Work Text:
The two close friends held each other close, their warmth being passed to one another while in the soft embrace of a blanket. It was an especially cold night, and the two decided it would be best to cuddle, as a way of keeping each other warm, as well as a way of sharing some very suppressed affectionate needs.
The two had feelings for each other. That they knew, however they both came to the mutual agreement that things would be better as friends. After all, they are in purgatory, aren’t they? And a relationship could complicate things.
Elliot tightened his grip on Chance’s back, nudging himself closer to their chest. The closeness was something neither of them had experienced in a long time, so this felt like heaven for the pizza boy. Chance had their hand entangled in his hair, running their fingers through the long, yellow strands, as Elliot's cabin was silent, save for their slow and steady breathing.
Elliot was close to tears. So touch-starved in this place they called hell, having someone to hold, especially Chance, was all he could ever ask for. Why didn’t he ask for this sooner? Is it because he didn’t know how?
Chance began to snap out of whatever trance they were in to notice the sniffles of the man below them. They removed the hand that was in Elliot’s hair to cup his face, lifting it up for Elliot to face them. “What’s wrong Elli?”, they asked barely above a whisper, as to not potentially scare off the man currently melting into them. At this, tears began to silently stream down the pizza boy’s face, as he could no longer bring himself to keep his composure. He wrapped his arms and legs around the gambler before speaking into his neck in a wobbly, barely audible whisper.
“I missed this. I missed this so much. Please don’t go.” He clung to Chance like it would be the last time they spoke, and Chance couldn’t help but understand where Elliot came from. He knew how this felt. He knew how it felt to be left alone.
“I’m not going anywhere, Elli, it’s alright..” They cooed, petting and hushing the man that was sobbing into the crook of their.neck. They felt tears prick at their own eyes as they pulled Elliot closer to them, about as close as they could get. Their legs were entangled with one another, as the low ponytail Elliot put up before bed started to come undone. The warmth they shared that night was more than any hot cocoa or heater could ever replace. Something they chose to ignore up until now.
They loved each other. Even if they were stuck here, even if there was nothing they could do, they still did.
They fell asleep peacefully once all of the tears had been shed, basking in the heat of one another. The wind passively blew outside.
