    Summary

The city felt too big. Even when he was walking on solid pavement, Juwang’s feet didn’t quite feel real. There were too many cars. Too many signs in neon colors. Too many people who didn’t look up. It was the kind of place where no one noticed if you disappeared.

He should’ve felt excited. They’d talked every day for almost a year. Donghwa knew his favorite pencil brands, and had listened to him cry once about a broken drawing tablet. They weren’t strangers.

But when he got to the café and saw Donghwa hunched over a mug like he was trying to disappear into it—Juwang paused.

He looked exactly like he did in his profile picture—tousled black hair, dark hoodie, the kind of gaze that made you feel like he saw more than he let on. But something about him felt different now. More distant. More unreadable than ever. He was used to Donghwa’s stillness through a screen. The pauses, the thoughtful silences, the dry comments that came a second too late. But in person, it had weight.
