Summary
Castiel worked for centuries to earn the title of "Guardian". It is a Guardian's job to protect their assigned human, someone who will one day become a Hunter. Heaven chooses humans to become Hunters based on what is seen in their soul, and on their 25th birthday, it's their Guardian's job to escort them so that their training can begin. On the day of his promotion, Castiel is assigned to a human named Dean Winchester. For 25 years, Castiel watches over Dean, keeping him safe, and now his time has come. It's time for Dean to begin his training and become who he was always meant to be. As Dean learns about the true horrors of the world, he will learn to lean on Castiel for support, and Castiel, as difficult as it is, must remember that he is to never, ever, feel.
