I Can’t Feel my Leg

“Very good my sons. That is enough meditation for the day.”

Four sighs of relief came out of his young sons as they were finally allowed to move around.

“Finally!” Raphael said as he jumped up, only to immediately cringe and glance at Splinter. Splinter decided to let it slide for the moment.

Donatello flopped backwards, splaying all his limbs out. “It did seem like a long time,” he commented.

Leonardo stood and stretched, before looking to Splinter. “Can we go out in the sewers to play?” he asked. “I wanna move around.”

Splinter considered it. “As long as you stay close and stay aware, then yes, you may.”

Little faces split with grins and three of his four sons turned to go, only to stop when they realized Michelangelo wasn’t coming with them.

“Mikey?” Leonardo asked. “You coming?”

Michelangelo hadn’t moved, staring down at his legs and poking them. He looked back up at this brothers with wide eyes. “I can’t feel my leg.”

“What?” Leonardo asked.

Michelangelo flopped over on his side dramatically. “My leg! I can’t feel it! I meditated all the feeling away! I’ll never be able to play again!”

Raphael rolled his eyes, and Donatello came to Michelangelo’s side, starting to rub his younger brother’s leg. “You goof. It just fell asleep, you just need to move it around to get the blood flowing in it again.”

Leonardo looked at Raphael. “Come on. The faster we wake his leg up, the faster he stops whining.”

The two worked to support Michelangelo, and the set of boys set off, Michelangelo complaining the whole way.

Splinter couldn’t help but smile, glad his sons were willing to look after each other.
