It’s an unfortunately familiar routine by now. Once a month, Yukari spends three days or so stuck in her room, skipping school and trips to Tartarus because she’s unable to get out of bed. At first, she hid the full extent of the situation from the rest of SEES, but after Yukari began dating Fuuka, Minato and Aigis, she let them know more about her situation. And knowing that, thanks to a horrible condition called endometriosis, whenever she has her period, Yukari is in too much pain to get out of bed without being sick… it makes Fuuka want to cry. Especially because there’s not really anything she can do to help.
Well, they certainly can’t stop her debilitating cramps and the other symptoms that make Yukari want to die of embarrassment, but they can help in little ways. And Fuuka is glad that Yukari lets them.
By now, they all have roles. Aigis’ role is to remember times, to prompt Yukari when she needs her next dose of painkillers and to recommend that Yukari keep eating and drinking to keep her strength up even though she feels sick. Also, if Yukari’s pain is so bad she can’t even move but she needs to visit the bathroom, Aigis carries her there, because it turns out a robot with guns for hands is really strong. Yukari complained the first time, but after she fell over trying to walk on her own, she relented and let Aigis carry her.
Minato’s role is to make sure Yukari’s heat pads are hot enough to help with her pain, and to fetch her anything she needs, no matter how silly it sounds. As far as Fuuka is concerned, when someone is in as much pain as Yukari, they deserve anything they want. Minato agrees, happily getting Yukari anything she desires.
And Fuuka has the easiest job: to keep Yukari company. Yukari used to hide when she was in agony, but now she’s actually started letting her partners into her life, she admitted once that she hates being alone when she’s hurting. So, Fuuka makes sure Yukari doesn’t have to suffer in silence. Sometimes, she reads to Yukari, or runs her through what she missed at school that day, or lets Yukari borrow her MP3 player and listen to music. But, most often, she finds herself in bed with Yukari, giving her girlfriend a big cuddle.
