald of change!” Nutmeg Tiger spoke up, growling and ready to pounce.
Blueberry froze. At least he knew now that he wasn’t going insane. Not even unconsciously would he be foolish enough to steal from Charred Spice.

“My friend I promise I didn’t-”

He didn’t even need to finish his sentence. It was finished for him with an explosion within the courtyard. It rattled the walls and made a few books fall from their shelves. Even Nutmeg Tiger cookie lost balance for a second.

Blueberry Milk didn’t wait. He ran out to the courtyard. He knew only one creature was left in the academia waiting for him to go home. Only one creature who could possibly have Charred Spice’s stolen item.

He could hear the two following behind him, Nutmeg Tiger demanding he wait but Charred Spice was silently following. Silence from him was never good but Blueberry Milk had different things, or creatures, to worry about.

They got to the courtyard in record time to see a lone, seemingly normal cookie there. Blonde hair that faded into brown, a blindfold over their eyes wearing the academia outfit. What made them stand out was It wielding a sword that Blueberry Milk knew belonged to Charred Spice. It was taller than the cookie itself yet the cookie wielded it like it was a toy.

In front of it was supposed to be target practice. But all of those had been blown apart by the might of the sword in Its hand.

“YOU!” Blueberry Milk yelled. The cookie froze and looked over. Even with the blindfold on, and emotionless look, He knew it was scared and shocked. Blueberry Milk wiped the illusion off of the Beast, letting it return to actual size. Being slightly taller than Charred Spice, the sword looked like a normal one in its hand.

“DROP IT!” He got to the Beast, glaring and crossing his arms. He could not believe this. Out of all the things the Beast has done, this was by far the worst.
And that's excluding allowing a dragon into the kingdom borders.

The Beast fell to its knees, looking down with the sword at Its side. A whine came from it. He could almost imagine the words. Asking what it did wrong. Both of them knew that It knew. Blueberry Milk had no patience for its kicked cakehound act today.

“Give. It. Back.”

“!”
“Na?! Fe.. Fe Yui Erilim..?”

Blueberry Milk had no idea what that meant but he just simply pointed at Charred Spice, who had at one point gotten behind him. Too focused on the misbehaving Beast in front of him. There was a second as the Beast looked at Charred Spice, then Blueberry Milk. Almost contemplating. Every moment made Blueberry Milk more and more angry.

The Beast flared its wings. As if it had any reason to be angry.
“Vani!” It yelled. (Blueberry Milk made note that it never yelled.) “Vani, Fe Erilim Saki?!”

He just pointed harder. The Beast got more and more agitated. It did not react visibly but Blueberry Milk knew it was angry. For what reason? He didn't know. But It returned the sword with mirth. Almost shoving it into Charred Spice's arms.

“Thank you.” Blueberry Milk sighed, going back to crossing his arms, then froze. The Beast was gone. A few feathers floating down the only indication that It had flown off.

He looked up to the sky, only to see a blur of white and black disappearing behind the Spire of Knowledge. Blueberry Milk had no idea if it went back to Its own room to sulk or had flown away somewhere else.

He stood there, simply watching where he saw it last before turning to face Charred Spice. The moment he saw the look on his face was the moment he remembered one vital piece of information past his rage.

He never actually told the others that he had the Avatar of Destiny within his kingdom walls, Or that he had befriended it.

“We’re calling a meeting.” Is all Charred Spice said before walking away with his sword and Nutmeg Tiger.
Blueberry Milk was fucked .
