Work Text:

Gideon was at the bar chatting to some elven lady, Kremy was off in the corner of the room playing poker with some goblins. Gideon probably should be over there keeping guard, but he’s got a clear view from over here in case any thing goes wrong and this girl, Evelyn, Eva, Eve, something like that, was eyeing him up since him and Kremy walked in.
“So are you ever going to take your eyes off of your crocodile friend over there or what.” The elf teases slipping her hand onto Gideon’s thigh.
“He’s an alligator, not a crocodile.” Gideon corrected out of habit, he knows how much Kremy hates being called a crocodile, he doesn’t even look like a crocodile.
“Either way you’ve got my full attention now sweetheart.” He appeases the woman after the withering look, she gives him.
“That’s good now how about me and you-” There’s a loud crash over in the corner that Kremys made himself comfortable in. He couldn’t see what’s going on as a crowd had formed around the noise. He moves to get up when he feels a hand grab at his wrist.
“Oh, sit back down I’m sure your friends fine and if he’s not there are more than just him in the world you can make new friends, this is your only chance at this.” Her tone had turned flirty, but Gideon couldn’t be more disgusted. Gideon wanted to break the woman’s wrist for suggesting he leaves Kremy to fend for himself and just replace him, but he’s already wasted to much time, so he just rips his wrist out of her hand and storms over to crowd, his fire raging.

It takes far longer than he would have liked to make it through the crowd since most were to distracted by the fight to move out of his way but when he gets through the crowd, he’s not to happy about the sight that greets him. He sees one two goblins on the floor knocked out with bite marks and red markings from where they were clearly hit by Kremys cane, but he also sees four goblins surrounding Kremy, Kremys arm was clearly nicked by one of the Goblins blades with blood rushing out and his suit torn in a couple of areas he also sports some red markings. When he notices the state, his friend is in Gideon throws himself in to the fight grabbing one of the goblins by the neck and burning them before throwing them on to the ground, he then grabs the second goblin and slams his head into the table before breaking his arm. He looks over and sees Kremy knocking one of the goblins before Gideon spots the last one stab Kremy in the leg while he’s distracted with the other goblin. All Gideon can hear is Kremys yell of pain when he grabs the last goblin and slams him against the floor before he just starts wailing on him, every crunch of from him punching the goblins body he hears Kremys pained yell which he could have prevented if he’d just been here to do his job. He’s brought back to Earth when he feels a hand grab him by the shoulder and just as he turns around to start swinging on them, he notices it’s Kremy and calms down, until he notices the still bleeding wound and some of the rage seeps back in.
“Come on Gid, let’s get out of here before the guards get here.” Kremy says as he takes his hand off of Gideon’s shoulder before Gideon catches it and holds it tight as he gets up and helps Kremy go through the crowd with his leg injury, glaring at anyone who even looks at them.

They’re a couple of meters away from the bar when Gideon hears a quite hiss of pain beside him, he looks down and sees Kremy limping and before he scooped him up and held him against his chest.
“What Gideon. What are you doing?” Kremy exclaimed which is fair enough after just being grabbed with no warning.
“You hurt your leg so I’m carrying you.” Gideon explained, Kremy didn’t need to know that Gideon found a lot of comfort Kremy close to him like this where nobody could get to him without Gideon being able to protect him not to mention how comfortable Kremys cold skin was against his eternally hot body.
“Well, I’m perfectly fine walking on my own so if you don’t mind putting me down.” Kremy then proceeded to try and work his way out of Gideon’s arms to which Gideon responded by holding him closer to his chest.
“No can do Kremy it’s my job to protect you so I’m going to carry you until we can get that leg of yours healed.” Gideon could have jumped for joy when after this all Kremy did was sigh and laid his head on Gideon’s chest. They walked a bit in comfortable silence for a bit before Gideon asked the question he’s been wondering since they left.
“So, what exactly happened in there?” Gideon asked Kremy who seemed to get mad at the question.
“Those goblins accused me of cheating, I mean sure fair enough I usually do but they don’t know that, and I didn’t even cheat during any of our rounds I don’t cheat in friendly games they were just that bad!” Kremy explained the situation his arms gesturing wildly before stopping when pain shoots through his arm from the cut they both forgot were there.
“Damn, I’m not sorry I beat the shit out of them, then.” Gideon said gaining a chuckle from Kremy.
“Are you ever?” Kremy joked.
“Nope.” Gideon responded immediately causing Kremy to laugh even more, bringing a large smile to Gideon’s lips seeing Kremy happy after all that had happened to him today.

They walked the path out of the village into the forest where they set up the tent for the night and Gideon started fixing Kremys wounds.
“I’m sorry I wasn’t there to protect you Kremy.” Gideon apologised quietly while bandaging Kremys leg which earned him a soft slap on the head by Kremys good hand.
“Come off it Gid, they are only shallow wounds besides, I could have taken them.” Kremy rolled his eyes at him but that only made Gideon feel worse.
“You shouldn’t have to it’s my job to protect you, I promised you I would protect you and I got distracted by some girl.” Gideon finished the wrapping on Kremys leg when he felt Kremys arms wrap around him.
“I would have been fine you’ve got a life to live outside of me I can’t expect you to be at my side every waking second it would be unfair, now quit blaming yourself I need sleep and it’s cold out do you mind if I sleep next to you.” Gideon still felt kinda bad but the chance to make up for it and keep Kremy close was too good to pass up.
“Of course, man, come here let’s lie down.” Gideon and Kremy lied down in the tent and Gideon wrapped his arms around Kremy to keep him warm and close.
“Thanks Gid.” Kremy said with a yawn.
“No problem Kremy, good night.” Gideon pulled Kremy a little closer when he said this.
“Good night darling.” Kremy fell asleep soon after, but Gideon couldn’t. Gideon failed Kremy today he was limping because Gideon wasn’t paying attention but yet Kremy still treated him the same as if what happened was so big deal. To Kremy he was still his Darling Gideon but who’s to say it will be the same the next time around. Kremy gave him this life, and he doesn’t know what he would do if he were to lose him, so that settles it Kremy won’t be leaving Gideon’s sight for a while.

And if in the next couple of weeks Gideon clung to Kremy like a leech then Kremy didn’t comment on it as long as it didn’t get in the way with a job.

Notes:

One day I will let Kremy Lecroux be happy but not today

Hope you all enjoyed also if word tells me to use formal language one more time like I’m writing an essay and not a fucking fanfic I’m going to fling my phone at the wall
