Charlie watched the latest news headlines scroll across the screen in numb disbelief.
“So what, that's it?”
Lately it seemed each time he turned on the news there was more bad than good.
It was exhausting, disheartening.
He felt Nick's arms encircle him and tensed before relaxing back into them.
“No, Charlie,” he heard his boyfriend whisper. “We fight. We always fight. But we also remember to see the good. We hold each other, pick flowers, celebrate birthdays, hug our friends. And we love.”
“Because that's what life really is. A brief moment we exist, so we choose to love.”
