“Okay, and then we…”
Pin, for the life of her, couldn’t focus on Coiny’s words, no matter how hard she tried.
Her mind was a whirlwind of embarrassing thoughts, swirling around in her brain like a tornado.
The way her eyes locked onto him suggested she was paying attention to each and every word that came out of his mouth, but really, it was the exact opposite.
She wasn’t paying attention to Coiny’s speech, rather, she was paying attention to he himself.
She dazedly admired his confident appearance. She almost felt as though she had a contrast filter plastered over her eyes.Did he always stand out like that?Did he always look so radiant? Is she seeing things?
She couldn’t take her eyes off of him.
And her thoughts got more intrusive by the minute.
She had to be seeing things.Did he always look so pretty? That’s not what best friends say about each other, right?Maybe?
Her face started to darken, and slowly, but surely, she turned a deep shade of maroon as the thoughts continued to race in her head.
‘God, he’s pretty.I kind of wish we could be a little closer to each other.’
‘Urgh, if only I wasn’t such an idiot during BFDIA…maybe then we would’ve been dating by now.’
‘Curse my younger self…’
‘Wait, dating?Did I just think that?’
‘I sound like I’m drunk.’
‘Am I drunk?’
‘Am I going crazy?’
‘Do drunk people get these kind of thoughts?’
‘I’m not thinking clearly.’
‘I can’t with him around.’
‘God, that smile…’
‘I wish it was just us right now…no team8s, or whatever.’
‘Just need to be with him for FIVE MINUTES without being interrupted by something, like always.’
‘God, what am I even saying?’
‘What am I even thinking?’
‘WHY AM I SWEATING?’
Ohgodohgodohgodohgod-
She felt like an absolute mess.
Her plastic skin felt as though it were melting from the intense heat that emanated from her.
She wanted to look at something else, ANYTHING else, but her eyes only allowed her to gaze upon her greatest desire.
The ideas in her head made her feel sick. She couldn’t control these kind of pent up feelings, and she hated it.
She couldn’t think this way, no, not about her best friend! He’s a person, not a shiny new toy on the shelf! Not just another thing for her to chase after!
Then again, did these thoughts really suggest that she felt that way about him?
He wasn’t just another thing for her to chase after.Another unneeded obsession.
This was a different kind of pining.
He was one of a kind.
A guy who’d truly made life worth living.
And right now, in this moment, at least, he was the only thing that mattered to her.
“Pin, you good?”
Gaty lightly tapped her, bringing her out of…whatever the hell that was.She flinched slightly out of shock, but swiftly attempted to compose herself.
“YES.Just thinking about someone-SOMETHING.”
“Thinking about who?”she grinned a little, nudging Pin’s elbow.
“Nobody.”
“Then why were you staring like that?”
“Staring like what?”
“Staring at Coiny like he's the only thing in the room.”she whispered teasingly.
“Was not!”
“Was too!”
“Was NOT!”her stubbornness made Gaty giggle a little.
“Okay, then. What was the last thing he just said?”
…
“Uh…”she went completely silent.
The silence from her told Gaty everything she needed to know.
Pin grumbled frustratedly, and attempted to turn her attention to the dim lamp on the other side of the room.God, why did Gaty have to be so perceptive?
Or maybe she’s just obvious.
“You like hiim~”Gaty muttered quietly to her in a sing-song tone, as she embarrassedly turned her back to her.
Having a crush is hard.
Having said crush on your best friend is even harder.
