Work Text:
“Bear!” Phil called from the kitchen.
Bear. Dan was Phil’s bear. He felt just like a cub whenever he was around him. Warm, safe, happy. Content.
“Coming!”
Dan pulled himself out from under the covers and headed towards the kitchen.
“Hey bub I made you some pancakes and there’s syrup on the table, but fair warning they’re a bit uh… crispy”
There he was. Phil. Perfect. The glimmer of hope little 18 year old Dan needed, someone who made him feel seen. Made him feel like everything was going to be okay. His person. His soulmate.
His everything.
Friends had always come and gone throughout Dan’s life. Ebbing and flowing tides of different cliques and fandoms. But Phil never left. They could never drift apart.
“God I love you Phil.”
Dan wasn’t usually much for sappiness, but for Phil it was different.
“What did I ever do to deserve such a perfect boyfriend?”
Phil smiled, sunlight from the window falling across his face.
“What did I do to deserve YOU Danny.”
Dan leaned in for a kiss, and pressed his lips gently into his partner’s. The sunbeam fell across both of them now, bringing out the caramel tones in Dan’s hair.
They spent the morning just existing in each other's company. Talking, laughing–the same as they did when they first met. It was strange for either of them to think about a time that they weren’t always together–it just felt so natural. So perfect, like they had been made just for each other.
A perfect pair.
