Summary
Nikolai's not rich. He's not powerful. He’s fifteen, tired, and stuck in a body that keeps betraying him. He never thought he’d own a human. Then he got sick, nearly died, and the government handed him one. The slave is quiet, compliant. He folds Nikolai’s clothes, reads his moods, and acts like being owned is the best thing that ever happened to him. It makes Nikolai feel sick, or powerful, or both.
The slave doesn’t have a name. He has a number, a file, and an assignment. Keep Nikolai alive. Bred for obedience, trained to serve, desperate to be perfect. Don’t speak unless spoken to. Don’t resist. Don’t want. But Nikolai isn’t what he expected. He’s moody, awkward, sometimes kind, sometimes cold. And worst of all, he treats him like he’s real.
Nikolai's condition forces them together. Every second of every day. Neither of them chose this. Neither of them knows what they’re doing.
But the law says one belongs to the other, and once that line is drawn, it gets harder and harder to erase.
