Harry and Cedric had been together since Harry’s fourth year. They’d gotten together after the Third Task of the Triwizard Tournament. Cedric had nearly died when hit with the Cutting Curse and Harry had been able to barely cast a slight healing spell before the pain of his scar took over. Voldemort had still gotten Harry’s blood and come back, had still dueled Harry, and Harry had still seen some version of his parents when their wands connected.
But he and Cedric had been able to get back to the Portkey and get back to Hogwarts. And Cedric had noticed when Moody took Harry. Harry next saw him in the Hospital Wing and they ended up talking a bit while they were kept there for a few days to make sure they were ok.
And Cedric backed up Harry and Dumbledore when they said that Voldemort was back.
Unfortunately that didn’t keep the Ministry and The Daily Prophet from calling them all liars, but it did make it so more people believed them over the paper and government from the start.
Cedric had asked Harry out when they were released from the Hospital Wing and Harry had, of course, said yes. They started writing to each other at the start of summer holidays and kept it up while Harry returned to school the following term. They’d even met up in Hogsmeade a few times during the weekend trips.
Harry did notice Cho Chang staring at them a couple of those times. She hadn’t been happy when Cedric broke up with her nor was she happy that Harry had gotten over his small crush on her so quickly.
Cedric also joined the Order of the Phoenix and helped during the Battle of the Department of Mysteries, pulling Sirius out of the way of Bellatrix’s curse and saving his life. He’d immediately gotten Sirius’s blessing to be with Harry on the spot.
Once Sirius had been cleared, Harry was able to stay at Grimmauld with him and Remus after briefly returning to Privet Drive at the start of every summer. The Weasleys would have Harry over a bit but would visit, and Cedric would visit as well. Especially once the place was renovated and felt less grim than it had before.
And, of course, Cedric had been at the final battle and was incensed when it appeared that Harry was dead and his body brought to the school by Voldemort.
He’d helped Madam Pomfrey keep Harry in the Hospital Wing for a few days after that battle ended.
Now it was a couple of years since the end of the war. Harry and Cedric had gotten married the year prior after Harry graduated from his eighth year (technically seventh since he never actually had a seventh year at the school) and then Harry had taken up the post of DADA professor after realizing he quite liked teaching it rather than running after Death Eaters that had slipped away in the Battle of Hogwarts. Though he did offer his help whenever the department needed it. Cedric was working within the Ministry in the Accidental Magic Reversal Squad. He and Harry also both had seats on the Wizengamot from their families.
It was currently winter holidays and Harry was back at home at Potter Manor to spend it with Cedric and the rest of their family (the Diggory family, the Weasleys, and the Lupin-Blacks), meaning they hosted Christmas since the Manor was big enough to hold everybody and had enough rooms if they all stayed over. Harry having a house big enough for his entire family was perfect (Mrs. Weasley had basically adopted Harry after his first year and was now considered her youngest son). Neville and Luna’s family would sometimes come over as well.
They’d already celebrated Christmas and most had left to go back to their own homes, though some of the family stayed with them during the entire break which was nice. Seeing Bill and Fleur with their daughter had made Harry realize that he really wanted children.
And he’d found out from Siri and Remy that apparently in the wizarding world, same-sex couples could have biological children through magic.
Another reason to fucking love magic.
Cedric walked into the sitting room where Harry was, grading some homework in front of the fireplace, and sat down next to Harry, putting an arm around his shoulders. Harry put the homework away and leaned into the warmth of his husband.
“Hey Ced?” Harry asked, looking up at Cedric after a few moments of silence just soaking in his husband’s presence.
“Yeah babe?” Cedric asked, looking down at Harry.
“How would you feel about trying for a baby?”
Cedric paused for a moment and then softly smiled at him.
“I think that’s a great idea. Not sure how great of a father I’ll be, but I’m willing to try with you and raise a family.”
“You would make the perfect father,” Harry said, looking into Cedric’s face confidently. “I know you’ll be wonderful.”
“You will too,” Cedric said.

The morning sickness was Harry’s first clue that their attempt was successful. Or at least the idea that it was morning sickness since Harry didn’t have any other symptoms that would suggest he just had a normal illness.
Harry got a muggle pregnancy test and used it. He wanted an indication that he might be pregnant before going to a mediwitch for the confirmation.
The test was positive.
Cedric was currently at work, Harry alone in his private quarters (spouses could stay in the private quarters for the professors or at least visit during the weekends, something McGonagall had implemented).
Harry decided to head to Madam Pomfrey to get confirmation. She was going to be the one that would deliver his children after all since she was one of the few adults Harry had always trusted.
About half an hour later, Harry was sitting in the Hospital Wing with a beaming Madam Pomfrey in front of him.
“Congratulations, Mr. Potter! You’re pregnant!” Madam Pomfrey said, smiling at Harry. While he’d hyphenated his last name with Cedric to be Diggory-Potter, he went by just the last name of Potter while teaching to make it a shorter name for the students.
“I thought so, but I wanted to be sure,” Harry said, a wide grin on his own face.
“And of course you’ll be coming to me for all appointments and delivery, correct?” Madam Pomfrey said, phrasing it like a question even though it was more of an order. Harry chuckled.
“Of course. Wouldn’t trust anybody else.”

When Cedric got back that evening, Harry was waiting for him and gave him a little box. Cedric raised an eyebrow in confusion at Harry before opening the box.
Inside was a small little Quidditch themed onesie and a tiny little pair of booties. Cedric looked at the contents with confusion still prominent before it seemed to click and his head shot up to look at Harry with wide eyes.
“Are you serious? You’re pregnant?” he asked, voice barely a whisper and full of so much hope. Harry nodded with a grin splitting across his face.
“I saw Madam Pomfrey earlier and she said I am! I’ve been having morning sickness and figured it was pregnancy but wanted to be sure before I told you.”
Cedric went over to Harry and hugged him before pulling away and rubbing over Harry’s stomach, sans baby bump at the moment, before kissing Harry. Harry returned the kiss, running a hand up through Cedric’s hair and pulling at the strands a little.

“I hope they have your genes,” Cedric said, looking at Harry and rubbing his stomach. “Especially those beautiful green eyes.”
Harry rolled said green eyes a bit, enjoying the feeling of Cedric rubbing lotion into his stretched stomach. The warmth of his husband’s hands and the soft feeling of the lotion felt heavenly and Harry let out a soft moan before responding.
“I hope they get your genes too. A good mix of the two of us. Maybe your grey eyes and my black hair or your brown hair and my green eyes.”
Harry and Cedric had told the rest of the family about Harry’s pregnancy when Harry hit the four month mark and his bump was visible in any clothes he wore. It was also Christmas holidays and it was easier to tell everybody since they’d all been together at the Manor.
Molly (she’d threatened Harry last time he’d called her ‘Mrs. Weasley’), Sirius, and Charlotte all held a baby shower for the two of them and they’d been given most of what the baby would need. Harry was being fawned over by practically the whole family. Especially Sirius, Remus, Amos, and Charlotte since this would be their first grandchild. Sirius and Amos kept joking that with how active the baby was in the later months that it meant they were a future Quidditch player.
“Hm, well I’m sure no matter what they’ll be beautiful,” Cedric said, turning to kiss Harry lightly on the lips. Harry hummed into it.
The school year ended a week ago. Madam Pomfrey had told Harry and Cedric that the first pregnancy for a male was typically a few weeks longer than normal so their magic could create the necessary internal organs for the pregnancy. The birth was a bit more complicated too, but either way the pregnancy was a few weeks longer to prep the body for it.
Which meant Harry was getting a bit cranky.
He wanted the baby out and he felt absolutely massive right now and he had a laundry list of complaints that Cedric thankfully took in stride.

James Sirius Diggory-Potter was born shortly afterwards. He had Harry’s unruly black hair and Cedric’s grey eyes.
Looking at their son, Harry already knew he wanted more children.
