Morality vs Justice

Summary:

We thank our Noble Hero ” the article reads. Whose hero is he exactly? A hero of war? Really? Evan Rosier was a child. The so-called “Noble Hero” is a child killer, no better than the Death Eaters they claim to scorn.

Was it justice when the killing curse hit him square in the chest? Was it truly noble or is that just something the “good” tell themselves to sleep at night.

Barty hasn’t slept, not for days. This justice doesn’t help him. It doesn’t inspire hope but rather pain, grief, loss. Barty is lost.

Work Text:

Hero Auror, Alastor Moody Takes Down Nefarious Death Eater, Evan Rosier After Attempting To Resist Arrest

After gruelling weeks of hard fought battles, Auror Alastor Moody takes down nefarious Death Eater, Evan Rosier in a lethal duel. When Moody had arrived on the scene, the battle had already been in full swing. Auror Moody had quickly thrown himself into the thick of it, taking on Rosier in an attempt to arrest and bring him to justice. Rosier fought to kill as Moody heroically saved both himself and many residents in the area.

We thank our Noble Hero Alastor Moody, who has brought the wizarding world one step closer to peace and justice —Bla bla bla. Barty has several opinions on this article. The first being its inaccuracy.

The title isn’t as honest as it should be, the article itself is misleading. “Auror Moody Kills Child Soldier Evan Rosier As He Attempts To Flee With His Life” seems to Barty a more accurate description.

Evan wasn’t even involved in the fight, he was halfway across town, running away with Barty at his side. They wanted to leave, leave everything behind. Regulus had been dead for two years and Evan was done living like this. Barty would do anything for Evan, so they fled. Except, they didn’t make it very far, because Moody apparated in front of them.

Barty was thrown into his own duel by some other Auror he doesn’t know the name of. He watched. He saw the moment it happened. The fear, the pain, the panic all over Evan’s face. Barty could not help him. Evan was losing and Barty was stuck, he was stuck , he couldn’t do anything.

Green light hit Evan square in the chest and Barty couldn’t do anything . He couldn’t do anything but fight for his own life. But was it really worth it? Because Barty got to see the love of his life die in front of him at 18 years old.

He hardly escaped because a part of Barty died on that battle field. His heart lay resting on the dirt grounds that should never have been a deathbed.

The second thing he hates about the article is the hypocrisy. The Aurors, the Ministry, Dumbledore’s Order, they claim to fight for “the greater good”, for peace and justice.

How is killing a 19 year old boy a move for peace and justice? A boy, who was clearly running for his life. A child. A CHILD. How is that justice?

These people, they claim to be these noble hero’s but they use the same curses that everyone else is using. They are killing people, torturing people but hey, they’re the good guys, they’re allowed to do it. It’s war, right? These things happen.

Except when someone who doesn't fit the demographic does it. When a child branded like a pig for slaughter is fighting to live, it’s bad, it’s wrong, it’s evil, it’s unjust.

It’s a tale as old as time, the debate between morality and justice. The debate between what is morally right and what is justice.

Killing a death eater, he supposes that could be justice and morally right but that also depends on who you’re asking. Killing a child, when has that ever been morally right? So what happens when a child is a death eater? What then? You would think these “heroes” would rather protect the child, guide them onto a different path, you would think that that would be the right thing to do, no? Instead, these heroes are killing them in the name of justice

Well, Barty has never believed in things that are morally right, only justice and revenge.

One day, one day Barty will have his revenge and Alastor Moody will get his justice. Oh how Barty will enjoy every second of it.
