Stede wished he had an answer for him, but all that left his mouth was a whine as his feverish body was wracked with shudders. He pulled the covers tighter around himself, unable to get warm enough – except, oddly, at the juncture between his legs, where he felt as though he was burning.
“I thought you were a beta,” Izzy said, and Stede couldn’t think clearly enough to realise why he would phrase it so oddly.
“I am a beta,” he said.
“Then why are you in fucking heat?”
