"Rift Front Europe: Brief History of Strategic Military Defensive against Kaiju (2025–2045)"
Published by the European Institute of Alien Conflicts, Geneva, 2045
Introduction: The Adriatic Coast Collapse and Central European Defences
The Atlantic Rift event in 2025 marked the expansion of Kaiju incursions beyond the Pacific basin. Initially concentrated along the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, Rift 4-B rapidly destabilized and expanded under deep-sea tectonic stress. By Q1 of 2026, multiple Kaiju had reached European and North African shores, forcing emergency responses in Ireland, Morocco, Portugal, and western France. Simultaneous minor breaches were recorded in the Bay of Biscay and the Gulf of Cádiz, which resulted in a siege on Strait of Gibraltar between 2026 and 2027. The Gibraltar defences were subsequently breached and combined European and NATO+ forces retreated inland.
In late 2027, a new breach, designated Rift 6-A, opened in the eastern Mediterranean Sea. This was the first recorded breach outside of the ocean basin.
Emerging activity near the Hellenic Trench and Adriatic Plate signaled the onset of a long-term penetration campaign. Unlike the catastrophic immediacy of earlier breaches, the Mediterranean Rift unfolded as a sustained and escalating phenomenon. Kaiju began methodically assaulting the Dalmatian coastline, gradually fracturing the Adriatic shelf over the course of four years.
By 2031, the southern Croatian coastline had undergone a full tectonic descent, with an estimated landmass loss of 50,000 km2 across the Adriatic shores. The erosion placed sea level rise across the region at approximately 7.7 meters relative to pre-incident benchmarks. Over 3.2 million civilians were displaced across Croatia, Bosnia, Albania and parts of Slovenia. The Adriatic Sea's geography has been permanently altered. The frontline Sarajevo-Zagreb-Ljubljana broke on February 28th, 2033 allowing the Kajiu to venture inland.
European responses during this period were fragmented (ref. Chapter 5: Muli-Cell European Jaeger Programme). However, the turning point occurred in 2035 during the Defence of Vienna-Brno frontline. The Jaeger Fortuna Golden Mark II piloted by veteran drift pair Jasek Ptáček Capon [†2035] and Hedvig Capon, conducted a double-core surge maneuver to repel a Category V Kaiju assault near Brno. This maneuver, known as the Silver Shield Protocol, was the final defense which allowed sufficient time for deployment of the Central Europe Aegis Shield. The Shield has been developed and installed by LuxCorp, a privately held defense system contractor, managed by Sigismund Luxemburg and owned by the Luxemburg family.
The Shield array—a fusion of anti-Kaiju EM fields, autonomous drone swarms, and pre-emptive radar netting—effectively halted inland Kaiju progression. Within six months, continental stabilization zones were confirmed across Austria, Czechia, Poland, and Slovakia. The success of the Shield Net led to wider adoption of regional shatterdomes, modeled after earlier Pacific-era structures, in Dublin, Oslo, Lisbon, and Cyprus.
By 2039, LuxCorp had emerged as the dominant defense contractor in Europe, with its headquarters established in Prague. The city, once known for its cultural heritage, has been once again transformed into a fortified economic and military center—informally referred to as the “Golden City” due to its renewed status and technological prestige. Sigismund Luxemburg is widely recognized by political institutions and media as a central figure in Europe's survival and recovery strategy.
Nevertheless, global conflict readiness remains high. While Kaiju attacks have been contained, their invasion has not concluded and fighting continues at the edges of the Shield.
Humanity is now looking to shift focus toward pre-emptive strike capabilities, with next-generation Jaeger systems and orbital reconnaissance platforms under active development. The current NATO+ plans considers 2045–2050 as the Offensive Window, marking a potential new phase in the Kaiju War.

📸 [ Side-by-Side Spread: Left – Jasek Ptáček Capon, pre-battle press conference from 2032, smoldering in his navy blue pilot suit. Right – Hans Capon, 18, radiant in his blue uniform, freshly graduated from California Military Academy. The resemblance? Uncann y.]
Golden Boy Alert!
He’s the heir to Europe’s Jaeger dynasty—and he's officially on his way to Prague to enter LuxCorp’s elite Jaeger Pilot Training Program. That’s right: Hans “Ptáček” Capon, son of the elite pilot couple Jasek and Hedvig, has completed his military education stateside and is now returning to the continent to claim what some are calling his “destiny.”
“He’s not just some legacy kid,” an insider from the pilot placement board told MechPulse. “He’s the real deal. The drive, piloting skills, the charisma. He’s got the ‘Capon Effect.’”
At just 18, Hans has already conquered one of the most grueling military academies in the Western Bloc. His transcripts? Impeccable. His posture? Immaculate. His jawline? Lethal.

🗞️ CO-PILOT WATCH: Who Will Join Him in the Drift?
The internet is ablaze with fan theories! Here are the most-hyped potential pairings for Capon’s future co-pilot and partner in mind and heart. Our top 3 favourites:
🔸 Black Bartosch – Weapon master with a stellar LuxCorp file. Prague’s darling and… an old rival! Chemistry rumors with Hans? Let’s just say... ✨ plausible. We think the black will compliment the gold!
🔸Rosa Ruthard - Maverick. Absolute menace. Wild ride waiting to happen. Could LuxCorp really risk it? Can they afford not to? Those two would make a truly explosive combo!
🔸 Pavel “Pious” Antonious – Former special military force, sniper turned pilot candidate. Bit of a grump, but we like to see it as the “strong and silent” type? Current record holder in long-range Kajiu takedowns. Dark horse favorite and a great match for young Capon.

🔥 Will They Rebuild Fortuna?
There’s talk. A lot of it. Internal leaks hint at a classified Jaeger shell under development at LuxCorp’s engineering HQ the Rattay Shatterdome [Capon’s birthplace! Coincidence or a…]—code name: “Golden Eagle”. Speculators think it’s more than homage—it’s a tribute and an upgrade. But is that it?
“When Hans gets behind the controls,” our source joked, “we might have to retire the word ‘legacy’ entirely. He is in a league of his own.”
Whatever’s coming next, one thing is certain: with Hans heading for Prague, the spotlight just got hotter, the stakes higher, and the drama so much juicier.

📰 MAFRA – SECURITY & INFRASTRUCTURE BRIEFS
Section B7 | Dated: 17 March 2045
Minor Inland Kaiju Incident Contained Near Rattay Engineering Site
Authorities have confirmed that a Level II Kaiju breached inland perimeter defenses early Tuesday morning at a classified field engineering depot affiliated with the Rattay Shatterdome. The site, known internally as Silver Skalitz, was primarily used for experimental weapons development and mid-stage Jaeger skeleton testing.
The facility suffered 80% structural loss during the incident. However, a spokesperson for LuxCorp stated that “all critical prototype assets were secured and extracted ahead of the breach by LuxCorp special response team prior to Kaiju neutralization”. The Kaiju was subsequently eliminated by local military forces.
Casualties among the on-site engineering crew are reported to be high. A small number of survivors were successfully evacuated and transferred to Rattay Shatterdome for treatment and debriefing, the majority of the staff are presumed deceased. No civilian zones were compromised.
Inquiries regarding confirmed casualties or survivor identification should be directed to Rattay Shatterdome Emergency Command, reference code: 2HASKZ
