Chapter Text

Neito was not having a good day. Yeah, he knows that he sounds stupid, but he had only gotten exactly thirty-seven minutes of sleep after travelling to the wonderful place called the 'Phantom Dimension', and he was tired. And yes, whilst it's not common for him to get more than a few hours of sleep, his ADHD kicked in at the wrong time that night and he spent the rest of the night hyper-fixated on trying to copy the 'quirk' of his window. Which, for your information is not possible, just in case you're wondering. The point is, Neito was exhausted, and to make things a hundred times worse, his class was having a three-hour long training session with Class 1-A later that afternoon.

Now, it's not that Neito didn't like Class 1-A, he was sure that they were all wonderful people, it's just that any time that he was to meet with any member of other classes or even his own class, he had to shove that little piece of himself, called Aiden Clark, down into the back of his mind. He parents had explicitly said that he was Monoma Neito now and that any behaviour that had anything to do with 'Aiden Clark' or his favourite town 'Alto, Georgia' would not be tolerated and would result in a night locked in the basement. They had forgotten him in there one time. Every time that he did something that was even remotely himself they would somehow know. Neito was convinced that they hacked into the school's security system to spy on him.

He missed being able to be himself and he missed his old town, even though he hadn't even stayed there for more than two years. Yeah, he had his new friends, Kendo and Tetsutetsu, it wasn't the same as annoying Ashlyn, pranking Tyler with Taylor, comforting Ben, and asking Logan to 'please don't shoot me, your highness!'

So now, there he was, at 8:21am staring at the coffee that he had convinced Shinsou to make him. Wait, class started at 8:25am... Shit! He jumped up from the chair that he was sitting on, banging his knee on the edge of the table as he got up. He grabbed his bag from under his chair and sprinted out of the room, pausing only to chuck his coffee into the sink. He made it into class with two minutes to spare, and he only ran into three people! He was gasping for air as he rushed into the classroom, everyone already stuck in their conversations to notice Neito's slightly crumpled, gasping appearance. Vlad King had yet to make his way into the classroom, Neito was lucky for that fact.

At 8:25am on the dot, Vlad King made his way into the classroom, carrying a large stack of stapled pieces of paper, their marked science tests from a few weeks ago. Neito had forgotten that they were to be given back today. Vlad made his way to the front of the class and placed the papers down on his desk. The room fell silent.

"Good morning class, today we are going to be doing more of a study day for the upcoming midterms (idk I'm from Australia), also later today we are having a mixed training lesson with Class 1-A, so be on your best behaviour." He says, looking directly at Neito. Neito fought the urge to scoff. It wasn't like he wanted to be all arrogant, if anyone had a problem, they should bring it up with his parents. Just tell him when that happens, he wants to bring popcorn. "I am going to hand out your tests from science, you should all be proud, you all did really well on this test." Yeah, well Neito's parents wouldn't take 'really well' as an excuse, would they now?

Vlad wandered around the room handing out tests, when he got Neito's desk, he put the stapled piece of paper face-down on his desk and then moved onto the next person. Neito flipped the paper around, and right on the front was a big, red A. An A wasn't bad... For other people, but for Neito, whose parents refused to accept anything less than an A+, this was basically a death sentence. Neito groaned and put his head on the desk. It was already a long week, and it was only 8:37am on a Tuesday.

The rest of his classes passed by without a hitch, he spent all his time trying to control his ADHD by making colour coded notes that took up pages of all his workbooks. His arm felt like it was going to fall off with the amount that he was writing, which made him glad - to some extent, don't get any ideas - when the training session came up. He was bored. Whilst the rest of his class chattered with barely contain excitement, waiting for Class 1-A to arrive, he sat of a bench nearby, struggling to put on one of his many watches. Would it be surprising to tell you that his parents had designed his hero costume as well? No? Cool, because they had spent over a month making sure that it was acceptable and forced him to iron it every night, which was a pain in the ass.

Finally, just as Class 1-A were filing through the door, he got the clasp on his watch. I want to go home. The two classes started to mingle with each other, whilst the teachers met to discuss what kind of torture they wanted to use on their students that day. If he was completely honest, he did not have the energy, nor the mental capacity to insult anyone, let alone Class 1-A, who had an angry Pomeranian as a guard dog. He just wanted to sleep. Well at least it won't be that bad, just a little fighting, maybe I can fake being sick? The lights go out, making the room darken instantly. God fucking dammit.

In an instant, the room erupted in loud screams and shouting, Neito sprung up from his bench. A large clump of hair swung down in front of his eyes, which made him pause. He always gelled his hair back, and never once has it come out. It was like his heart skidded to a stop. Whilst the lights had gone out, there still should be the natural light from the windows, instead there was an unnatural red glow. Please, please, please, don't be what I'm thinking! He looked around, all the students were still there along with the teachers, but you could hear no cars, no horns, nothing like that. No people. He looked down at his clothes, they were black, combat, a knife tucked into his waistband. No, no, no, no, shit!

"Everybody, shut up!" Vlad yells, relaxing slightly when he sees no sign of immediate danger. Simply untrue lol. The lights flicker back on, and everyone sighs in relief - except Neito, the sky is still red, and his clothes and hair did not go back to what they previously were, and he was willing to bet that his eyes were back to red (he put in blue contacts because of his parents). The room went quiet. "Thank you, now, that was just a small power outage so we shou- What the fuck is that?!?" Vlad shouts, pointing to the silent tall figure standing in the doorway. A phantom.

The phantom opens its mouth it a silent (kinda) scream, and bolts forwards towards the group of students, and Neito himself. There is a small stampede where people are trying to attack it with their quicks (*cough cough* Bakugou *cough cough*) but when they move to use their quirks, nothing happens. The phantom continues charging forwards. Neito lets out an exhausted sigh and grabs his knife out of his waistband before flinging himself at the phantom, surprising all the people that had started to back away from the phantom. I must look insane, he thought wryly. He stabbed the knife up through the bottom of its jaw, straight into its head, causing black blood to spurt everywhere. The phantom fell to the ground, Neito collapsing on top of it. He wrenched his knife from the phantom's head and puts it back in his waistband. He stands back up, only to find every single person looking straight at him with wide eyes. Great.

"Who the fuck are you?!?" Bakugou yells, sneering at him. What? He was- Oh right... He must look completely different.

"You don't recognise me?" He questions anyway. Just for fun.

"Why the fuck would I recognise an extra like you?!"

"Wait a second... Monoma?" Kendo asks. The room goes silent, the air somehow colder. Neito smirks.

"Yeah, Kendo?" He asks sweetly. There's a sharp intake of breath.

"No way..." Someone whispers.

"What - you - I - Hah?!" Tetsutetsu looks to be on the verge of a mental breakdown, and honestly, yeah, Neito is too. The two teachers walk forwards, Vlad, with a surprised look on his face, Aizawa with a neutral look on his.

"Monoma."

"Sensei."

"Why do you look completely different, and how did you kill that thing, and why are your ey-" Aizawa puts a hand on Vlad's shoulder, effectively stopping his rambling. He stares at Neito, making his shift uncomfortably in his place.

"What he means to say is, what is going on?" Aizawa asks. Neito didn't know how to answer that.

"Ummm... stuff?" He's so screwed.

Chapter Text

"Ummm... stuff?" He's so screwed.

"Really. The best excuse that you can come up with... is stuff?" Vlad King asks incredulously, raising an eyebrow, as Aizawa stares at the red sky intently. Neito couldn't tell if he was trying to figure out what was going on, or the fastest way to transport both himself and his sleeping bag far away from that room. Eh, it was probably the second option. Neito groans, he just wanted to go back to sleep and hopefully never wake up again, was that too much to ask for?

"Okay, well what did you wan-" Neito begins before getting interrupted by the doors to the area swung open so hard that they left small dents in the wall. In the doorway, huffing and puffing like they had just run a marathon, were his friends. Carrot-top (Ashlyn), Thing 1 (Tyler) and Thing 2 (Taylor), Soft boi (Ben), and the Gun Princess (Logan). Neito felt himself freeze in place. Hey, maybe those scientist kidnapper people were right. He is hallucinating. It was because of the mushrooms :). But then his body unfroze, like he had been blasted with a flamethrower or a Todoroki child. He started sprinting towards the door, completely surprising the two teachers that had stepped in front of him when the doors had slammed open (awe sweet). It was like one of those Disney reunions, where they run at each other in slow motion and hug, apart from the fact that when he tried to pull Ashlyn into a hug, she just judo-flipped him, making his wheeze on the floor as the rest of his friends looked on in surprise and then started to laugh at him. How rude.

"Aid-Aiden?! I'd say I'm sorry, but why'd you sprint at me like a fucking demented goose!?!?!" Ashlyn whisper yells over Tyler's cackling laughter.

"I thought you'd be happy to see me." Neito pouts, hiding a smile as Taylor trips over Tyler and sends them both stumbling to the ground in a large pile. Ben starts to affectionately blow his whistle at them. Ashlyn looks like she'd rather be anywhere else but there at that moment, and Logan looked like he was questioning his mental stability, not unlike the entirety of class 1-A, class 1-B, and their two teachers... Shit, he'd forgotten about them.

"So... um...?" He gestures to the small crowd of people that were gathered around him. "Ta-Da!?" He does little jazz hands. Aizawa gives him The Look™ and Vlad looked like he was on the verge of passing out or having a heart attack, whichever one came first.

"Explain." Well, that left no room for negotiation. Neito sighs and sits on the floor, leaning against Tyler's leg, who surprisingly does not push him away. The rest of the group takes that as an invitation to sit down, apart from Tyler, who opts to be Neito's backrest for the moment. It was going to be a long talk. The two classes looked at the group with thinly veiled confusion and curiosity, due to the fact that it seemed to be only the six of them that knew what was going on.

"What do you want to know?" He sighs, wanting to be literally anywhere else.

Unluckily, the angry Pomeranian (why does he look so much like a dog - 'King Explosion Murder God' my ass) takes that as permission to talk. "WHAT THE FUCK IS ALL OF THIS!!!???"

"Calm down, you TNT Barbie! I wasn't talking to you, so calm your tits. Thank you." Neito interrupts before he could go on a screaming tirade.

"HUH!? THE FUCK DID YOU JUST CALL ME YOU-" Neito ignores the screaming behind him, it reminded him of that one child in the supermarket yelling at their mum for candy. Just as immature too. He turns his attention back to the two teachers who were watching with wide eyes.

"Well? What did you want to know?!"

Aizawa takes a step towards the group, in the background, the pink girl (was it Mina?) and the red-headed dude that Tetsutetsu thinks is 'manly' (think it's Kirishima?), are trying to calm the explode-y little murder muffin. "What is going on with the red sky, and that weird creature, and who are these people? You obviously know something, and what is with the change in your appearance? Didn't you used to have blue eyes?" Aizawa questions, rapid-fire, that go straight one ear and out the other. He massages his temples, the headache that had disappeared before, came back five times as bad. He just wanted to go to bed.

"Fine I will give you, like... a run-down of the situation of what I know of it, can you all listen, because I don't want to have to repeat it. Please don't interrupt either. Okay?" Aizawa looks directly at him, and after a moment's hesitation, gives a slow nod.

"Go ahead." Suddenly he had like 40 pairs of eyes, seeming to stare straight (hah) into his soul.

"Okay... Where should I start... 'Kay. So, basically it all started when I moved to Alto, Georgia, when I was like fourteen years old, so two years ago. In that town I met Ashlyn," he gestures to the carrot-top, who glares at him, "and we became besties instantly!" Tyler snorts, Ash is now death-glaring him. "Anyways, I moved with my cousin Ben," a gesture to Ben, "and we were all in the same class with the rest of this little group!" He points to the rest of the group "That's Logan, he's scarier than he looks, that's Taylor, I have no insults, she's amazing, and this is Tyler... He's my boyfriend." There are several eyes widening, and Kendo chokes, coughing as Tetsutetsu smacks her on the back.

"How is this necessary?" Aizawa interrupts, eyeing the open doors behind them.

"Oh, believe me this is important, so... um, where was I... oh, right, in class, we were all put into the same group for a project, to kick-start this project, we had a field trip to a place called 'Savannah'." Ashlyn frowns, Logan fidgets nervously with the corner of his pants, and Taylor squeezes Ashlyn's hand, and puts the other one on Ben's shoulder.

The classes and teachers seemed to notice the new-found tension. "What's wrong? Shiozaki asks softly, cringing at all the attentive eyes that swing her way.

"Nothing’s wrong, just don't like that shitty place very much." Tyler says gruffly, one of his hands playing with Neito's hair, a nervous habit that he had picked up during meetings in the school buses in the Phantom dimension. "You can continue."

Neito nods. "So yeah, we all went to Savannah, it was like a normal school trip, we went on tours, ate random foods, and shit like that. But, uh..." He pauses unsure how to word the next part. "There was a woman, from a tour group, said that there were some left-over tickets for a tour of their 'haunted house'. We all jumped at the chance, I guess, and we went in, it was all normal, and then the woman gets a phone call, has to go outside to take it, she just tells us not to touch anything, and then walks away. We continued on, explored the rest of the house, and then we went into the basement..." The rest of the students had started to get restless, quite a few of them had sunk down to the floor or nearby benches, and Neito could tell that they were done with his story already, he should speed this up. "And then Ashlyn hears something, none of the rest of us hear it, and then she stops for a second to look for the source, I guess? But when we had realised that she wasn't walking with us anymore, we turned around to see her looking at us, but there... there was something behind her, like it was so close that it was touching her arm." As he continued talking, he could see Aizawa's frown getting deeper and deeper. "IT was only there for a second before it just... vanished. It looked like a human but was black and twisted and was covered in some strange sort of goopy substance. It didn't have any pupils, and its mouth stretched from one side of its face to the other. It was fucking creepy." He paused to take a breath, opening his mouth to continue, he was interrupted by a;

"Like the creature from earlier?" Awase questions, somehow looking more tense than usual.

Neito looks straight (hah) at him and nods, feeling the relief that at least someone had connected the dots so that he wouldn't feel like such a nutcase. "Exactly, but it disappeared so quickly that we had thought that it was just some trick that the woman was trying to play on us, there was no scratch on Ash's arm, no... residue, nothing to prove that it had been there. So, we assumed that it hadn't."

"But we just saw it...?" Momo urged, other students murmured agreements.

"Can I finish the story first?" Momo goes red and nods, clearly not thinking that she'd be called out for that. Neito was just sick of all the interruptions.

"Thank you." He sighs, "We thought that nothing was wrong and that it was all a sick joke that the woman had played on us. So, we went around the day as usual, and after everything was done we went to the hotel, and everything was alright... but Logan said that he'd... taken a photo... of the creature. Tyler walked out, saying something about tricks and a shit."

"Aay!" Tyler protested, but Neito bulldozed on, finding it funny how Tyler got so annoyed over the smallest things.

"But Ben and I were intrigued, we were expecting something like a funny ghost or some shit, but it was just Ash, she was standing there, nothing out of the ordinary, but she had two shadows, one was Her’s, the others was the creature's." He paused.

"You had a photo and didn't tell us?!"

"The fuck?!" And there it was. Chaos :)

"Wait, wait, wait... So, like an alternate dimension or like a shadow realm?" Pipes up one small voice, somehow travelling over the rest. It was that broccoli boy, Midoriya.

"Everybody, SHUSH!!" Wow, Neito did not expect the Vlad could yell that loudly, Present Mic would be impressed. The room went silent. Vlad turns back to Neito, "Can you explain?"

"Um, yeah, so I guess what Midoriya was saying about an alternate dimension in correc-" The whispered shouts of people and the flurry of murmurs that came from both the broccoli boy, half-and-half boy and the rest of the students were loud enough to drown out both Neito's voice and his thoughts He could hear something about cross-travelling dimensions and secret love child's..? What the fuck.

"AHEM!" Okay, that was more efficient than Vlad's shouting method. Maybe everyone was just more scared of Aizawa. He then turned his glare on Neito, who fought the urge to get up from when he was sitting and just bolt. "Continue."

Neito gives a shaky nod. "Okay, so basically, at midnight that night, we woke up to find that the sky was red, not unlike the sky is now." He gestured to the blood-red sky outside. "We got out of bed to hear Taylor's scream, which made Tyler sprint faster than I have ever seen before... He smashed a door into my face :("

"I said I was sorry... Did I?"

"ANYways, we then ran to the girl's rooms, and they were coming out into the hallway, we reunite." Neito makes a sarcastic little 'yay' sound, which causes Taylor to stifle her giggles and Tyler to bite back a snort. "And then we see one of the Phantoms coming out from the girl’s rooms. Of course, we freak out and run away, we end up making to back to the boy’s bedroom, with a minor detour, and block the door. We take a bit of a rest, and the we realised that Ash was bleeding on her arm from when we went to that haunted house, which is called The Sorrel Weed House, Tyler got a bit mad at her for not telling us that the injury was real, but after we got that sorted out, we patched up Ash's wound... and yeah." He looks around at the now invested audience. "What?"

"Is that it?"

"Yeah! what about the red sky?"

"What even are those things!!?"

"How long will we be stuck here!?"

"Does anyone... else know about this?"

"Okay, okay, you all have questions, I get it. 'Kay, the sky is red because other dimensions, duh. Um, those things are called phantoms, they can be absolutely massive, so consider yourselves lucky. The phantoms can be killed and also have weaknesses to light. Normally we travel here at midnight, and stay for seven hours, but no time goes by in the real world. Oh, and all our parents know about this. Is that all the questions?" Neito feels lightheaded from all that rambling and shit, he just wants to go back to bed.

"Why didn't you tell any teachers or police? This could be a crime scene!" It seems that Vlad had found him missing voice! Quick! Everyone clap sarcastically!

"Didn't really feel like being drugged, kidnapped, and experimented on again. Plus, I would have to change my name again, and that's just a pain in my ass, I liked my last name." He pouts.  There was a small pause and then...

"WHAT?!?" Ah, there it is.

Aiden smiles and leans back on his boyfriend's legs. Yeah, everything would be okay.

FIN.
