Chapter Text
The warm air blew all throughout the kingdom, giving everyone a nice little break from the increasingly warmer weather. It was spring time in Crispia, which meant plants were regrowing, rainfall would be heavier…. And Wind Archer Cookie was back to guarding the forest.
Fire Spirit Cookie chuckled to himself as he traversed the lush trees, careful not to burn any down with his flamin’ hot hair. Last time he did that, Wind Archer got really upset… The red-hot cookie stumbled his way through the diverse flora, careful not to trip on any roots, or small animals. How could anyone really like this place enough to protect it…
It wasn’t until he got to a clearing that he could comfortably move around and survey his surroundings. Everything was really… green. There’s no way he could find Wind Archer like this. Time to keep moving, he supposed..
It took for what felt like days to finally get a semblance of other cookie life in these woods. Fire Spirit found a discarded arrow, a perfect clue! “He really gets into this stuff huh.. WIND ARCHER!! COME ON DUDE, WHERE ARE YOU?!”
Fire Spirit stomped his foot in frustration, not realizing that something was watching him… He heard a growl come from his right, and he immediately readied his staff. This wasn’t the first brawl he’s gotten into, and it sure won’t be the last!
But… if he were to activate his powers, he’d burn down this whole forest! Stuck in conflict, the armor-clad cookie braced himself for the worst, the cake hound now fully lunging at him at full force…
“VANQUISH THE DARKNESS!” Fire Spirit opened his eyes to see Wind Archer leap up from behind him, bow and arrow in hand. He looked so majestic… his eyes followed the bowman’s movement, watching as he defeated the cake hound with ease, before turning back to Fire Spirit.
“What on Earthbread are you doing over here? You know it’s not safe.” He pulled his scarf back up, putting his bows away in his quiver before sitting down on a nearby log. Fire Spirit could tell the archer had been fighting the so-called “darkness” all day from how spent he looked.
“Well, I just.. wanted to say hi, I guess.” “Well, hi. Are we done now?” “Come on, man. Be serious.” Fire Spirit carefully (as not to burn everything down) sat next to Wind Archer, staring down at his feet. Usually, Fire Spirit Cookie would say something cool, or witty, or anything. But when he’s near him… it’s a different story.
“You know, you should really be more careful out here. I don’t want to see you get hurt.” The burning hot elemental perked back up to the sound of Wind Archer speaking, his cheeks blushing. (Albeit a bit hard to tell considering his red dough.)
“I could say the same for you, these woods give me the creeps… I wish you would spend more time at the kingdom with me- and the others.. Trust me, I have my own little section in the kingdom, it’s so flamin’!” Fire Spirit looked over to see a seemingly unimpressed Wind Archer. It was a little hard to tell however, considering the scarf was usually covering up his face.
Well, if Wind Archer wasn’t gonna listen, Fire Spirit might as well just leave. He got up from their oak log and began to walk where he had came from (if he even remembered where), before being stopped in his tracks.
“Wait. Don’t leave. You’re right.. I’m sorry, Fire Spirit. I should be spending more time with you.” He turned around to see Wind Archer had gotten up, his scarf now no longer obstructing his face. They maintained eye contact for a couple seconds before Wind Archer spoke again, his face clearly flushed as well.
“The.. truth is.. I’ve uh. How do I say this.. I’ve been wanting to talk to you about something… important?” Wind Archer continued to stumble over his words as he let out a rambling monologue about his feelings. It was a bit amusing to Fire Spirit in all honesty, but his little dough heart beating out his chest was a way more intense feeling right now.
“And I was just wondering if.. you’d want to go out for lunch someday..?” The forest guardian closed his eyes shut, expecting an earthbread-shattering ‘no’ to come from Fire Spirit. But his worry quickly turned to excitement when he heard him speak again.
“Like… like a date? Yea.. yeah! We can go on a date, sure!” Fire Spirit brought Wind Archer into a tight embrace, a little shocked neither he or Wind Archer combusted into flames right now.
Despite neither of them knowing how the other felt, their shared feelings of euphoria weren’t lost on the other. Wind Archer held Fire Spirit’s hand, and guided them back on the bench to talk.
As they continued to talk about potentially starting a relationship together, Fire Spirit finally understood why Wind Archer liked the woods now. The peacefulness was actually quite nice for once.
