Lev hadn't been sleeping well the past few days.
The trauma of everything he'd been through had finally caught up to him, plaguing his mind at all hours, and that didn't allow for much sleep.
Because of this, Abby watched helplessly as he grew more and more tired and frail. She wished there was more she could do but, really, what could she do? She couldn't exactly force him to sleep.
Inevitably, though, the sleep deprivation eventually caught up to him.
They were walking along the side of a road when Lev's steps grew slower and slower. Abby didn't draw attention to it, but she did keep an extra keen eye on him in case something happened.
Eventually, his body simply couldn't take it anymore.
His eyes rolled back and his body fell forward. Abby was quick to catch him, then gently lowered him to the ground.
"I've got you" she said softly. "Let's sit down. I've got you"
She sat on the ground and gently lied his head in her lap, running comforting fingers through his short hair as he finally got some rest, ready to comfort him if he woke up in a panic, just as he had been almost every time he did get an ounce of sleep.
This poor kid...
