Work Text:

"I'll break up with all of you if we don't find my plushie!"

Well, those were not the first words Haru expected to hear upon arriving home. In the middle of the living room stands Futaba, hands on her hips, as she stares down Yusuke and Ryuji. Judging by the number of shoes by the front door, they’re the only three currently home.

“Okay, isn’t that a bit extreme, dude?” Ryuji says, clearly trying not to laugh.

“Not in the slightest,” Futaba says.

“Would you really end a loving relationship of over ten years because you lost a stuffed toy?” Yusuke says.

Clearly, this is the wrong thing to say.

“It’s not just a stuffed toy, Inari! Though I wouldn’t expect an idiot who thinks it’s okay to touch my limited-edition figures to understand!”

“Idiot?!” Yusuke cries in exasperation, his voice becoming shrill. “And I only did that because I thought they would look good in dynamic poses.”

“Um, guys, aren’t we supposed to be arguing about the missing plushie?” Ryuji says.

“It wasn’t supposed to be an argument,” Futaba huffs. “But what am I meant to do about you two being terrible at finding shit.”

“Well, you are clearly not any better, or we would have found it by now,” Yusuke adds.

“Do you need any help in here?” Haru asks, finally making her presence known. When three heads turn to look at her, she tries her best not to giggle at their shenanigans, instead offering a helpful smile.

“Oh, hey, Haru,” Ryuji says. “Didn’t hear you arrive.”

“I think that’s because you’ve been a bit… distracted,” she says diplomatically.

“Did you have a good day?” Yusuke asks Haru.

Before Haru can reply, Futaba says, “Hey, no changing the subject. Our relationship is on the line over here.”

Clearly unable to contain it any longer, Ryuji laughs. Futaba glares at him.

Certain they’ll bicker forever if she doesn’t do something, Haru says, “Would you like me to help you find it, Futaba-chan? But please don’t threaten to break up with us if we can’t find it.”

“Oh, fine,” Futaba says, but a playful smirk shows she isn’t really annoyed. “But, yeah, I’d really appreciate the help.”

And so, with Haru organising the search, the four of them split up to look for the plushie that caused all this chaos, hoping they can find it before the others come home.
