Work Text:
The early mornings like these kept most things at bay, the scorching New Mexico sun, azure skies, but definitely not Engineer.
With a sleep schedule on par with their team doctor, blueprint and pens spread across his workbench. Speaking of Medic, he think he might have to call up the resident physician. The blueprint made for the new invention he’s been tinkering with just didn’t look right, maybe it was something about the design? He wasn’t sure. In times like these he’d ask for Heavy and his expertise in weaponry for opinions, but he was probably sleeping like a log. So he went for the second best person, the doctor.
Quiet footsteps trudged across the base, he noticed Demo unceremoniously sprawled on the couch, unfinished scrumpy in his hand, hanging over the armrest. Well, a little side quest wouldn’t hurt. Prying the bottle out of his hand, Engie left to bring a blanket for the sleeping man, and draped it over him. “…Aye…I love ya man…” He mumbled. “I know ya do.” As he chuckled.
Knocking on the door with the cross symbol, he was surprised to hear Medic’s sleepy voice. “Ja?” “Hey doc, sorry if I might’ve interrupted yer sleep, but I need some ideas for mah’ blueprint.” “Ah, herr engineer, yes. Give me a moment bitte.” “Alright, meet cha’ at my workshop.”
Waiting for the Medic’s arrival, he sat on his chair spinning his pen and thinking about a new way to turn a Spy into gibs, he finally saw the man open the door, with a rather unique set of pajamas. “Alright, so let’s get started?” “Okay, so the problem here is that…”
Minutes turned into hours as him and medic started talking about their mutual hatred for a certain sneaky backstabber. Apparently, as the Medic had pointed it out, the blueprint’s design was a bit disproportionate. Tweaking the build a little, it looked way better.
”Ah, danke for the chat herr Engineer, but I think I will return to mein quarters.” “Okay, okay, you go catch up some sleep. G’night doc, or maybe g’morning.” Earning a chuckle from said doctor. “Both works, you too.”
”Also doc,”
“Ja?”
”That’s quite the outfit ya got.”
Looking down and realizing he was still wearing a certain Heavy Weapons Guy’s shirt, with nothing but his cotton briefs. He turned on his heel not before muttering a quick “Gut nacht herr Engineer!” As he dashed out.
