Work Text:
He was listening to Scott negotiate with Ren and Martyn; he didn’t like the situation at all.
The two had showed up in the Flower Valley to try to get them to join the ongoing war on their side, but they were doing it way too demandingly and threateningly for his liking.
He was red, Ren was red and very much in his territory unprompted. Jimmy has never been a possessive or territorial person, he’s sure that it comes with being a red life.
Scott took it upon himself to talk with the intruders Ren and Martyn, and it was for the best, his husband has always been good with words.
“I don’t like your use of the word allegiance, as though you’re higher than us, because it would be an alliance, as in equal partnership” Scott responded to Ren’s words, the unsureness clear in his voice.
“Allegiance, alliance, same thing” came Ren’s cocky dismissive tone. Jimmy stayed quiet, he wanted to let Scott do his thing but he could feel the tingles of anger underneath his skin.
“I don’t know, we’re pretty set over here-” Scott tried to refuse the “proposal”, if it could even be called that, it was more a poorly disguised scam, before he got interrupted by Ren “you want to be first in the book?” his tone now clearly threatening.
Faster than he could realise he moves in front of Scott, gripping his sword tightly, if he was more lucid he would notice how the other three men’s eyes widened, he could see Martyn almost starting to laugh, he threw him a glare, and that seemed to surprise him enough for him to stop.
“You dare hurt him and I’ll make sure you won’t have the limbs to hurt him again” he spit the words, gripping his sword so tight he might break the handle.
He kept glaring at the two in front of him taking in wide eyes, dog ears pinned back, they looked scared.
His red instincts reeled at this.
“We are not allying with you” he said while lighting their banner on fire “now get out of these walls.” He demanded, the last rational part of him stopping him from attacking them then and there, despite his pressing desire to.
The Red king and his hand were quick to leave the valley, shouting a “you will regret this” over their shoulder.
The moment they’re gone, he gets turned around by a hand on his shoulder. Still on edge, he almost attacked only for it to turn in a tight hug when he realised it’s Scott.
His petal. His husband. His green life.
“And what was that?” Scott chuckled as he held him, he was clearly amused.
“They don’t get to threaten you. You’re mine” he answered simply as he curled over Scott to bury his face in the blue hair.
“I can protect myself, probably better than you can, petal” before Jimmy could get offended he continued “but I meant that I’ve never seen you actually being scary” he kept having that amused smile on his face that looked about to burst in a laugh.
“I can be scary! You saw that just now!” he squawked back, his bloodthirsty instincts already calmed down to the normal amount he felt by having such an easy prey a green life so close to him. (Scott is not easy prey, he knew that he would lose both the fight and their relationship if he ever lost control)
“Yeah you were, I think it was the hottest thing you’ve ever done” Scott smirked and then laughed when Jimmy squeaked in embarrassment.
“Yeah I think that’s the only time Timmy was actually scary, Ren was actually scared because I had told him that, even red, he’s not a threat, but guess I was wrong” Martyn finishes telling the story.
“Are we talking about the same guy? ‘Cause Jimmy never even came close to scary since I’ve got close to him” Tango rightfully questions, he can’t imagine sweet, dorky Jimmy actually threaten someone and managing to scare someone like Martyn that knows him since, like, forever.
“I promise you, dude, he says it was being red and constantly close to Scott that made him possessive and stuff” Martyn explained to him, before smirking making Tango look at him curiously.
“I’ve also been told they had a fun evening that day” Martyn all but laughed at him flushing red “you’ll have to ask them about the details tho” he added, and Tango just might.
