Chapter Text
As far as 'doing good' in Secondary means, Lando would definitely say he was doing alright. From getting good test results across his subjects (well, other than Geography but who cared about Geography? He doesn't need to know where Malaysia is or whatever happened for a waterfall to form), to parent's evenings actually going smoothly, and even his GCSE options being unexpectedly straightforward while his peers stressed about it openly - he could acknowledge that he was doing great. Or well, he would have said that a few months ago.
Throughout the year, his grades have been dropping consistently and well, that's not exactly good when your GCSEs are coming up next year. Falling behind persistently in Set 1 wasn't a good look was it? The Brit's been constantly struggling, finding maths problems that he could do in a minute or two taking up far more time. If only someone could y'know, help him since George's 'attempts' genuinely sounded like exam invigilators reading your question to 'help you understand it.' He might be struggling, but jesus christ! He can read thank you very much.
The only thing that's looking somewhat well for him is his 'creativity' according to Charles, but he can't find the words to express anything. Managing to sum up his point about Don John's intentions in Much Ado About Nothing as 'annoying' rather than the paragraph he could've written and explained last year on his envy of his half-brother and the things that he doesn't get without a measly title. Yeah no, it's more annoying that he can't string together his points into one cohesive idea anymore, with them overlapping and clashing persistently.
His ideas just sat with him, since raising his hand was becoming pointless if he'd struggle to explain whatever he said, or just downright say the wrong thing. It was exhausting.
Despite Easter just passing, he didn't really feel any better. The chocolate didn't really help his mood and the two-week break was far too short in his opinion. Sure his family was wonderful, but he'd rather have his grades fixed, or to know how to fix it, atleast. His problems were just increasing and he didn't know how to stop it. He wanted it to stop.
Enter that new guy.
