Work Text:
Stede had been going to the club more often lately, feeling more comfortable there surrounded by his new friends, including Izzy, even if calling him ‘friend’ seemed to be a bit of a stretch. He was a friend of a friend, the kind of acquaintance that you didn’t choose and certainly never expected to have, but that you ended up stuck with nevertheless.
They had known each other for a while now and they still argued constantly, but despite it not being exactly a friendly banter, it certainly wasn’t the same exchange of vicious remarks they used to have at the beginning, when Izzy kept looking at him with disgust the few times he wasn’t simply ignoring him whenever they happened to be in the same place by chance.
Things got slightly better with time and even thought Izzy had never actually talked to him about it, Stede had noticed his hostile attitude had changed right after the incident with Lucius’ new coworker, who had been fired on the spot the moment Stede had learned about the man’s horrible behavior.
Stede wouldn’t tolerate any kind of bullying in his business and had said so when he had showed that man the door rather harshly. Later, Stede had also apologized to Lucius for hiring such a jerk in the first place, ashamed of having been completely fooled by him in the job interview. Apparently the story had reached Izzy’s ears soon enough and the mood between them had changed since then.
They still argued more often than not, that was true, but Izzy seemed to have reluctantly accepted Stede as part of the group of friends he tolerated and if he was completely honest, Stede had surprisingly started to enjoy the company of that rude man lately. Even their arguments, for some reason.
So they were at the club that night, and they had once again started arguing as soon as the others had left them alone for five minutes to go to order some drinks or to chat with some friends or whatever, Stede hadn’t been paying much attention since he had already been engaged in an argument with Izzy about Stede’s outfit choice, which was rich coming from a man whose whole wardrobe seemed to be full of only black and dark grey clothing.
Stede liked bright colors so what? At least all his clothes were nicely tailored and made of good quality fabric. Meanwhile, that night Izzy had chosen to wear a boring black shirt that seemed two sizes too small and certainly impossible to get all buttoned up even if Izzy’s life depended on it.
Stede was saying so much to his face, straightening to his full height because he knew how much it annoyed Izzy when he had to look up to glare at him, but of course the man wouldn’t let it go and he even took a step closer, tugging lightly at Stede’s silk shirt with an infuriating smirk on his face.
Then the music changed. A new song started, the rhythmic sound of keyboard and drums loudly resonated in the crowded space and Stede recognized it immediately. He loved that song, it was groovy and sensual and addictive and the crowd seemed to agree with him as most people started dancing to the beat around them.
Stede closed his mouth, whatever he was planning on throwing back at Izzy already forgotten. He could feel the sound vibrating through him, his heart beating almost in synch with the rhythm. He watched as Izzy’s angry frown disappeared from his face, his hand still grasping Stede’s shirt.
The man stared at him unblinking and Stede was close enough to notice Izzy’s eyes darkening even in the dim light of the club. In fact, they were so close now that Stede could feel Izzy’s chest brushing against his with every breath the man took. And he was breathing heavily, Stede noticed as well. It was difficult not to.
Stede’s eyes were drawn to the unbuttoned shirt and he watched as Izzy’s chest rose and fell, barely contained by that awful black shirt. When he looked up at his face again, Stede saw that Izzy was staring at him with a look on his face that made Stede’s mouth go dry.
Izzy tilted his head slightly as if waiting for him to do something, say something. Stede licked his lips and opened his mouth to speak, not having the slightest idea of what to say and then the chorus of the song blasted from the speakers and Izzy dragged him down by the grasp he had on his shirt and kissed him hungrily
It was rough and demanding and intoxicating and Stede didn’t miss a beat. He put his arms around Izzy and pulled until they were flush against each other and then he let out a pleased noise that was swallowed by Izzy as his tongue found its way into his mouth.
They kissed roughly for a while, not caring about the people around them. Stede got lost in the feeling of Izzy’s tongue against his and when he felt Izzy pushing slowly away, he whined and chased after Izzy’s mouth, nipping at his lips greedily. Izzy rewarded him with a playful bite and Stede’s hips moved of their own accord, grinding shamelessly against him.
Izzy gasped into his mouth. Stede loved it. So he did it again. And again.
When they finally broke apart, they both were breathing hard and the song was ending. Izzy’s eyes were still dark and his lips were red and shiny. He looked well and thoroughly kissed and Stede could only guess he probably looked more or less the same.
Then Izzy smirked, looking proud of himself and Stede felt the need to wipe that expression off the infuriating man’s face so he did the only logical thing to do. He grabbed Izzy’s ugly black shirt to push him closer and leaned down to kiss him again as a new song started.
Maybe the others were about to come back, Stede thought as his tongue brushed against Izzy’s lips, but he lost that train of thought as soon as Izzy moaned into his mouth and his lips parted to let him in once again.
